Anyone has a unit na ? Hope you can post a review

I am concerned Walang fan inside and as it is, disks are already hot. From experience, airflow is king--- sagwa naman if during playback nakabukas yung hood cover nya

Mackingbird,

congratulations. kano score mo?  Ok ang UI nyan, saw it pero di ko alam if it fetches IMDB info automagically (about, cover)

Also, pacheck if true  yung heat buildup issue when using  internal drive as playback. Apparently, since fanless yung unit, keeping the hood open when doing movie marathons does the trick. No issue daw if 1 movie only, or if  2.5" SATA ang ikabit sa internal (I prefer 3.5" kasi  2.5" has limited capacity).

TIA

Just receive my HD600b this morning, heto po yung mga nakita habang testing ko itong NMT na ito, since I own a measy EH8D kaya siya yung pagbabasehan ng mga nakita ko. (No offense po sa Measy owner-I still love this unit, bumili lang ako ng bagong NMT para sa kuwarto)

Picture Quality- A little difference to none at all compared to Measy, pero loading ng movie mabilis po siya.

Mag kamukha lang sila ng Measy when it comes to loading of Torrent Files.

No need to go to SAMBA for file transfer, sa Networking on Win7  kita siya kaagad. Although tried to transfer file NMT to PC average speed ay 2 MBPS.

Yung bare SATA  sa side  nito ay di ko pa na test dahil I don't have extra HDD, pero may kasama sa package na connector para dito

Madali lang po itong mag init dahil siguro wala itong fan, yung cover  nya act as a heat sink. In my case ilalagay ko sa kuwarto at AirCondition naman medyo yung init nito ay mababawasan ng konti.

Gigabit LAN- unable to test, since my router is not capable of 1000MBPS.

Yung pong AAC Audio format sa mga BRRIP movie,  sa Measy kung minsan na wawala yung center channel o yung conversation. Pero dito sa NMT na ito wala siyang problema.

Bought this to Digitag, 3 months warranty only, pero kung gusto mo ng one year warranty may dagdag. PM lang po kung may katanungan tungkol dito. Also wala po itong kasamang USB3.0 cable, I have disputed this to Digitag pero sabi nila wala paraw yung cable at seperate order ito meaning may bayad. Excited na panam akong ma test ito dahil USB3.0 ready yung PC ko, I just don't know kung mayroon nito sa CDR-King.

Di po ako  expert pag dating NMT, pero yun lang muna yung experience ko sa NMT na ito. So far enjoy naman dahil nga sa significant improve of speed in browsing this at colorful din yung GUI nito.

Iba po ang kawad at tips ng USB 3.0. 4 pins lang po ang USB 2.0 and lower, while 9 pins ang USB 3.0. The ports are backward compatible though.

I have the Max5G enclosure.  It came with the USB 3.0 cable but i guess my enclosure can only mate with the usb 2.0 slot of the 600b.  Tama ba kaya, flat tipped kasi kasi yung other end of the 3.0 cable, normal usb tip.  tnx
Title: Re: HiMedia HD 600B Media Player

pero suspect ko, this unit will appear as a USB slave to a PC so you can transfer from PC to the unit. If that's the case, then i have an ejectable USB drive na rin. Pero if not, then himedia can read USB 3.0 disk.

did not bother checking the manuals, istorbo sa eval :)  (abangan..)

Mackingbird,
try playback audio and video, Kasi sa egreat S800/R200 movies/settings/etc shows kapag menu ka pa, pero once play goes, counter starts normally. baka me setting lang.

also check fw version mo at baka may bago sa himedia.

when you play unit na nakasara for 2 movies straight, di ba ang init ng disk? walang fan sa loob eh. When i changed 2.5" SATA, medjo ok. for now iniwan ko laging bukas yung hood at mahirap na.

Oo lumalabas counter.

May internal disk ako though, but that should not matter.
just confirmed, plugged a USB stick and played Glee Season Finale, ok din. andar din yung counter.

Restore to default mo kaya yung settings? BUT BEFORE YOU DO, memorize how to change language at baka mag chinese menu yan, patay :)

Am running one with a caviar 1TB inside.

I always run it with a  the hood open, para lang sigurado at baka matigok agad, at least until more feedback is available Until lots have used it watching few movies nightly with the hood closed, open hood muna ko as a precaution. I am looking for a way to put a fan inside walang malagyan.

Ang disks are naturally mainit when in operation, PC or NMT,  so dissipating that heat is something i prefer to address maybe put an external USB fan na lang ako muna.

im planning to buy also when i can drop by the shop

Nag install ako ng samsung 2tb f4 bundled na with movies last weekend. Nag marathon for 8 hrs straight closed ang hood all the time. No heat issues walang aircon sa sala lang kasi at 2pm in the afternoon pa, from time to time kinakapa ko surface ng hd600b. Kung anong init nung first hour till my last movie at 8hrs ganun pa din. Proud and happy with my himedia. Planning to get hd200b sa bedroom.

