I don't get why this is called a "Subscription Club" when it looks like there's no continuity with the promo.

If you have questions or clarifications regarding the club mechanics, please post them here so Randyv or a representative from Maganavision can respond.

I don't get why this is called a "Subscription Club" when it looks like there's no continuity with the promo. If it works out, there's a good chance it'll be continuous especially now that Warner's joining their line-up. It's a decent alternative to the sales since even upcoming releases are already discounted.

club 6 @ 2,999.00 for 6 dvds and club 7 @ 3,199.00 for 7 dvds. (i hope i recalled the prices correctly) apologies for these questions...i just want to be sure about how this promo goes -- suppose i chose club 7 and selected 7 2-disc titles costing 800.00 each. am i correct to say that i'll still be paying just 3,199.00 instead of 5,600.00? on the other hand, what if i selected 7 titles costing just 400.00 each (assuming this is possible), will i still pay 3,199.00 instead of 2,800.00? i'm sure some will say that if this will be the case, it would be better not to avail of the promo. i agree. but it might happen that the member realized it too late and has sumbitted his/her order already. thanks in advance.

Most of the titles are in the Php695 to Php895 range fortunately which is where I expect most of the order selections to come from. The lowest price is Php475 which still means Php126 discount plus free shipping anywhere in the Philippines if you opted for 7 such titles (like the Barbies).
The real value of the club experiment imho is the discounted pre-orders. Frost/Nixon and Underworld 3 come to mind for example. Magna made it clear to us that they won't be doing the same level of discounting this year that they did in 2008, so they won't be dropping their prices anytime soon for their new releases.

guaranteed ba na imported yung dvds na makukuha natin, given the price range? baka kasi locally pressed dvd versions yun.
can magna give their word on this issue?

Interested on Magna's response on this too. Especially with the Sony titles. Unlike with their Paramount/Dreamworks/Universal releases, the Sony releases have both imported and local variants. With Sony titles, I only buy the imported ones, so I want a guarantee that Magna won't substitute local versions.

My guess is that, based on the price, most will be... but some like those BBC titles have no imported counterpart, so probably locally minted DVD9. Personally, I have severely throttled down my DVD purchases this year (too many unwatched DVDs lying around), so I have trouble filling up those 6 slots. So I will do the math before committing. If the difference is minimal, like only 5 titles that I really would have bought, then the savings might be 100-200 only since the sixth title would probably be added to the pile (stack, column, tower) of unwatched DVDs.

I just realized. Magna also releases (or used to release) imported versions of fairly new Paramount/Dreamworks DVD's included in the promo. The Kite Runner, No Country For Old Men, Bee Movie, Margot At The Wedding, Into The Wild and Spiderwick Chronicles. It should be the imported versions of these that should be shipped to those who order, and not the locally minted DVD9's.

As per Magna, only the "budget" versions are replicated locally. Based on one of our discussions, the 2-disc releases are all imported, and that's what's included with the DVD Club selection. I'll confirm with the 1-disc titles - but we did make it clear to them that including the budget variants was not advisable given the preferences of PinoyDVD members.

You have to nominate a credit card first for validation.
When you get your activation email, the option to begin this (short) process: 4. After activating your account you may wish to enable credit card payments. Simply reply to this email but change the subject line to ACTIVATE CREDIT CARD OPTION.

Just got an email from PinoyDVD.biz saying that Mastercard payments are temporarily offline as per BDO. Please use Visa or American Express if you intend to pay by credit card.

Question re Underworld 3:Rise of the Lycans and Changeling Changeling - How come the released versions are not imported versions? I compared the inner barcodes and they are similar to the locally-manufactured dvds. They are DVD9 though. Underworld 3:Rise of the Lycans - bakit yung 2 disc edition with book may dalawang version? Yung isa imported ang kasama yung isa 'mukhang' hindi? You can see the difference dun sa spline. Yung imported may serial number (?) sa spline yung isang 'variant' wala. Since hindi ko nabuksan yung walang serial number (I bought the one with serial number), hindi ko ma-confirm. I'm basing this question sa past posts plus experiences ng PDVD members dito. Btw, I'm not sure pero parang nabasa ko ata dito dati na hindi naglalabas ng locally-manufactured 2-disc versions ang Magna. Please correct/confirm me. thanks!

Also with other titles like the slipcased Madagascar 2 (2-Disc Edition) and Spiderwick Chronicles. For Madagascar 2, the one with the holographic sticker and black Amaray casing is imported. For Spiderwick, the variant with the alphanumeric code on the spine is imported.

In the "old" days (meaning 2 years ago), there used to be a difference because local versions of imported DVDs were transcoded to DVD5 before replication. Nowadays, Magna defaults to DVD9.
Regarding the packaging, Sometimes, variant editions are locally produced and printed, but the discs, especially for multi-disc sets, are imported.
