Seriously? I thought they're available na, according to the tech magazines I've read over the past few months (HWM, T3, etc...). But you're kind of right na rin. I've been looking and casually asking around some shops and they still don't have any of the drives available.

Check the product lists of these popular computer shops. Talagang wala pang BD ROM drives na available locally.

http://www.villman.com/Category/Internal-Optical-Drives
http://rsun.com.ph/catalog.php?cat=CDR
http://pccorner.com.ph/products.do?action=showproductbycategory&typeid=3&categoryid=20

I don't know the reason for this. When it comes to other types of components naman like Processors and Graphics Cards, updated local shops natin.

Siguro they're trying to delay the trickle of technology here since the big companies know that the Philippines is a Pirate's lair.

Maybe they were not selling any that's why they stopped selling? Or maybe no local distibutor to honor the warranty? I remember seeing a pricelist w/ a BD-rom drive on it. Just can't remember if it's pccorner or pcexpress.

Actually, PC Express used to sell them.  I used to get and check their pricelist from time to time.  I have their pricelist of Nov 2007 wherein LG GBW-H10 Bluray ROM sells for P25T, then pababa nang pababa.  It hit around P6.5T on April 2008.  Then lumabas ng bagong model LG GCC-H20L for P9.2T around April-May 2008.  I don't know when did they stop selling bluray drives.  I was hoping to buy one when the price drops to P5T maybe, which never happened.
