baka nga pwede magkaroon ng online petition (hindi nga lang ako maalam gumawa nito)
Actually, online petition wont work.  It's not like PinoyDVD is composed of 50,000 active members.  A hundred or two petitions would be negligible to Viva.  Phone might work better.

As to license issues, it's bull...  If C Interactive could get DVD9 rights to many of the same class of films (Asian, arthouse, even Summit releases), why couldn't Viva?  Maybe the license fee is lower for fullscreen or barebones DVD or VHS-quality films...  and Viva skimp on licensing fees, so that they could sell it for Php 375.  Still, it's still doesn't make sense, Most C Interactive new releases is just Php 425, while new Sony/Magnavision releases this week were jusrt priced at 499.  This is pure speculation, however...

as far as i remember...

tanging nasabi nya...

gawa ka ng sulat and then fax it to our office para masabi ko at mapagusapan ng management...

ok lang po ba maglagay ako ng fax number at name ng tao dito kung sino cocontakin???

How about Making a PinoyDVD open letter to the management and then let all the members who like to sign sign it and fax it to them?
Suggestion lang po.

Let's also put in the fax the horrible printing of Universal DVDs' cover paper.

Thanks to Techdude (thread starter) and everyone else for contributing to this thread. Saved me a lot of money and frustration... Especially now when DVD's are on fire sale, I don't buy even at P150 if it's 4:3 (1.33 aspect ratio), or "letterboxed". I learned to avoid the Viva DVD listed here, and to thoroughly inspect the back of the DVD to make sure it's anamorphic widescreen / 5.1 / DVD9. Cheers!

Please add Criminal Minds Season 4 .. I can create a better cover using Adobe Photoshop. Cardboard material used is too soft. Not your money's worth.

It's just sad how they "bastardize" such cool movies like Kick Ass.  Viva releases like these are not, in any way, helping the fight versus piracy especially if they remain inferior to the vastly improved dual layered, 16:9 DTS jack sparrows Angry

If Kick Ass wasn't released by Viva, it would have been released on DVD by C Interactive. But it would be better if Lionsgate movies were released through UIP/Solar, that way it would have been released through Magnavision instead.

LOL! Sus ginuu indeed! That's why it's bad to have Viva releasing a foreign film in theaters. You'll sense something bad is going to happen to the movie, gaya ng pag sa sinehan, maka-cut down yung movie, pag naman sa DVD, disastrous!

Hi, I'm new here!

« Reply #135 on: Nov 25, 2010 at 11:21 PM »

I just got THE EXPENDABLES dvd. and napansin ko 4:3 yung aspect, SQ is bad, PQ is quite ok. Menu layout and graphics is crappy. When i scanned the sleeve, viva pala nag release. And i decided to check here for info regarding the dvd, or the source at least.

So, add niyo na rin yung THE EXPENDABLES on the viva titles to avoid. Of all the dvds that i have, ito lang yung pangit yung pagkakagawa. Better to get an R1 version i guess.

I see District 9 is already included. A viva release, so the mediocre quality is expected. But at least it has a really great-looking menu, it has "frills". LOL  Grin

I actually thought that this release was going to be different. I was attracted by the packaging. Mayroon siyang box-like covering. Pero I was dead wrong.  Lips sealed

As for me, I watch DISTRICT 9 more than 5 times so my 375 money I paid will never go broke.

WARNING: Buying the SAW box set will get you fooled. Pero ok lang s akin dahil I only after the movie, but the main menu...daig p ang pirated!

Question: Even if you bought A crappy VIVA release, do you still put them on your VCD/DVD collection?

Nasilaw ako kasi Php 125 lang price ng District 9. Full screen AND no subtitles. Grabe. Talo pa ng pirated.

Kinda. I bought the Twilight VCD the day it came out, and that was fine with me. But I already gave it away and purchased the R1.

Kakabanas. Viva na ang magrerelease ng Beastly. I'm not buying the DVD because of that, though I'm still going to see it in theaters.

You can add that title on the list, even though it's not released yet.

^ at P375, The American is most likely a fullscreen DVD5. It's a warning, but of course, the decision to buy or not is up to you. Wink
