How much will a measy cost and where do you buy them with audition?
With the movie jukebox feature, a local selling price of P6,000 (includes wi-fi antenna, HDMI cable, no HDD) and regular FW updates, the Xtreamer w/ SideWinder appears to be a better buy than the Measy. Can anyone comment as to whether the Measy is still better performance-wise and/or price-wise?

Anyway, Now I was awarded as their Exclusive distributor here in Phil. In other word, maganda feedback ng item natin dito and they acknowledge our dealership.

It really depends on your peers or seeders, lots of peers, fast download, no peer no download. ;D ;D

Both torrent I uploaded at the same date, measy and pc turns on and off at the same time. Pero sir minsan nakaka tsamba ang measy, first time I use the BT function of measy, I downloaded a very popular torrent, it took only 5 hrs lang ;) ;)

Hi Sir hotrod, assuming you have the internal HDD inserted and your measy is also connected to your network, you have to upgrade the firmware to V0006.23AW, download it (to your PC) through the measy website, you'll have to use a download manager in order to complete the file download, (windows download manager is sooo slow and always stops at 15%). After downloading the file, extract it to the root of your usb, then insert it in the measy usb port, then go to setup, choose system and scroll down, then click system update, choose system upgrade. hope it help :) :)

try setting the audio output to LPCM, mine too stutters when playing mp4 files, but when I set it to LPCM, stutterings gone. I observed it (stuttering) when playing mp4 with AAC audio file and the measy is set to RAW. Any way you can set it back to RAW whenever you play dolby or dts files :) :)

Glad to be of help, I guess nothing's perfect talaga.. sa popcorn walang sound ang AAC file when set to RAW, sa measy nag stutter naman...hehe ;D ;D
I hope you can enlighten me on my question, I thinking of buying measy, for the following reasons:
1. Video output, composite, hdmi
2. Audio output, optical, coaxial, stereo
3. 3.5" Internal hard drive

wait i noticed something before , a very loud distorted sound come from the unit output when I used an external DVD (on some disk) while loading/ stopping and at resume mode. I already forwarded this "bug"? to the technical guys of messy but no response at all. Duno if this was fixed at the new firmware.

Thanks. Yeah, decision is indeed leaning towards Measy. I have compared specs of common used brands at almost the same price range, and I think Measy does have an edge. Final Nail on the coffin, testimonials based on experience. That it is worth it. :D

Try setting Audio to LPCM in the Measy's setup menu. I believe this will output two channel audio on your receiver.

Your TV maybe out of sync with messy on certain resolution. It happened with my LG before with different source. Put the messy in the mode where you can can see the cropted images (with blue people), then try to adust your TV like "autoadjust". It should solve your problem no matter what resolution you choose with the messy...

Just had my Measy for about a week, no problems so far. Really like the backlit remote!
Mga sirs, any suggestions how to organize/sort movies? Problem is, kapag asa gitna ng alphabet ang title ng movie na papanoorin ko, I have to press down x times para lang makadating dun. Do I need to group alphabetically my movies into folders (i.e. folder 1 a-b, folder 2 c-d, and so on) or there is a better way?

I was able to downgrade my FW back to 6.23 with the instructions from sir garfield.
scrolling is much faster and everything is more responsive than fw8.5
While the unit was apart I enlarged the opening for the IR receiver as well so I don't have to point the remote directly towards the player anymore.

It did reformat my Hdd. Also, since you need to open the unit to force downgrade, the hdd was also removed.

PLAYER SETTING: I watch AVATAR 1080p with 11+ gig in size (for testing), with player settings: Digital noise filter Auto or off, enabled the 1080p 24p or off, output: tried most resolution settings: HDMI auto/ 1080p 60Hz/ 1080p 50Hz even 720p 60Hz.
THE PROBLEM: At start its played smoothly but pass 1hour of the film it hangs, well this problem varies through time, pero eto na ung pinaka mahabang narating ng panunuod ko bago sya mag hang, sometimes it happens 10mins after sometimes 20mins. Also tried some 720p movies (eg. 27 dresses) still the same may time na mag ha-hang sya, some movies natatapos ko with out hanging kaya naguguluhan ako, Kaya mga ka-measy na experience nyo ba itong problemang ito? How? I think yeah u need to remove the HDD when you downgrade. So after downgrade and putting back all the screw. and then put your HDD back into the slot. Will it reformat automatically your HDD when turn ON?

Kumuha ako ng measy player yesterday. When I turn it on my LG LD460 displays FULL HD PLAYER. Tapos after mga 10 seconds, nagbla-blackout na yung screen ang displays NO SIGNAL. I tried using other HDMI cables and inputs pero ganun pa rin. Pero kung RCA yung connection ko, the measy works naman.
Ano kaya problem nito? May naka-experience na ba sa inyo ng ganito? I hope hindi naman ito compatibility issue with the LG TV.
Anyway, garfield said he will replace the unit na lang.

Kaso parang walang way to change the settings sa TV ko. Sa measy naman, I tried all the video system settings like ntsc, 1080, 768, etc. pero no signal pa rin yung display ng tv ko.

Guy's have you tried connecting your Measy sa HDMI input ng receivers ( for my case Onkyo 606) via pass through? While playing MKV files with 1080P resolution, and setting measy at 1080P (50hz or 60hz) nagiging snowy yung movie. Never had problems like that using my wdtv live. I tried setting the measy's resolution to 720p and other lower setting and movies went back to normal although at a lower resolution.....
Check on your LCD if it support full 1080p hd. I've experience that snowy when connecting the hdmi directly to an lcd that is not Full HD supported.

I am using a 46 inches Samsung Led Tv :) FullHD, as i was saying, i dont have any problem with wdtv live playing the mkv file at 1080P . Never the less, i am still hoping that the new software will solve many problems that is bugging all of us measy users right now :)

because the BT feature is not working properly. Lahat ng FW version may bugs.

