I wonder if this R3 release will include the 3 hour & 10 minutes Directors Cut version that Snyder's been talking about in the news.

Steelcase!

October pa ang release ng Director's Cut that includes the Black Freighter. Hope they got a really special packaging on the Director's Cut, don't care about double dipping as long as it would look nice on my shelf.

If I'm not mistaken, the director's cut will be released by end of July (21 or 28?). However an Ultimate Edition with the Tales of the Black Freighter spliced back in will be released by December. I'll just wait for the Ultimate Edition.

Quote from Superhero Hype:

Though WB confirmed that an "Ultimate Edition" will be hitting later (around Christmas), Snyder emphasized that the July edition's features won't be repeated and that the later release will be a more or less "movie-only" version, incorporating the "Black Freighter" footage back into the film. Though the later set's running time will be the longest version possible, Snyder's preferred cut will be the version hitting July 21st and that that version will contain the greatest special features. While the "Ultimate" version will not include the walk-ons, it will have an exclusive audio-only commentary.

------------------------

Seems if you want the longer "Ultimate" cut + special features, you will be forced to get both releases...

It's one of the movies that got mixed reviews.

Some loved it while others hated it.
My friends thought it went too slow. I on the other hand enjoyed it.

Check it out for yourself, just don't expect 300  Wink

Calling out Magnavision - please post some updates for us here about the R3 DVD release of Watchmen.

For everyone's viewing, check out this North American rave review of Watchmen

'Watchmen' DVD is powerful

'Watchmen," based on perhaps the greatest comic book ever, was bound to polarize audiences. Ardent fans (like me) of the 1985 graphic novel loved director Zach Snyder's obsessively faithful adaptation of a morally ambiguous world in which super-heroes are more psychologically twisted than the villains they pursue. The rest of the cinema-going public was more or less indifferent.

Its video release is bound to cause more folks to take sides.

On July 21, it will be offered in a single-disc version that represents the theatrical version of the film. The simultaneous two-disc "Director's Cut" (R, 186 min.) includes 25 minutes of additional footage, which push the run time past three hours.

Watchmen: Director's Cut (2 Disc Special Edition) DVD review at DVDtalk.com
(NOTE: online review has spoilers...read at your own risk)

First and foremost, the director's cut of "Watchmen" doesn't begin to change the film like the extended editions of the "Lord of the Rings" did. Zack Snyder has added back in 24 minutes of additional footage and despite the running time now exceeding the three-hour mark, nothing seems unnecessary. A lot of the changes involve the reinsertion of missing dialogue from the comics. It helps flesh out the story just a little bit more and will definitely please fans of the comics. The most substantial additions involve the character of Hollis Mason, the original Nite Owl. The theatrical edition sadly reduced him to more or less a cameo appearance and his importance was lost on non-fans.

The question still remains though, is the Directors Cut a better movie? Yes, but not substantially so that it would elevate its overall rating. I would say between the theatrical cut and this new cut, I can't see myself ever wanting to see the theatrical cut again.

I passed by nearest Astrovision and Odyssey today - no Watchmen DVDs anywhere.

I wonder when exactly will it be released locally.

well yeah.. the blu-ray i think would cost around P1550-P1700.  So if the DVD steelbook costs P1550 mas praktikal nga to just get the blu-ray.  But for a steelbook fanatic like me, it's all about the packaging. hehehe.  Right now, though, I am contemplating on getting the blu-ray steelbook instead.  Undecided

Tales of The Black Freighter is actually now available on DVD. It's 695 bucks. Also includes Under The Hood.

DVD Review- Watchmen (2009)

Superhero movies are a hot commodity these days.  The first superhero to leap from the comic pages to the big screen via Saturday movie serials was Captain Marvel in 1941's Adventures of Captain Marvel.  This decade has seen a successful resurgence of major studio-financed comic book adaptations, including X-Men, Spiderman, and Iron Man.  This year sees the release of Alan Moore's (V for Vendetta, From Hell) long in development Watchmen, which is not only one of the best movies of 2009 but one of the best superhero films ever

ANYONE INTERESTED WITH THIS???

Watchmen Nite Owl

This item can hold 5 DVDS in total. There are 3 drawers with a stop that keeps them from coming out. The top drawer has 1 hub and the 2 lower drawers have 2 hubs each.
Discs are not included and you can fill it locally.

It has 11 small flood lights, 4 blue jet lights and sound which can be turned on and off with one button.
There are 2 AA regular brand heavy duty batteries are included

Packaging: The Nite Owl ship comes in a blister tray (10” x 8” x 6”) and polybag.
Weight per item: 565 g

Cost is about Php2,500.00 to Php3,000.00 including shipping and taxes.

This post helped me out on what to expect.

Believe me - It is 200% better than the Dark Knight Batpod packaging.
