If you are into 3d or have a 3dtv or planning to have 3d in the future, then obviously dont go for this player. Its not 3d capable.
I have one that i got from the Samsung promo with blupass. Im thinking of maybe selling it coz of the non 3d factor.

how is the bdp 5100 compared to sony's s380?

Hi all,
I have a new LG 32LV3400 HDTV would it work seamlessly if I pair it with this Samsung BD-D5100? I am planning to get one because it's more affordable compared to the other brands.
Thanks!

Any display panel with HDMI would work to achieve HD signal.

If you're refering to the synch commands between TV and this Samsung BD D5100 player, it works with both our Panasonic plasma (c10) and LG LED (2500) - automatically switches the player when AV is pressed, and conversely switches the TV to the AV HDMI input what the player is turned on.

is this player capable of bitstreaming AC3/DTS through HDMI when playing MKV files?
i can't seem to find a definite answer from the online manual, detailed info provided was for BD & DVD only...

wikipeadia say BD-D5100 has cinavia on its later firmware (1019.3). I just wanted to point it out.

It's a copy protection.
You will only be affected if you try to copy the audio from the BD through HDMI out, optical/coax digital or analog RCA out

no, it only will appear on movies with cinavia watermarking. As of now only a few titles have it. Mostly sony a few Warner and fox films. Refer to the wiki link for movie with it, currently the list is incomplete.

Need Help, my BD5100 just wont play any Bluray disc & audio CD, getting disc error cannot read disc. But DVD disc are OK.
Anyone experienced this trouble? I already clean the lens using disc cleaner, still no success.

Try the following.
Reset to factory settings
Update Firmware
If its still warranty, ask for service

Had this unit before but wasn't able to use it because when I was testing it after it was stored for about a month or so it was rejecting all types of discs. Ended up selling it to an officemate for token fee. He brought it to a Samsung repair shop in Tambo, Paranaque which replaced a defective motherboard (I think) for free since based daw sa serial no. of the unit it is still under warranty (I bought it here in PDVD and there was no receipt) and so he had the last laugh on me, Maybe you could do the same.

Maraming salamat, I'll take your advice

Thanks sir! is your 2tb WD USB Powered or AC Powered?
Thanks again!
-
AC powered brother...also have a 500GB Seagate USB powered that I use sparingly for HD music videos & trailers.
-
I have 2TB Desktop External HD AC Powered, no issues with my BD-D5100.
I think even if its portable, it will work

My BD-d5100 suddenly stops reading bluray/dvd disc :'( The bad is that out of warranty na. Di naman sya masyado nagagamit sa bluray playing kasi i only have less than 10 BDs. But it still can function as HD player. Ano kaya ang problema, is it the lens? HELP!!!
-
My Samsung BD-D5100 has also started exhibiting problems - sometimes does't read BD or DVD and if it does, intermittently (picture goes on and off). Can we have a running list of members having problems with this player so we can collectively complain to Samsung..
-
magkano na kaya eto ngayon mga bossing? planning to get this as my first blueray player ;D
-
dami na nagbebenta nyan brother sa Marketplace...meron na din 5300...3.5K range.

If .ts files cannot be played, try renaming the .ts file extension to .mpeg.

thanks for the suggestion sir...Google'd it and it seems a viable solution.
Was afraid of the resolution going down but it seems to be a non-issue...
