Hi, I'm new here!

« on: Apr 19, 2009 at 08:04 PM »

Has anybody tried this new satellite provider?

http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/cignal.html

Inaadvertise sa sulit.com
free ang pacquiao-hatton fight next month and the picture quality ay parang dvd.

Been thinking kung papalitan ko na subscription ko sa dream eh.

bago pa kasi sya.  PLDT's first foray into digital cable, i read somewhere that they plan on offering HD content in the future too.  If that happens it'll be a toss up between what they have to offer vs what skycable has.

hopefully, this turns out to be healthy competions with the consumers receiving most of the benefits lol...

Just got my Cignal last Saturday, very clear reception nga. initial set-up is 4,390 w/ free 1 month, then 390 pesos a month. As per my Cignal agent, channel line-up posted in http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/cignal.html is fixed for the 390 pesos subscription, then additional channel line will be introduced on June, 2009 probably together with the HD channels at additional cost. Soft launch of Cignal in Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna areas. Full launch is also on June, 2009. FYI.

@Grimlock ..... are the HD channels come as additional channels (added montly fees)? Or included na dun P390 channel line-up?

Good to know, meron nang alternative sa Dream Satellite ..... sobrang garapal kasi itong Dream - taas nang monthly fees nila pero minimal channel line-up.

No choice kaming mga taga-Laguna & Cavite areas.

Di daw included sa P390, bali P790 per month. Upgrade pa daw ng box to HD, P4800 + P1K installation, ibabawas yung cost ng old SD box.  Pero wait daw till July, may standard signal na rin nung mga HD channels.

wait muna koh.

Bro, as per cignal agent, 790 per month for the 3 HD channels plus the basic package of 390, so lumalabas
400 pesos for the 3 HD channels. Pag existing cignal user ka, you need to pay for P4,090 for the digital STB box, 2 meters HDMI cable and installation fee. Pwede na din. They are also working to get Discovery-HD. I la -launch na ang cignal sa public this June so wait tayo for developments.

Thanks for the info mga pre.

Wait na lang din muna ako till June/July ..... ubusin ko na muna itong 1-month load ko nang Dream Satellite.

By the way, I saw the channel lineup for the basic P390 CIGNAL package ..... still a bit basic compared to your local wired cable provided - BUT sill much better the P390 DREAM package.

If you find SkyCable's offering bad here's an alternative

http://www.filsat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8656&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

No corporate site yet but they're rolling it out this month.

Between FTTH and this I am in awe of PLDT's mad mad skills.

Parang nabasa ko sa Star yesterday ang advertisement nila sa isang article.
400+ (can't remember if 499) for the Discover HD and History HD channels.
Tapos meron ata 700++ for 2 channels on HD, they were even including the broadcast of the NBA Finals in HD.
Pero parang on top of you Sky subscription ang offer nila then you'll need to change your box.

Ang alam ko P390 (standard, around 20 channels lang) + P400 (if you want HD).

Not sure where the rest is from. Maybe alvinthx2 can give us a breakdown. Smiley

Regarding HD, wala pa ako sa bahay, but Disney pa lang at NBA finals, wala pa raw History channel for now. When I get home, I'll check the line up, Hoping for the addition of Discovery HD channel sana.

i believe limitation is on the dealer / support side only not on the coverage (should be nationwide) since this is via satellite. you can always buy the kit (ant and box) and install it yourself wherever your are in the country.

thank you

hi alvinthx2,

could you please confirm the robustness of the the signal? i dont know if all direct to home satellites are all created equal but previously with dream, when it rains you lose the service thus prompted me to discontinue with the service.

thanks.

Yes, you loose the signal when the rain pours.

I have a strong signal coming from the dish and the picture quality is better than Dream. HD was excellent at 1080i and deinterlaced by my pre/pro to 1080p. I watched the NBA finals(replay) last night and the quality is a 10/10! Audio was in stereo and there were no commentaries from announcers. Have not fully compared the regular channels with Dream but it seems that Cignal does not compress as much as it's competitor.

For now just 2 channels for HD , Disney and NBA finals.

Just got my Cignal HD this afternoon. Wifey and I are enjoyng the HD very much  Smiley

HD channels right now is NBA live HD, if there is no game, it is Voom-HD. the other one is History-HD. HD channels are crisp and clear, highly recommended! Clear pa din kahit umuulan!

HD box is Humax XH7000, HDMI connectivity, ethernet and optical audio out, no digital coax audio out

Hope more HD channels and SD channel line-up in the future!

Sir Grim,

Ilan ang total channels? Baka lang nag iba na comapred to the original 20 that they advertised.
Ano yung Voom-HD...I mean what are they showing?

SAka 1 subscription per TV po ito right. Kasi kailangan ng box per unit. Or pwede din ba parang mga regular cable na splitter lang ang katapat.

There are 3 channels on the initial offering, History-HD, NBA-HD/Voom-HD, Disney Playhouse (to follow)
Then, there are 6 more channels in the testing stage, no list yet but according to my agent, probably, Discovery-HD, ESPN-HD, Nat-Geo-HD. Pag walang NBA game Voom-HD shows general interest shows, fashion docu, may motocross pa ako nakita.

As for the the subscription, you may choose from monthly or 10-months. You will be needing a HD Set top box receiver/decoder (Humax Xh-7000), a 75 cm sattelite dish. LNB, coax cable. This will be provided by Cignal.