Got mine to work. Upgraded from version 6.xx but still testing for bugs. Delay is still there but quite tolerable for me :)
I was able to upgrade to v.8.95, below are some of my initial observation
- new fw played mkv files that I had problems playing on v.6.23aw
- when changing aspect ratio, it does not display the current setting, rather you have to go to setup menu to check
- better navigation than v8.5, as previously stated, delay is still there but tolerable.
- like v8.5 the new fw displays the album cover or movie poster
- I believe they were able to fix the bt/samba scanning issue as I don't see it anymore.
I'm not sure though what they meant by the note "need to upgrade twice"

IM not sure. maybe it will depend on your universal remote. If I'm not mistaken, pwede program yata yan.
Current firmware still at 6.23AW
I was able to finish downloads using the one download at a time approach. Another bug I found with the BT client is that it won't continue the DL if the unit got turned off in the middle of it.
Will try next to limit the system to 1 DL at a time then queue several downloads, will see if it will finish all of them.
I also found a bug with the display output mode. If I turn off the TV and turn it back on (with the NMT continuously on), the display mode goes back to 480p and the only remaining options I have are 720p and 1080i. If however, I turn the unit off (while TV is turned on) and back on, I can again reselect 1080p/60 (with 1080p/24 when viewing movies).
Are you guys experiencing the same?
get mkvtoolnix 4.0.0.0 at videohelp and remux them. to test also via pc if they will run on your measy, use powerdvd10. if it doesnt play on powerdvd10, it will also not play on our measy. :)
sir garfield, question lang po. can a universal remote replace the remote of the measy? i have 4 remotes kasi, was thinking of getting a universal to replace the 4. thanks!
I think you'll have to use a learning remote control to copy the signals from the original. I'm currently using my receiver's learning remote control for the Measy.
For me, I have v 8.95, an from time to time, I can't connect to the BT Page. It doesn't display my downloads anymore. I have to turn the unit off pa or something so they'll display again.
Do your downloads resume after turning the unit off and on? I'm on 6.23AW and it seems that they don't resume once the unit gets turned off. The status actually goes back to zero percent and not getting any peers or download speed.

They will resume bro. During the time that it is inactive, it will display 0% progress, but once it starts resuming (just leave it on for a while, it will resume), the real % progress will show. I've successfully downloaded 2 1080p movies so far via the 6.23fw before I upgraded to 8.95.

Based from my experience, yes, the downloads do resume when you stop and start them again. This is for 6.23fw.
I'm starting to become frustrated with 8.95fw in terms of its BT capabilities. Numerous times, I can't see the downloads altogether. Only after restarting Measy will they start to re-appear. Oh well...

Pre improvise nalang ako man din ayoko sana ng ganon ung biglang pasok ng kuryente sa unit, you may try buying a plug adapter na may switch where in you can switch it off first when plugging then turn it on when you want to use it the unit. Just a suggestion bro.

My main reason for upgrading to the v8 firmware is album art. Yes, it is now available, as seen below. Of course, you'd have to have your movies in folders, along with the pics that came with it for the album art to display properly.

bogart - sir your movie folders should contain the necessary pics (parang album art ng itunes). i think you can download them off the web. my hdisk came with those na kasi.

I think this issue can be easily fixed with a firmware update. A PC's bios is set up whether you want it to turn on on power resume or not.
My wife is starting to hate the new FW coz it does not memorize which file display setting you last out it to.
Maybe if a new firmware comes up hehe.

Somebody posted the above quote from another forum. I'm also experiencing the same issue with 8.95R. Looking forward to downgrading back to 6.23AW. Hehehe!
I can understand why this is not thought of, I presume other countries do not experience power outages as much as we do therefore they do not immediately consider the power on standby issue.
Hopefully on the next FW update they will fix more of the issues.
We should patiently wait as this is not a big known company like WD or some others. Lets just wait, eventually, I think they will solve the issues bit by bit.

question lang po.. when I try to set the player to 1080p ayaw nya wlang lumalabas na display. My LCD tv is 1080p capable. Bakit ganun? hanggang 1080i lang yun naseset nya at may lumalabas na confirmation to save.
I did test the 1080p 60ghz setup in my Philips 32" LCD. Nothing unusual happen. Works well.When i select the 1080p option blank screen lang sya usually lalabas yun confirmation screen if you want to save the setting...

Yup...Actually kasama na sa 0.02% defective statistically computed sa rami ng nabenta. So mababa pa din ratio ng defective.
Btw, Old model yung 3 units. The one with screw pa sa HDD. Already told the manufacturer about it and they are willing to fix or change the item.
Important sa mga supplier are open minded and mabilis kausap. So ok naman.

guys any recommendations for my measy player? I bought a measy last december 2010, bought also a new WD Green 1tb HD Internal but when i played 1 movie naghahang na sya. Found out mainit na yung hd, kasi yung sa USB Drive ko naman was able to play the movie successfuly w/o problem. We tried to use an enclosure dun sa WD green HD, ok naman.
any issues for overheating internal hdd's? do i need to give this unit back to the seller?
will do have it checked. sabi ni sir annot check daw po muna nila for testing, he did not say for replacement though. after i have the movie stopped, i tried another one same thing happened to that movie. it stops then when i forward the movie it will continue and stop again (freeze to that image).
May naka encounter na po ba dito may lumalabas na 'Unsupported GMC' while playing the movie. Nagpplay yun movie kaso nagppixel.. pero pag sa PC ko iplay yun movie ok naman walang problem at clear yun movie.
browsing through this forum regarding NMTs, it seems that this unit has the most issues imho. but nice to see that there's ample support from the sellers.

Completed nman po yun download. Actually pag sa PC ko pinplay ok syathe whole movie is clear. Pag nasa measy na may lumalabas sa 'Unsupported GMC' in green text sa upper left hand ng screen while the movie is playing tapos garbled yun picture.
You will have to reencode the file or convert it to eliminate (or limit the warp of) the GMC portion of the Mpeg Part 2 video stream.
i always encounter this "GMC not supported" error also in kaiboer 1073Plus, esp. in tagalog movies.
What I do is I remux the movie again using AutoGordianKnot, viola, GMC error gone. :)
dun lang ba sa specific video na yun? or dun lang ba sya nangyayari sa movie upload owner? kung ganun baka iba ung style nya ng pag encode, try mo na lang sa ibang uploaders.