3 months Lang unit warranty ko, eh tight budget gift for my mom who loves far from me. Siguro pag nandun na close na siya. My pamangkin would surely be watchIng it for hours.

SAMSUNG f4 seems to cool faster  than caviar when I let both stand after cloning disks, so I'd send an f4 with it.

May few who request for screenshots , busy sa dayjob mga bro so am hOping someone  can a  post?

Bought one last week. Paired with a Seagate 2tb 5900rpm hard disk. Tested BD Menu with AVS HD's Calibration Disk (blue ray iso), working naman. Wala pa namang heat issues akong naeencounter but to be safe, binilhan ko na rin ng USB Fan from CDR King.  ;D

I have to say this is a very good player. Tested it with downloaded video test files and it played them flawlessly, even yung corrupt videos dun sa test files. Supports downmix of multichannel audio para sa mga walang receivers gaya ko.  Been enjoying this media player linked with my LG 32LD460.

Right now I'm finding ways para gawin syang NFS server para maadminister ko yung content nya through its gigabit LAN instead of USB. Hassle kase 'pag lagi kong tinatanggal sa TV stand yung player tapos kabit sa PC para maglipat ng mga files, tapos balik ulit sa TV stand  ;D. File transfers through samba eh around 92Mbps lang pumapalo.

92Mb(its)ps = 11.5M(bytes)ps SMB transfer speed is "typical".

Just remember to weed through the marketing talk from real world performance.

These are low powered processors so expecting it to perform like a PCs gigabit performance is naive.

That's where the tweaking part comes in. To take it above "typical" performance.  ;D

Agreed :)

Among the various file transfer protocols for networking, the fastest way seems to be via FTP followed by NFS and SMB being the last.

Problem is SMB is the most convenient so I too strive to get the best performance using SMB.

Now we can delve into tweaking issues like TCP Rwin or even concepts using Jumbo frames for ethernet.

Sadly I can't take my HD600B's MTU past 1500. When optware finally gets to the firmware, I'll try to benchmark NFS, SMB and ftp.

For now, I'll enjoy what this monster was intended to be -- a media player!  ;D

Based on the latest firmware (1.0.3.0) I managed to unpack, it contains drivers for Realtek based chipsets -- rtl8192 u/cu/du series, rtl8187, rtl8712. I have the rtl8187 (models LP-9287, LP-9287c, LP-8187e) based wifi dongles I bought a long time ago at CDR King. I'll try to test them to see if they are properly detected and loaded by the HD600B, the model with the built-in wifi that I'm going to take out once the warranty expires.  ;D

if you mean aspect ratio, yes it can 4:3, etc

if you mean aspect ratio, yes it can 4:3, etc

what i mean is, for movies with 2.35 ratio (with top and bottom black bars) and you would want zoom only the vertical scale only to remove the black bars... or for movies with 4:3 ratio, you would want to zoom the horizontal scale only so you can fill up the sides of a 16:9 hdtv... although ordinary zoom (like 2x, 4x, etc.) can fill up the screen, but it keeps the aspect ratio therefore you would lose some parts of the pic (overscan).. with xtreamer, you can zoom by adjusting only vertical or horizontal scale, you fill up the screen without losing any part of the picture.. i'll definitely get a himedia player if it has this feature...

Finally got time to use HD 600B before i send out to my mom.
Can anyone confirm the following:

With the optical connected to SPDIF to a HTIB, i keep on hearing a click each time i change audio. is this normal?

No Audio goes to HTIB when playing DTSMA BDMV.

How do you show simple menu (ie. scene selection). it says BDJ profile 1.0 only

I don't think HD Audio can be transmitted via Optical connection. Can your HTIB decode HD Audio?

Sorry i did not put how i am setup.

I'm hooked to both HTIB (optical) and LED (via HDMI).was thinking it should be able to downmix even at two channels papunta to an HTIB(illl doublecheck settings) and  to HDMI, shouldnt it downmix man lang with that set as so?

I'm just cycling between movies before i ship it to my mom and napansiin ko HD Audiio has no audio on either optical or HDMI.

If you own an HD600B and got this to play, pa share naman screenshot ng audio settings.

TIA

No I don't own a 600B though I was initially interested in it but the Mede8er 500X 2 has now changed my mind. If you have the media player audio setting set to "pass through" then that would be the cause for no audio in both the optical connection and HDMI connection since your TV cannot decode HD Audio signals and the optical connection is not capable of transmitting HD Audio. I think if you set the media player to "downmix" (could be a different term depending on the player) the audio then theoretically should now be transmitted by your optical connection and your TV connected by HDMI should now have sound.

