Just a quick warning to those purchasing Iron Man on Blu-ray:

My favorite local parallel importer is reporting that many of his customers have been returning their copies of the film since they refuse to play on their BDPs. So far, it's been people with OLDER Samsung players and ALL Sony stand-alone players.

It works fine with the PS3 and (so far) all other brands.

There will probably be a fix for this online soon, probably when the disc has been officially released already.

That sucks.  What version of Iron Man is having these issues?  US's AVC TrueHD version or German's VC-1 DTS-HD version?

My parallel importer's supplier is from the US, so I assume it's the US version.

A customer with a Sony BDP-S300 did the latest firmware update yesterday, and it still refused to work.

I'm assuming they'll figure something out by the time the title is officially released in the States, since they're going to have major problems if they don't.

isa lang naman, ang problema is dun sa mga added features na minsan hindi compatible dun sa mga 1st gen na bluray players. as the news said, walang problema sa playback on a ps3 only the older samsung and sony bluray players.

MY TWO CENTS - 9/23/08 - by Digital Bits editor Bill Hunt

It appears that there's been a problem with Paramount's Iron Man Blu-ray Disc. We're getting reports from many retailers that the discs have been recalled, and they've had to ship back their stock. Apparently, there are issues with Disc One playing properly on select Sony Blu-ray player models. Indeed, not long after I received my review disc, I also received a "fixed" replacement copy of Disc One. The title is still set to street on 9/30 and we're currently hearing that fixed discs WILL be shipped to retailers in time to meet street date, so there should be no problems with the disc when you purchase it next week. We also suspect that if any bad discs do manage to hit store shelves on street date, a replacement program will be available for those consumers who need it. We've got inquiries into the studio on all this, so we'll let you know as soon as we hear anything official

Rip off artist again ang sony, they should just give it away Grin Grin..I wouldn't bother on this player. I may be wrong, but I know its profile 1.0 lang ata itong s300. Looks like the Blu-ray release of Iron Man may be postponed

Bad news Blu-ray fans -- it appears Paramount hasn't gotten past all its production problems and it just might affect the Blu-ray release of Iron Man. Easily one of the biggest movies of the year, Iron Man was expected to really move some volume on Blu when it was set to release this Tuesday on September 30th, but after some rumors that review copies weren't working in some players, Paramount issued a full recall. At this point the studio is doing everything it can to deliver enough replacement discs to retailers, but if it doesn't happen in time, then we'll all have to wait another week until October 7th to take in the latest sci-fi action flick.