You need to put the movie inside a folder and together with the picture of the movie.

go to save as then leave the folder open do not click ok. That is what I do. I leave it open for a few hours then click ok afterwards and file is completely downloaded.

As they said that standby issue during power failure is not yet fixed..yeah its a minor issue anyway. I like that bar scan function next to the time and track scan. THE DVD functions had improved, you can eject the tray using the eject button on the remote. Some titles dont work but not the unit's problem, more on region issues.
To me theres just that 1 big issue, if your not carefull enough your be in big crap. The partition HDD partition issue. If you accidentally confirming it your files will gone.....
Let me see later what happens if I format my HDD as instructed by the unit, if the ERROR goes away. Otherwise its a BUG!

Why do measy keeps releasing sub quality firmware?
I'm using JVC-RX5032V Receiver. And all my DTS video played well. The DTS on the receiver lights up. My friend DEnon Receiver also works pretty good.
Hello, the new FW 9.01 is only a beta version now. Because Measy now is using the latest Realtek 1073 SDK4 for the player E8HD.
Next Monday, March 7th, the new FW V9.01-2 will come out, and it can support FTP protocol, Bit Torrent Download, and also PT download, Emule Download:)

You said that newer hardware version of the E8HD uses Realtek 1073 SDK4 thats why they are developing the SDK FW for it. What will happen to the older E8HD which uses Realtek 1073 DD? Will this new SDK FW works as well on 1073 DD? Hopefully yes, but what will be its limitation?
One of my gripes about FW 6.23AW is the lack of youtube support. 8.95 onwards has it included in the streaming media menu and you can even log in your account.
Still waiting for a FW which is as stable as 6.23AW in terms of BT+Samba+Media which includes all the other bells and whistles that the 8.** series has.

Another observation after V9,01 :agreed :) im getting 5mb/s over wired.
Copying files over WiFi is much faster !
With 8.95 I was getting measly 35Kbps (useless), now, after upgrade it's @ 700 kbps.

I upgraded to 9.01 and multi channel aac audio still does not output properly directly via HDMI to TV.
8.96 also had the same multi channel aac audio problem.
8.95R and 6.23 did not have multi channel aac audio problem.

One good thing about 9.02 is you can downgrade FW directly. Which makes testing or switching between firmwares easy. Just downgraded back to 8.95r from 9.02 without using force downgrade.
The new firmware v.9.02 looks cool and has fast response but it has some problem at subtitle category, yes it detects subtitles but when you set it (kung yung movie ay may sub) by selecting english it doesnt properly show in the movie or none at all but before way back to v.6.+ it properly display the subtitles. And also one thing once you enter the subtitle menu, you can't exit manually, you have to wait till it fades on its own, which is annoying when your reach an interesting scene coz it blocks nearly 1/4 of the screen for few sconds nearly 5sec. So am planning to go back to v.6.23, now sir Actino wala bang problema kung babalik ako sa v.6.23 if im already at v.9.02?

Haha! Didn't wait for your post Sir bukoy. Just upgraded to 9.02 and I can see now what you mean by the subtitle issue. The subtitles only display when you go to the subtitle menu (sometimes not). Well, I guess I'm just gonna have to wait for the fix in the next firmware before I get to watch my Jap/Chinese titles again. ;D

If you care I have a few suggestions:
1. There is no English user manual on the site. Just a couple of docs in English. Most of the info we get is just guess-work/ experimenting, and from forums like this one. Please provide a complete & official (English) user manual in addition to the Chinese manual. Of course, this can be done only with a stable firmware.
2. There is a forum on the Measy site. But it is useless, as it is completely occupied by spammers. Please clean up the forum & appoint a moderator to keep it clean. Users find forums, like this one, by accident (like me) An official forum of Measy is always welcome, where one can give feedback & get latest, official news about Measy products, from good people like you..

sir garfield for the wifi dongle, since the measy only has 2 usb ports, pwede po ba yun naka usb 4 port hub without any problems? i have 2 usb external drives kasi plugged into the measy, and was thinking of getting a wifi dongle pero wanted to make sure first na gagana yung wifi dongle if i use a 4 port usb hub like this one below

Yes it's normal. So u can press the remote or the unit to standby.

guys, pa help naman... my setup is ganito, yung video out ng measy connected to tv via hdmi, yung audio out ng measy connected to htib via optical, tapos sa audio setting ng measy ay naka set sa RAW ang SPDIF, the problem is walang sound (so most likely my htib does not support AAC), pero pag ang video file is with an AC3 audio, may sound. ngayon, how can i change the audio track, which is AAC to AC3 na hindi mawawala yung channel mapping. thanks.

Hi guys. I have an E8HD Measy too but I "retired" it after only a few weeks. My plan was to use for our second TV but I later decided to just buy another XTreamer PRO. I'm now selling it but seeing the fan club here I might just give it another try. A couple of questions:
1. What's the best firmware version you would recommend? I upgraded it to the latest but I wasn't really happy with it.
2. Is there a way to install your own applications like with the XTreamer?
3. What's the best way to integrate it into our home network?

how can I change now the file list mode to standard view iwthout thumbnails? If I have very long file names, then is it difficult to see which file it is. And I do not want always have a preview with sound. It is annyoing.
MEasy should give options to show the preview in the thumbnails without sound, or completly noshow.
And it should use the full size of 1920 for its file listing. I think that they are waisting a lot of space for file names.

Measy support told me to download & install 9.03 again, which I did.
Now it does show 9.03 in version info.
Also, I'm curious as too how other users on this forum search for a file on the HDD, now that the 'file search' function has been removed. I have 2000+ files (photos, music etc) and I have scroll through them to go to a particular file.
Measy says the function was removed 'coz the file scanning slows the start-up.
But they should find a way to have the file-search function without the scanning issue.