The 500X 2 is not yet available locally but Mede8er is one of the most reliable media players with good firmware update/development. I have the older 500X which has been problem free since day one.

Himedia has BDJ profile 1.0, but i seek some BD25/BD50 rips that can demonstrate man lang BDlite or scene selection, so far wala pa ko nakita among my disks.

has anyone experienced BD-lite at all amongst HD600B owners here?

p.s.  I just left my unit playing nonstop last Friday night with the hood cover closed. after 5 movies, it went to screen saver mode in the morning, pero after trying to access my disk contents andun yung folder pero walang makitang files. after several tries of moving from list, biglang nag freeze. a reboot ok.

You can try the calibration disk from AVS HD 709 (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=948496) (choose HDMV (.exe) or (.7z)) to test the menu.

Most likely your hard disk powered off after a long period of inactivity. As of firmware 1.0.3.0, you can choose how many minutes of inactivity before your hard disk powers down. You can always power up your hard disk by pressing the eject button on the remote and choose the option to power your hard disk. Hope this helps.

something like that....

#1 know the external IP of your router,  (check if you can enable Dynamic DNS as well, it helps given your IP address is likely Dynamic(changed by ISP every connection)
#2 in your router, check if you can map port 80 (http service) of router IP  to your hi media internal IP
#3 test by typing http://router-IP-address, if you see the hi-media interface for BT, then you are all set.

that's the general idea, good luck as I cant answer beyond this (i.e. how-to for routers, set port mapping,NAT Dynamic DNS, etc )

kaya mo yan, depende lang kasi sa features ng router mo kaya good you have a friend around who can set things for you routerr.

If your router supports Dynamic DNS, that would be best. DDNS requires a service account enrolled (lots of free DDNS services out there) so that  when router gets an IP address from ISP, it will register it to your Dynamic DNS URL (i.e. ardenglennp.dyndns.org)

the beauty of Dynamic dns is you just have to remember the ardenglennp.dyndns.org, then the mapping of your router to the internal ip address of your himedia will result to being able to access himedia remotely.

i've entered my ip address and router setting comes out....

check out this link about your router : http://www.pcwintech.com/port-forwarding-linksys-wrt160n-v2-linksys-firmware

create a dynamic dns account, with your password as usual.

STEP 1.  give your friend your router external ip address and try open http://your-external-ip-address, if he sees it then this means your router http is working.

STEP 2. it STEP 1 is ok, now ask a friend to first check if the dynamic dns is working. By default, w/o any mapped ipaddress(internal), and with router web config enabled at http(port 80), ask your friend to open http://accountname.domain.com <<replace with your assigned DynDNS canonical name like: myaccount.dyndns.org >>
IF your friend sees your router web page in the URL in STEP 2. then you are sure the Dynamic DNS is working.
STEP 3. check how to NAT an internal IP address, and map http(port 80), to your Himedia IP address(internal). do the same test and ask your friend to access the same STEP 2. URL. if you see your neigbor web interface (hi media BT), then you are all set. :)

Notes related to STEP 3. Kindly make sure your router DHCP reserves an IP address for your Himedia MAC address, so even if you have a DHCP service for our internal IP address pool, it will consistently reserve an internal IP address to your 600B.

Hope that helps.

yes.

you could set it say to 8888 and connect via:
http://ardenglennp.dyndns.org:8888

but for security reasons, what you should do is to disable router management from the outside or use https instead. If i want to, with the right tools, I could easily get your password with the the right tools if you do router management via web on cleartext http. :)

3. Bee Gees  ... forgot the title
4. Aha

good. Ano kaya and  actual transfer speeds ng USB 3.0. like 3.0 to 3.0 copying or 3.0 to SATA copying ng big chunk files like our MKVs?
Skeptical kasi ako when i see the rates and i still think SATA to SATA is faster by a considerable margin, but i guess mas madaling magkaroon ng USB 3.0 in the future than an external SATA.

Thank you, toys4geeks. I am waiting for an audiophile grade nmt. Me alam ka?
Me problema ang 1055/600B when playing flacs. The higher you set the volume,
the greater the distortion being introduced.

Some issues regarding nmts for audio use:

From the Mede8er forum:

Quote
"The Med, like all realtek mediplayers, have deficiencies which drive audiophiles mad! No gapless playback, and the clipping of the first half second of audio are well reported and seem firmly stuck in the design without a firmware solution possible. They don't maintain a null pcm stream between tracks causing all kind of noise from audiophile DACS, which dosn't happen to most surround amps as they are designed to cope with changing streams."

