Can I ask something....  ::)

1. Mas mura ba kapag sa US bumili or sa Phils.?
2. Meron bang Region Free na BD Player (can play all regions of DVDs and BDs)?

Thanks!  ;D

Yes.  But I can only talk about Panasonic because my one and only BD player is a Panny BD60.

Asian version Panasonic players are region-free, DVD and BD.

Panasonic US versions must be specially modded to be all-region.

Hi Barrister... I don't have a BD Player yet. Just planning to get one soon (totally newbie to BD world). So meaning, for a BD Player to  be region free both for DVD and BD, dapat Asian Version... so it must be bought here sa Phils (pero mas mura kapag sa US bumili kaso US version)?

Hindi pa rin sigurado yon sir.

You need to test para sigurado.  And if you're going to test it before buying, dapat sa Philippines ka bumili.

Try shopping at Sights and Sounds Shangrila (owner's account here is "E-reply").  Asian version na, mura pa.  Puwede mo pa ma-test.

Thanks... for newbies, ano ba magandang model or brand? Mainly just for DVD (all region) and BD viewing only. I won't be using the online features, I think, since my internet connection at home is kinda slow. And mga how much ba yung BD players normally?

Thanks again. :-)

I recommend PS3 if you're a gamer.  If not, I recommend Panasonic.

Specific model?  Kanya-kanyang preferences yan, e.  Start looking at the lowest-end models.

LG is also good.  Sony is good but expensive.  Samsung has unreliable playback.  Pioneer is so slow, halatang Sharp ang laman sa loob.

Thank you.

Yes, considering a PS3 too.... good for both gaming and BD watching.

But if ever I will get a BD player only, I will check Panasonic brands (since I have a Panasonic DVD HTIB na rin naman, para magamit yung speakers).

Thanks again for you reply.  ;)

Sorry, I can't confirm if a model is region-free for both DVD and BD.

You'll have to test it to be sure.  Because if it's not region-free for BD, it will take a hardware mod to make it region-free.

thanks for the information here. . just want to double check, is your player now region a, b, c for blu ray?  also if you dont mind, what model is your blu ray player?
Title: Re: 2011 BD players
Post by: DaSilva on Aug 08, 2011 at 04:27 PM
Yes, it's supposed to be region-free for both BD and DVD, but I have no discs to check for BD regions.
My BD model number - I'm traveling so I can't check, but I believe it's a BD85, the one with the 7.1 analog outs.

As for pricing, suggest you ask Vic of Sights & Sounds directly.

Cheers.

just checked the fine print, tama si Conan, naka-bundle pala sa TV yung above prices pero sa mechanics, pwede ka rin bumili ng blu ray player lang to qualify for the promo pero mas mahal:

BD-D5100
P6,990
BD-D5500
P24,990(totoo ba ito? sobrang mahal naman!) :o

toys4geeks, hehehe,  only one bluray per delivery at depende kung available. pag di yata available yung gusto mo, yung next choice mo ang papadala.

at, valid pala for 6 months after registration ang free blu pass card. renewal is P1490 for 6 months(10 rentaLS only) tapos P2990 for  1 year (unlimited)

puede na yun, free delivery @ 149 per delivery over 6 months all-in.
pero saw sharepoint also provides the service as well, i guess mas marami sila titles so if they also deliver ok din to maximize your BD player.

kelagan ko na talaga mag upgrade sa 3D, lang katapusan.

Hey Sojourn, also have the BDT-110, I'm having problems playing AVCHD disk despite updating the firmware to v1.7.  How about yours? Are you able to play AVCHD disk?  Have you tried hacking it to become multi region for both DVD and BD.  You know if there is someone who can do this?  Thanks!

I have the US version and from what I read I can't play any divx files. Everything else works great.  I'm tempted though to flash it with Asian firmware though I'm afraid i might brick it so I just watching all my movies from my wdtv live.

I read that there is a group that can make it region free in the web but it costs like $50 which is downright crazy.

got the sony bdp-s380. very satisfied with it. no problems with 1080p files from my 500gb wd portable drive. :)

I'm considering get one also, but for Sony, their BD Players are so hard to come by these days.  Mostly for order lang daw.

Does this upscale your DVDs?  And how is the load time?

good player but im look for something thats within 10k.
i do these players get regular firmware updates? disk codec change for every major release. I don't want to buy a player that only get support for a year. i know some have that problem and i think the LG is that brand.

My copy of Xmen First Class won't play with my current Sony bdp-s570 and my kids' ps3 but plays on my old Sony bdp-360 which I still use at the office and my Toshiba bdx-2500 which I choose to retain and both units have never been firmware updated. Beats me!

As per avsforum, mas ok ang Panasonic kaysa sa other brands. Best bang for the buck na Bluray player.

In this regard, do you know how much ang Panasonic DMP-BDT110 or BDT 210 here in Pinas?

Is it available here?  :)

got mine for around 6400+ and it's worth it. it it plays any file i can think of, even hard to read mkvs. plus it can do 3d and currently has no cinavia.

web interface is also good, much easier to use than my pioneer 140
My only grip is the unit sometimes gets hot.

it is pretty good.  I can even disable subs on mkv 3d sbs files, and switch the audio source on mkvs...and it runs stuff off our NAS, not just DLNA... and youtube... and twit.tv podcasts...

seems reasonable.
it has no 3-d but it will play most hard drives and files.