I tried upgrading to 9.03 last night. Napuyat lang ako ??? i followed the instructions in the measy site, after confirming the upgrade, the tv went off. after around 2mins it went on, then nagrestart ang Measy. But the version is still the old 8.80. why was that? Do i really need to open the unit and force upgrade? Help pls.

In this case, I think you need to force update. If I were you, don't upgrade yet. Wait for new Firmware.
Needed the subtitle very badly... so downgraded from 9.02R to 8.95 without any issues. Now watching chinese/jap movies... I'm a happy camper again! I really don't mind the SAMBA process in the startup as it only takes a few secs. ;D
You can actually downgrade directly from 9.02R to 8.95 or later FWs (not sure if lahat). If you still have the install.img file for V8.95, you may copy it directly to the root of your USB drive then plug it in the Measy USB port at the back. Afterwards, just run the FW USB upgrade in the Measy MISC menu. Wait for it to finish... then Voila! 8.95
I've installed a 1TB HDD and went to format it but nothing happened. It just went back to file manager?? And how do you remove the HDD, it seems impossible to pull it out again :(

Managed to have the internal HDD working, needs to be initialized. But I am still wondering on how to remove the HDD, it seems that the plastic will break if you pull to hard?? Any one tried to put & remove a 3.5 HDDD?

I have the same problem right now with the firmwares above 8.95
You can:
1) You either downgrade to 8.95 or below
2) Convert 6ch AAC to 6ch AC3
3) Convert 6ch AAC to 2ch AAC
Personally, downgrading to 8.95 and below would be the easiest. (9.01 and above firmware is easy to downgrade, just put in the firmware you want to downgrade to and just use USB upgrade. DOn't need to force downgrade when using 9.01 and 9.02)
I currently convert my 6ch AAC audio to 2ch AAC so I wont be hindered as much. It's a lot of work to convert my whole library though.

I see. supposedly yes you can use a screw but with a flat head. So that it won't get stuck while sliding it in. In this case, you don't have any choice but to use a vice grip and forcibly break the HDD tray. Then buy an extra HDD tray from your dealer.

By the way sir garfield, just wanted to confirm. Is the casing made out of plastic (sorry unit in Dubai & I am in Abu Dhabi) or is is it aluminum, I just thought of something on how to remove the HDD without breaking the tray but would not be possible if the body is plastic.

You should put the SRT file together with the movie on the same folder para madetect ng player ung .SRT file during playback, just go to subtitle menu and select the subtile na madedetect ng player then it will show, tweak mo nalang ung ibang option ng subtitle like the offsetting maaaring wala sa frame ung placement ng subtitle kaya u have to offset it at sympre ung font sizing ng subtitle baka maliit kaya di rin gaano makita.

Tested tonight...BT/Samba does work in my FW 8.80Sir garfield, do you have a copy of 8.80. I downgraded 1 of my E8HD to 8.95, can confirm SAMBA works, subs work but haven't tested BT yet. But I still have the issue when viewing files from NAS as it not shown in alphabetical order although internal files shows up fine. Might try the 8.80 on the other and see if correct my issue with NAS files or am I just missing a setting and by the way, how do you do the BT thing?
Tested a torrent (photo at 10MB) in my Destiny Internet connection. Connected to Measy (LAN Cable).

This made me rethink about removing the screws on my HDD. Rather than forcefully removing the HDD maybe I'll just keep the screws. As this could be an issue in our house because there are lots of kids who might play/accidentally press those 2 arrows and eject the HDD (I think there are 2 springs inside pushing the HDD outward). But I don't recommend putting screws on your HDD as you might not be able to remove your HDD.
For 8.95R to 6.23AW...only thru force downgrade possible. Reg hdd format in 6.23AW, Yes you need that if only you need BT/SAMBA in 6.23AW. Otherwise you can have 6.23AW fw without formatting the HDD.

It may only be me but I'm somehow happy with my file transfer speeds via samba. One thing probably worth noting is that I used a manufactured cat5e cable (not the crimped one).
My setup:
- measy hardwired to my wireless router (100mbps, but I have to check if I'm getting 100 full duplex)
- wireless router is an edimax wireless-N @300mbps (the el cheapo one)
- laptop wirelessly connected at 144mbps.
I'll probably post benchmarks soon. Btw, I'm at 6.23AW. Does 8.80 have youtube already included in the web option? I was able to try 8.95 and it has youtube but had a very buggy BT client, which had me force downgrading back to 6.23AW.

I'm using a CDRKing LP8617 wifi dongle with my measy. i think i bought it for less than 500. Not all dongles work with measy, i think it has something to do with chipset compatibility.
i updated to firmware 9.03 for e8hd this morning. and after the updates, it stops at the 'full hd player interface' and doesn't even go to the menus. i'm still lucky because i have a back-up which is actually my old wd nmt. so what happened guys? any fix on this one? ??? thanks :)
You might need to force downgrade/update. If you prefer 9.03 FW, which had a bug in the subtitle if movie is embedded. Otherwise if you had SRT file, subtitle is ok.
You can also have the 8.95R Firmware. Link in this thread....No bugz...

In that case, I think you'll need to convert it to a more "friendly" format for your measy. MKV perhaps.

sir have tried last night, upgraded successful to fw 9.04, so far BT/SAMBA works okay tried dowloading movies and it went okay, one area that i have noticed is that when you are playing a movie with AAC audio codec format measy player is not stable. While playing the movie with AAC -Codec and tried to pause for awhile and then if you are going to resume it the center channel sound is missing. What I have tried after that is to reset the player and it goes back again but then again if you tried to stop or pause the movie the center channel will not work again.
So far other codec works perfectly. I hope measy will take a look in this

How do you set the subs to show always, it's a pain when you're watching TV Series??? ???
If file is in mkv format and the subs are in the file as well then you must have the mkv file remuxed to have subtitle always show.
That way whenever you play the mkv file the subtitle will always show up.
I have bug issues with 8.95R. I just downgraded from 9.04 because some of my HD movies that has 6.0ch audio does not play properly when I just use a regular stereo plug on my TV going to the measy.
But right now, i am a little annoyed with the auto scanning of hard drives whenever I start the player. I tried turning off the auto scan feature but still the player auto scans the hard drive.
Any fix on this one? I have FW 8.80, will it be better than 8.95R?
Downgraded to 6.23AW from 9.04 and my BT client is back on happy times. I also managed to get rid of my noisy fan problem by spraying contact cleaner in the fan's bearing area (I guess something got stuck in the sleeve bearing area) and now my unit is noise free. Still, I'll start searching for a same sized ball bearing fan.