"The one bright thing Sigma Designs did is porting XBMC to their chipsets, that will put a serious dent in most of the competition if XBMC players start shipping on the market." (Sigma supports gapless for wavs, small flacs).

Kindly check out  egreat S7A /S7A Pro is on sale -- NMT is  sigma designs 8655 based, and has unique 5.1 audio

fw support autoplay on bootup (reads a particular folder and plays em for you, which may include picture/movies/audio). so powering up the NMT hooked to an audio device would not require your LCD on 100% to play, thanks to its autoplay function

I bought my Himedia HD 600B last month from Digitag and upgraded from Xtreamer, WD Media Player & have Roku XDS for online video streaming.

Here's why it's impressed me so far:

-7.1 DTS HD Master Audio raw output to my Onkyo receiver a sonic revelation compared to the previous ordinary NMT HDMI pass through.

-Interface is fast, clean and response is snappy. Video quality is stable and more refined that my previous.

-I'm done with fans; this never gets hot at all and is dead quiet. Xtreamer started get weird and noisy after 2 years. Fanless is greatness.

-The aluminum shell is gorgeous, and the one click open and internal hard drive is genius; this will be imitated & will definitely put Himedia in the NMT map

-Remote is the best for an NMT I have tested. So intuitive and feels expensive compared to the cheap feeling China brands

-DLNA & Samba functionality are also bonus expansion features and built-in antenna-free wireless is responsive. I have made it work streaming media from my Android phone via free app iMediaShare . I have a Sapido GR-1222 media router with Samba and will be connecting it HiMedia soon to stream HD videos wirelessly.

-The online channels display is clean and really works. Though not also smooth as Roku, it's decent and really works, with video, audio podcast and as well as the usual suspects like Youtube.

Having bought Xteamer & WD Media one month after their release, I have continued the pioneering risk by getting Himedia 600B after it's May international release. Considering it has all these features and more for NMT double the price, it is definitely groundbreaking.

Sirs, does anybody experienced this on you 600b? I've upgraded to the fw to 1.0.3.4 and while watching a movie and tried stopping dahil call of nature,  tapos noong play ko ulit nag play from the beginning tapos noong resume ko kung saan yung last scene, nag punta sa last scene pero stop yung video pero yung audio tuloy parin. I have tried another file format pero same pa rin siya. Have tried to play ulit from the beggining but this time using the time seek button pero ganoon din when it goes to the scene. The video freezes while audio is still playing. Kaya nag tiyaga muna na nanood from the beginning at di na inistop.

am on 1.0.3.3 and that's worse, coz it hangs. period. even the remote wont let your power off. I guess that's a bug. I notice most of the bugs are may be related to being green " sleep mode" of disks.  not sure if your fw allow you to disable green (i.e. keep the disk.)
did you pause or did you stop?

yes i have stop the movie but when i've played it again nag hang na yung video when seeking the last scene. one thing i have noticed during this process  is that i'm playing a mp4 video at internal hdd siya , so i have tested it again using a external drive and now a different video format mkv and it plays okay using time seek button.  tested in stop and start to the last scene okay din siya. Also when safely shutting down nag hang din siya it says "power off" hanggang doon na lang.

put up with the current version of FW,
as a workaround when you need to stop:
- suggest you press info, check the time played, para you can just seek the spot via the search button.
escalate to himedia support, wait for the next release siguro.

I still think its green (disk power down ) feature might be interfering, pero kailangan nya yun kasi wala ngang fan.

I used thumbgen.org and worked well for movies

Is there any similar program for mp3s?

What is the preferred way of organizing music files

Artist first or album first?

appreciate your suggestions

Just discovered how to use the BT.

1. Goto setup>network and activate Samba and BT
2. Goto Network Info and check the IP address of HD600A
3. Goto your PC internet browser and input the IP address. (take note PC browser)
4. You'll see a login screen, default login/password is admin/123
5. You'll be able to do ur BT download settings and insert .torrent files there.

Can anyone please post a screen shot of the file manager page of this player?

I'd like to know if you can see the list containing the full file names and possibly the dates of files in a folder.

I have Kaiboer M1073 plus. Because of the preview screen, only a partial scrolling file name is displayed. It is slow navigating through this. If I disable preview, the empty preview box remains.

this model uses the aluminum casing as heat sink that absorbs the heat from the internal hard drive and the design works.  without the internal hard drive the casing is not warm.  you can also power off the internal hard drive if you will use external drive so that it will not build any heat and you can turn on the power if you intend to use the internal hard drive again.

if you installed the sidewinder 2 firmware, you lose the internal hdd power off option of himedia.

the top loading disk is still good. the only time i got a hang was when i used it 48 hours straight for torrent at night and playback at day time. Opening the "hood" while in operation and ensuring a fan is active (laptop fan with USB powered), ok na siya pang damagan.
