Panasonic DMP-BD60 and DMP-BD80

I'm having a nice time with my BD60 playing AVCHD on DVD-5 recordables.

Has anybody else tried AVCHD on this unit?

I burned an The A-Team (AVCHD format) to a DVD5 using Nero,
and yep, binasa sya ng BD80 ko, and I tried it sa Pioneer DV400 na halos
lahat ng klase ng DVD ay binasa, and VOILA, hindi sya mabasa ng player,...
This is the first time I tried playing this one on my BD player...

Pioneer DV400 is a DVD player?  Hindi talaga mababasa yon sir.  Dapat BD player na AVCHD compatible (not all BD players are AVCHD compatible).

AVCHD is a format based on BD for consumer videocams, designed to be compatible with BD.  Container is m2ts, codec is H.264, just like BD.

Mas strict ang specs nito compared with mkv, so playback should be more reliable than mkv made by inexperienced encoders.  

Dahil bawal ang torrent discussions, eto na lang ang tip ko --- try googling "HD-R-US".  That guy is an AVCHD expert.  1920x1080 resolution, 4.6 Gig lang, but astounding PQ and AQ!

Burn with ImgBurn --- free program but high-end, much better than Nero.  http://www.imgburn.com/

Best encoder --- multiAVCHD. Also free. http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/  Don't use a menu para mas trouble-free.

Yes sir, nakabookmarked na sa akin si HD-R-US, it seems sya lang naman ang encoder na gumagamit ng format na yun, ang iba ay halos mkv talaga ang ginagamit, I'll send you a PM ng mga favorite encoders ko on that site sir, baka may hindi nakasama sa list ninyo...

i hope i'm not off topic...i have a panasonic bd player bought form the US and it plays bd titles fine here as well as locally bought recent dvd releases like the dark knight, & transformers. but how come it won't play locally bought old dvds like the matrix, batman begins?

it says it's about the region or something. but if that's the case, aren't all locally bought dvds region 3? so it shouldn't discriminate between the dark knight & batman begins, for example...

i was really looking forward to enjoying my old dvds using the bd player since it upscales the resolution. but i've just been so frustrated with the thing...any insights?

Not necessarily.  I've seen Region 1 DVDs.  Sometimes they're marked Region 3, but actually region-free.