As for me, the most stable FW for overall use is still 6.23AW (I don't have a download link of 8.80 industrial so I can't give my opinions regarding that FW). Tried 8.95R, 9.02 and 9.04 but all my needs still drive me back to 6.23AW. (Subtitles, playback, BT and Samba)

ok..its possible you might have corrupt firmware. Try to check on this thread. a few pages back, I uploaded firmware 8.95R. Have it download and re-flash your unit. Give me update...

Go to video setting under setup and select NTSC or PAL depend on your TV.
The NTSC or PAL options some time appears. it seems to be related with the tv you connect to the device.
finaly i decided to buy a lcd with hdmi to forget those issues. today i will try to apply firmware 9.05 again.

- still cannot output AAC 5.1 properly.
- Center channel audio is still missing.
- Subtitles working properly.
So far it is either convert audio of all films or stay with 8.95

I have a E8HD and I experience dreadful speed when using samba to transfer files (200 to 500 KB/s) and bt is totally unstable. I´m using FW 9.05. My device uses the rtd1073 chipset.
Does any one have the same problem?
I tried the ftp tutorial but my devide does not have the folder volumes inside /tmp/hdd. Does FTP improve speed?

the issue that my device is bricking is that it has something wrong in the hardware. it seams that is because it is a old version of the pcb.

I have got my device open and could see that the pcb dates from oct-2010. Nevertheless it seems just as the 2009 from the pic of tatubias. The ICs seem the same.
As mine is newer maybe I try the FW from terminator.

hello mga sir, wanted to ask if anyone has experienced this on their measy. there are some files on my measy that are cutting in and out, meaning nawawala yung video/audio for about a second then babalik. my measy e8hd is the new version (horizontal case with the lcd display) running 9.04, then i upgraded to 9.05 to check if the firmware is the problem, same issue pa rin.
ang di ko magets is not all files have this problem, and these files used to play without any issues on my previous measy, using the same hard disk. i had to upgrade lang to the newer measy kasi my balikbayan friend was interested in my old measy so i had to give it to him.
i also changed the hdmi cable to isolate the problem, same thing pa rin. any help? TIA!
if i had understood you well, the issue is like you are watching the movie and flick in to black and came back into the movie very quickly.
if it is that The only way i was able to fix it was changing the video mode. now im using 720p 60hz and does not flicks any longer. sometimes when i put it on 1080 i get the fliking.

agree to this sir garfield...but weird thing happened to my measy last night, I was watching "I am number four" without any audio problem, and when I was in the middle of the movie, I had to pause it to get some food. When I came back and to resume play, the speech audio disappeared. Nagulat ako since I was already literally halfway through the movie and was watching it without any audio issues, tapos nag pause lang ako nawala na yung center channel. So what I did was press stop, then back, then played the movie again from the beginning, tapos used the search function to go to part where I paused the movie. When I tried playing the movie from where I exactly where I left off (using the OK button at the start of the movie), wala yun sound pa rin. But using the search function was ok. Ayun, may sound na ulit yung speech. I verified the file to have AAC 6 channel (5.1) audio using the Info button.Hello my friend,

I hope measy comes up with a firmware na sa wakas na without any issue whatsoever with the subtitles, audio, flickering, etc. Sayang naman ang ganda ng support ng local reseller dito, nakakainis lang mga nilalabas ng firmware ng measy, may aayusin na isang part, yung other part naman nasisira. Sana magka proper QA or beta testers sila ng maayos bago maglabas ng FW.

My measy does not sort videos alphabetically as well. it sorts them by when you put them in. Newer are always near the end (bottom). However, on my flash drive it is not always the case. Usually the new files are just jumbled around.
I am guessing this is because there is no index file, and an index file can only be made via scanning the drive which used to slow down boot up. This is just a guess.

Hi Tatubias, why you need to tear apart the case to do force-upgrade? There is a small hole at the back side. You can use a small needle to press that button inside at the back panel during the Force Uograde beginning. It is the same.
Firstly we are so sorry for the FW issues. And the truth is we are changing the engineers internally...Due to the internal affairs...we were kind of slow respond. but from now on...it is much better support, especially the FW part.

1. You don't need to press Time-seek to go through all the movie you've just watched. You can press digital button 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc, and it will skip to 10%, 20%, 30% 40% etc of the whole video. Please try.
2. AAC 5.1, we are still trying to make it work at the moment.

in the middle of a listening session, my e8hd suddenly stopped playing music and made my amp/speakers produce a hissing sound. i found out later that it could not detect my 1tb external disk, even a 2gb thumb drive can not be recognized (1tb and 2gb storage were tested to be working fine on my computer).
i have never used an internal drive and using firmware 9.05 for a month now.

I have installed transmition on the device i will be testing then i will be providing a tutorial. for the 10 minutes that now im testing is incredibly faster that btpd. it like utorrent. also support DHT and Utorrnet protocol

i was able to install transmission bt based on tutorial from tatubias. thanks tatubias! now i have the option to download from bt/samba or from transmission...
one work around to make some mkv files be played at 6.23 is to use mkvtoolnix. Run the app, and under "Tracks chapter and tags" section select your video track. Then in the section below, in "Extra options" tab choose "no compression" in the compression options. in the newer FW's, there is no need to convert files.
9.06 looks promising. but for the fan of transmission bt, you may want to use Flavo or Measy's 9.05.

when i run "date" i get an updated time and date, but when i run "hwclock", i get jan 1, 2000 all the time...

