I'm quite surprised nobody has posted about Gladiator, Braveheart and Forrest Gump being released on Blu.

Paramount Sapphire Series, I believe, is a new label for their blockbuster hits being released on Blu-ray.

Gladiator and Braveheart will be released on September 1, 2009 while Forrest Gump will be released on November 3, 2009.

Yup, heard about it.  All three titles are up for preorder at amazon - $27.99 each.  I'm definitely picking up Braveheart and Gladiator.  Smiley

O-yeah, looking forward to this one! Also heard they will re-release Gladiator (this year) after receiving plenty complaints from videophille Blu-fan boys & achieved average reviews only on its PQ rating. So for those who haven't bought Gladiator may want to wait for this. Smiley

I just noticed that Saving Private Ryan has an audio sync problem from chapter 15 onwards.  And it's big, maybe more than 50 ms.

I've heard about DTS sync issues on some SD DVD titles, but I haven't heard of Dolby sync issues on SD DVD.  That's one of the reasons why I prefer Dolby.

The problem with Saving Private Ryan on BD is that English audio is DTS-only.

 Cheesy

Sayang nga yung Saving Private Ryan.  Maganda talaga ang sound and picture ng BD na ito, except for the slight audio sync glitch.

Color Saturation is now higher but still maintains a natural vintage look, black levels are deep, and grain is intact.  If you've seen this several times on other video formats, it's the vast improvement in fine detail that you'll immediately notice (except of course for the parts where the picture has intentional lens flare and internal lens reflections).

Mabuti pa yung Minority Report, hindi pala Sapphire Series, pero iyon dapat ang Sapphire.

Reviewer Nate Boss gave Saving Private Ryan a perfect 5-star for both PQ & AQ! Absolutely Must Own! Shocked

His comments on the sync issue:

"Now, one last thing. There have been reports from readers about the audio going "out of sync" from chapter 15 onward. Using my Playstation 3, I noticed lips did line up with spoken word, and, realistically, some shots show impact before their sound is heard. I could not register a complaint using my primary player. Utilizing my LG BH100, I found no sync issues in the reported problem areas. It appears that this is an issue affecting particular players. Since I cannot get the glitch to work on either of my players, I cannot dock this release based on the reports of others."

Not everyone experienced this problem, not sure if it is the disc itself or if it is a problem affecting particular players.  All the same, paramount has already acknowledged it and I think Saving Private Ryan is no longer available for sale at Amazon.  I hear they are going to release a new version (a corrected one).  Undecided

Braveheart has outstanding PQ and AQ.  Best version out there, so go and get your copy.  It is a definite must-have.  Grin

No, that can't be right.  He tested it on a PS3 and an LG, and he concludes that it's "an issue affecting particular players".

But many PS3 users have reported different results, with some saying there's a sync delay, and some saying there's none.  Therefore, the reasonable conclusion is that the sync delay is there, but it's so small that some people notice it, while others don't.

If Nate Boss tested it on 2 players and he can't see any sync delay, that doesn't necessarily mean that sync is OK.  It may also mean that he can't detect any sync delay smaller than 75 ms., that's why he won't be able to detect it no matter what player he uses.

Nate Boss states in his review:

"Using my Playstation 3, I noticed lips did line up with spoken word...".

Yet in his post on the review thread, Nate Boss (using his "project-blu" handle) admits that there is some lip sync glitch after all:

"sky, i'll agree, there is a moment with Davies and his translation of the song that seems out of place, but as you stated, it is pretty obvious ADR, so that may be an inherent problem."

No, that can't be right.  He tested it on a PS3 and an LG, and he concludes that it's "an issue affecting particlar players".

Yup agree. Hence, let the studio fix the issue & I'd wait for the new batch of release. Smiley