Is there a way to install Transmission BT Client on FW 9.06?
in a easy way it is not.
When you install transmission it also installs some library that should be installed in specific systems directory. and FW9.06 is read only so you cant do that.
the only way is to unpack the firmware and add those files manually and repack it.
i have done that with firmware 6.25 but is packed with different file system. i have not tested with the new firmwares due they dont work on my device. if im bored. i will try to do that with firmware 8.95 that works on my device to do the test.
then if i am successful and if am TOOOOO happy for the finding i will repack 9.06 :P
but i really need to learn a lot of things. to do that work.
NOTE: DO THIS IF YOU KNOW HOW TO RE FLASH YOUR DEVICE IF IT GETS BRIKED. i dont take any resposability if this dont work on your device or kills your device (e8hd).
Hi this is a tuned version it is the firmware V0006.23AW but i have installed Transmission 2.33 Bit torrent client.
1 - To make BT Transmission work. create a directory called: BT_Transmision in the root directory of your e8hd hard drive.
2 - Reboot the media player This will make when it reboots transition create configuration files.
3 - Edit your configuration files and reboot the media player.
OR - i have added a demo directory if you want you can use it as example. and you only do is copy and uncompressed into the media player hard driver. update the settings.json configuration files for your network configuration.
NOTE: i have added some delay to start transmission so wait about 20 seconds before trying to access into the web interface.
To access transmission web interface http:IP_E8HD:9091
to kill transmission telent the e8hd and run: killall transmission-daemon
to start transmiossion tenlet the e8hd and run: /opt/bin/transmission-daemon
if you need to edit configuration file i recommend to kill first transmission, then do the edition and then restart it. ALWAYS do a BACK UP of the configuration files.

the simplest way is to relax your security (disable WEP) for a limited window to check first if your USB dongle works at all.
next enable WEP, force router to give an IP address for your MAC address for BOTH wired and wireless X6 NIC.
i assume other wifi devices can readily connect to the same router, please confirm.
i assume your dongle is seen by X6, working and X6 shows it sees the MAC address.
i assume your router works and DHCP is set correctly, so X6 shows it is assigned by IP by router (as DHCP client).

i have these files A.Turtles.Tale.Sammys.Adventure.2010.1080p.BluRay.X264-AVCHD and A.Turtles.Tale.Sammys.Adventure.2010.720p.BluRay.X264-AVCHD. when i play these on my measy, after 30 seconds of the movie, the video (panasonic hdtv) turns green and hangs my measy afterwards. but when i preview them (small screen), it plays smoothly. what could be the problem? i already used mkvtoolnix but still the same.

since working na siya off WEP, enable it ulit, this time slowdown to discount typo. Also try the advanced.
on BT, I wont bet on it as a full time torrent unless it runs Transmissions (a torrent client), but the native is good enough for small DL (< 4GB sized files).

I tried 1080p movies ranging from 5-10GB and dvdrip movies around 700mb, but still the same download rate. Right now, PC na lang muna ang pang-download. Thanks.

I have the same issue with Transmission. when you download big 4 or more gb files you cant download them download more thatn 50k 30k. while smallers you donload 300k or more.

I have two (2) other non Measy NMTs that run on transmissions and seems 4GB or more files are no sweat as I get top speed. so I do not think its the Transmissions DL engine itself, i know it works well on other NMTs, but not on Measy (at least not yet). In Measy, i get sloppy DL via neigborweb, so my trusted NMTs do DL for me and such great power savings. see picture here notice DL speeds --- My mnor gripe that I cannot throttle/set the download bandwidth limit and upload limit(so i can still work and assign x% bandwidth to the machines). In a PC i set my DL to 130kb and my UL to 10kb and it does not affect my setup when providing remote server support from customers via VPN, i wish there's one that can be set in Transmissions, but in all i am very happy with it. I think the best chance of transmissions working is for Measy to send you an X6 unit and you can get that transmission flawlessly running. I hope they consider and when they do, keep my gripe in mind for bandwidth provisioning for UL/DL :) |

anyway, i tried your repacked 6.23 FW and made some changes on settings.json as well as the directory. everything went fine. Transmission speed is ok but just notice that after a while, the connection of my e8hd to my laptop drops and will have to manually restart the media player. why is this so?

firmware 9.04 cant find my files through Measy. if im going to connect the measy to the PC using USB, files are intact.
NOTE: when you play with the firmware you always reboot a lot of times the device. be aware that some time the data you are downloading it gets corrupted in the NTFS partition. (this is by expeirnce) then wieh you want to open zip files or view a video it gets corrupted.
so it would be a good practice to run a chkdsk 1 a week or every day whey you play with the device.
what you need to do is:
plug the e8hd though USB to your pc. wait until it appear the ntfs partition.
then go to run and run cmd
then do chkdsk /f f:
then chkdsk /g f:
chkdsk (check if there it is any error)
f: is the letter of the e8hd when is detected in my pc.
i will be checking if there it is any application to do this in linux.

if you could insert a sync;sync;haltsys command when pressing down the power button, before actually cutting off power, that should take care of a filesystem dismount.
similarly, when a box operates and playing a video, and a power off button is initiated, then you will leave the file state open and thus when it boots up the fsck command (or linux equivalent) will be performed prior to mounting the fs again.

3 - kill /stop transmission-daemon
4 - umount hdd1
5 - shutdown device.
probably if we find to do something like that we can configure some buttom of the remote control to stop or start bit torrent when needed.
other thought were. i was thinking if it is possible to add the on / off bit torrent client with the RSS options. i will need to investigate this.
I have a MEASY E8HD bought from Sir Gary last year with V6.23 FW and because of this thread, I got interested with upgrading my FW to the latest V9.06 I downloaded from the MEASY website, so I can enjoy the improved GUI.
However, my upgrade failed and it was too late for me to know that my unit does not have a Reset button :'( and therefore I will need to open unit to do a "force' upgrade back to V6.23 FW. My unit is still under warranty so I hesitated at first because it will void the warranty and I almost called Sir Gary to do it for me but since I'm living down south, it will not be easy for me to go to Sir Gary's place.
So I decided to open the unit and took the chance and luckily I was able to revive it again using the V6.23 FW.
Now, my question is why the latest V9.06 FW did not work on my unit even after several attempts? Is it only good for later versions of E8HD units? After I was able to revive back to V6.23 and I actually tried again to load V9.06 using different USB's and downloading twice from MEASY's website the V9.06 FW but it still does not work so I just get myself contented to V6.23.
Maybe I can try later upgrading to the "repacked" V6.23 from Tatubias but for now I wonder why V9.06 FW does not work in my unit. Any body have the same experience and any learnings?

I know it was done successfully in my egreat S900, and i dont see why i cannot be done. it prompts " shutting down services, unmounting disks. then powers off gracefully. :)

Got 3 problem with FW9.06.
1. Youtube cannot work.
2. HDMI RAW and HDMI LPCM sounds the same. (E8HD --- hdmi --->TV ---(optical)--->AV)
3. SPDIF RAW not working each time after reboot. (Had to go to audio config and reselect SPDIF RAW to take effect) (E8HD ---(hdmi)--->TV ; E8HD ---(optical)--->AV)
Any solution ?

I am using e8HD ---> optical ->> AVR configuration now.
My STB and PS3 --HDMI--> TV --optical --> AVR. Had to manually switch the optical cable from e8HD and TV (back & forth)
Problem I am facing now is, each time I reboot, the audio is back to stereo. Need to reselect SPDIF RAW from AUDIO configuration to get DTS or Dolby.
I have tried 9.04 and 9.06. Same result. Already feedback to my Supplier. Accroding to him, Measy 'will' release a new FW 'soon' but no date.
Any way can set the default viewer for movie list? Thumblist instead of preview.

My internal cooling fan already died (super bagal ikot as in you can see the blades). As of writing I'm still looking for a same sized replacement pero I'm having challenges kasi maliit talaga siya. I remediated it for the meantime by externally mounting (screwed from the outside) a video card cooling fan (hindi talaga kasya sa loob).

I purchased X7 from Measy earlier this month.
Stock (but stripped down) Mobile phone OS, (eg Camera app for non-existent camera).
There was no Android Market. Later Measy sent me an update with the Android market app.
But try as I might, I just cannot sign in to my Google A/c.
I get an error message:
"Cannot establish a reliable connection to Google Servers.
Your phone may not have provision for data services. If problem persists call customer care ".
So the Android market app is pretty useless.
I wrote to Measy, but they think there's something wrong at my end, and it is 'strange'.
I just set up Google accounts on 2 Android phones of my relatives from the same WiFi network as X7. No problem there.
Video player/music player etc is the stock Android apps. These are great for touch-screens but a pain when trying to operated via remote.
The remote is pretty basic, without much functionality.
It does not even have FFWD & FREV keys so one has to juggle with the on-screen "touch" controls (using the OK , <- , -> keys) which is frustrating.
No local network capability. A Network icon is present, but that just scans & reports other PCs in the network, but you cannot open any of the folders.
I wrote to Measy, and they say they are trying to find the solution.
X7 claimed Flash support, but mine wouldn't play flash videos. I wrote to Measy & then they sent me Flash 11.1 apk to install, and then the flash support appeared.
WiFi / internet connection is good. Facebook , Youtube, Web Bowser are all working fine.
One needs to install their own apps for X7 to be as usable and easy as E8HD (for example).
I have installed my own apks for Media playing, File browser, Bittorrent client, Web Browser, system Backup Utility, News, Internet Radio etc which I found after spending hours googling.
So, X7 is definitely not (at least not yet) a 'use it out of the box' product.
It seems that it was hurriedly put together & sold without thorough testing.
The bright side is that one becomes somewhat of an Android expert thanks to the tweaking one has to do !
And to repeat, no Android Market in the stock X7.
And the market is the main reason why one would buy an Android device.

i had e8hd it was an excellent player the new E8HDL it has new improvements so i will recommend E8HDL.
x6 has a different cpu it is more powerful the case of the device is not as stylish as e8hd (aluminum case) x6 is from metal / plastic mimics aluminum.
if you want a more powerful player you can buy x5.
got my E8HDL. watched an MKV file, PQ's quite good but i noticed flickering whenever there's a "fire scene" (fire projects upwards, parang laser shooting up ???). i don't recall getting the same issue on my WDTV Live on same movie. any tweaks needed? thanks.

Sir Gary - Yes, its the one without the LED display and button in front . . . it is similar to what I got for my friend last May of this year and I bought both units from you.
I actually sent a note to MEASY to ask for help but their reply is to do a force upgrade. A little frustrating because that is what I'm have been doing but no luck :(
As for the warranty, I don't think I can claim anymore since I already broke the seal to "force upgrade" the unit and now one year has passed.
Anyway, it's just one movie and I can still enjoy my other HD collection :)

Not true, idx and sub file wont appear on subtitle choices if it's not the same name as movie file
i upgraded to the new firmware.
a few bugs to report:
-music tracks don't play continuously (you have to manually play the next track)
-the skip to next track doesn't work anymore (it just stops the music and goes back to the list)
-BT client is gone (total bummer!)
-DVD's won't play from the start and when you try to use time seek the unit hangs and resets (VOB files)

X6 and E8HDL use the same newer chipset RTD 1185. Exactly the same GUI. The only difference is the body. E8HDL is more bulky and firm type while X6 looks more fragile. HDD tray E8HDL much convenient to install and remove. For X6, much harder.

I'm guessing it's E8HD kasi when I checked the firmware on the unit, it says 9.05, and I checked the Measy website mukang hindi na supported yung E8HD kasi it the firmware isn't showing up on their download page anymore - http://www.measy.com.cn/download/download.php?en=en&class1=13 and the current firmware for E8HDL is 3.05 which leads me to assume that I have an E8HD. I'm guessing it's E8HD kasi when I checked the firmware on the unit, it says 9.05, and I checked the Measy website mukang hindi na supported yung E8HD kasi it the firmware isn't showing up on their download page anymore - http://www.measy.com.cn/download/download.php?en=en&class1=13 and the current firmware for E8HDL is 3.05 which leads me to assume that I have an E8HD. Tama po ba?
is this FW also compatible to E8HD? I'm on FW 9.05.

Firmware for E8HDL cant wotk in E8HD. The last E8HD firmware support is ver 9.10. I'll place the link for download later.
@shauntot: where did you download your new firmware? i can't see any firmwares @ measy site for the E8HD. i cant play youtube & all the apps. :(

My E8HD, after playing the Movie a few second, i'll go back to settings then set again the audio to HDMI Raw to Decode the DTS Audio. These settings are already set before i play the movie. :D
anyone know how to change the workgroup of e8hd?
i manage to use telnet and edit its samba conf but the workgroup line is not present
found another bug on the E8HDL. when playing m4v movies, i switch to audio 2 which is the multi channel option, the screen freezes and to keep playing i have to stick with audio 1 which is the stereo only soundtrack

From my experience, those who do not have the eject media feature, you can do the ff:
stop the services(if any are running -- like torrent, SMB, FTP, NFS,etc)
stop the movie before powering off the device via the NMT button or remote button.
if you do this, and you check your filesystem, it may prompt for a check, but you will see that it will just scan but will not find any errors to fix. It will only find errors when the unit was powered off while doing playback.

great to hear, have you noticed any loss in files at all? or does it prompt you to check disk in your PC when you use the NMT in USB slave mode (i.e. seen as external disk by your PC?)

I have E8HD v9.10, how do i "sort or arrange by name" movie files? like episode 1 to 100 like that in order, mine seems scrambled and not in order.
Accessing my files through network HDD (ext4).
Im sure i did not encounter this problem before when the hard drive was internal to E8HD and in ntfs format. Now when i moved the HDD to other network system in etx4 format and accessing network the files, the order/sort seems to be messed up and no option to arrange it in E8HD? Like arrange/sort by name, type, date etc.

while on file manager, hit the left button beside digit "0" (one with Menu) text it will ask list/display modes then there's the sort.
may new firmware na ba for E8HDL? been having problems with the unit. has anyone experienced their unit just stop and hang. then there's also the annoying problem of some files getting corrupted, na eventhough you already finished playing the file, you come back later and it won't play anymore.

one more thing i noticed with the newer firmware: aac 5.1 cannot be downmixed to stereo. ac3 and dts are downmixed just fine, but if you play a file with 5.1 aac you can't hear the dialog in stereo

it plays the file. but the audio part i think 5.1 pa rin siya but since yung tv walang center ang naririnig mo lang talaga ay yung sound effects. so the dialog (which is usually delegated to the center channel) is barely audible. napansin ko lang kasi ginamit ko siya directly plugged to an lcd tv via hdmi, usual setup ko kasi naka connect pa sa multi channel reciever. so kapansin pansin yung absence nung middle channel. i tried setting hdmi to lpcm but still the same. ac3 and dts downmixes to stereo just fine. hopefully ma adress sa next firmware :)
Got it..so for E8HDL, stick to the firmware 3.05 or the one that comes with the unit. Don't upgrade it to the fw with DLNA function yet until it is fix.

calling all E8HDL users patulong naman po sa settings kasi 2 signal (left and right) lang ang lumalabas sa HK235 ko kahit 5.1 audio ang movies na naka play, di ba dapat kapag kapag DTS ang i-play ko sa measy dapat DTS din ang signal na lalabas sa HK235 ko? Naka set sa RAW ang SPDIF output ko now and na try ko na rin sa LPCM still no luck on getting DTS signals
BTW im using optical out of the E8HDL going to my HK235(no HDMI input) and using E8HDL RGB out going to my TV (wala pa ako HDTV e)
another thing is kailangan ko ba patayin ang unit kapag aalisin ko ang usb flashdrive ko or bago ako mag lagay ng flashdrive?

Thanks a lot for your support for my E8HD. I'm back in malaysia and my family is enjoying my old media player.
one quirk lang on my 42 LG LS3450, when I turn on the E8HD, the player will just restart. so what i do is to disconnect my HMDI and start the player again wait for few sec and reconnect the HDMI to my E8HD. then that's the only time that it will display the interface on my LG TV

it can handle full BD nagivation...but it depends on the file....
i can navigate some of my BD.ISO but others do not....it can but its limited...
V3.05 sir yung gamit ko. parang very limited nga kasi have tried around 22 BD Iso and kahit isa walang BD Navigation na lumabas :-(

It's a BD-Java thing Bro. If the Blu-Ray (title) has no BD-J, some Realteks would be able to access the BD Menu, as in the case of your R300S. Kaso mas malamang na yung mga gusto mong title ay meron BD-J.

I got the Measy from you last Feb and I am very pleased with it. Just have a few questions though. Tried googling it but didn't get answers:
1. When I insert a usb flashdisk with the movie inside it to the media player and then play the movie from there, the audio is hardly audible from the HTIB (connected my Measy to HTIB through optical cable). Thus, I had to turn up the volume of the TV (instead of the HTIB). How do I address this?
2. How can I search quickly the movie I want from the hundreds of movies in the mediaplayer without scrolling one-by-one?
3. Can I copy the files from the USB flash disk to the mediaplayer without using a computer (by just plugging the flashdisk to the media player and "copy pasting"? How can I erase movies previously installed in the hardrive of the media player without using a computer?

Hi all, anyone have the latest firmware update for the Measy E8HD? I was told there was a v.9.3, and I found this: http://measy.kz/en/model-e8hd-firmware-v930 But I cant get it to install after unrar-ing it.
My problem with my existing setup, which is an E8HD on v9.10 is that on a 55" full hdtv, there is a noticeable stutter in frame rate specially during panning shots. This happens regardless of any 720p or 1080p media. on my PS3 playing Bluray discs, I get no such stutter. When I was using a 42" 720p plasma, I did not notice this. But on the new TV, it is noticeable.
I'm thinking the E8HD is getting a bit long on the tooth already. What do you guys think?

I updated my E8HDL with v3.06 which i found in the internet. I think that was a vietnamese source. Now the unit does not recognize the remote anymore. >:(
