Hi guys,
Looking for opinions and comments regarding Rega turntables: Stock RP3 v.s. RP6, how big of a difference do these turntables have between each other? Is the performance negligible from an RP3 to an RP6?
Currently planning on building another turntable setup for a new flat.
Thanks in advance.
Jurgen
P.S. If you have other TT recommendations well within the price range of an RP3 and an RP6 please do share and tell me why if you can. Thanks!

Using the same cart, i doubt if their sound would differ that much.

rp3 and rp6 have the same 303 arm. the only diff of the 6 are rigid braces, slightly heavier glass platter yata And a p9 footer. subukan mong mag thump sa floor or sa TT stand kung may vibration. do it on both table. sa rp3 merong feedback hindi ko lang alam sa rp6 kse iba na yung isolation footer nya. but if you can have the wall mounted TT stand ng rega, just like doc endrick wala ka ng problema, just get the rp3. Btw, anong cart ba ang napupusuan mo pong ilagay on your planned TT?

Well, apart from the differences you mentioned. Another difference would be the stock cartridges they come with. The RP3 comes with an Elys 2, while the RP6 comes with an Exact cartridge.
So my question is, is the price difference worth it?
Or perhaps I should consider other turntables in these price range as well?

pwede naman sir na walng cart na bibilhin mo kht anong turntable. pwede mo namang pa less yung price ng cart sa bundle. it can be done. exact is a good mm cart but with a price like of a 2m black. maganda nang mc cart yang presyo ng exact eh. siguro baka more or less mabawasan ng 25-30k yang rp6 pag walang cart.
assuming the rega rp6 is close to a 100k with cart, ill look for a vpi or avid that is within the price range.

Well true, I'm actually looking at Regas primarily because I don't want to tinker as much. However, provided a Rega RP6 comes in cartless. Which cart in your opinion goes well with it? Dynavector? Ortofon?

the cart would depend on your preferred genre sir.

Yes of course. Thought I posted it here, placed it in my speaker thread. I listen to mostly sould and jazz, vocals, and a good mix of slow rock and blues.

i prefer benz micro over ortofon. lyra is good too and dynavector and so is transfiguration cart. i prefer mc cart sir kase mas open and detailed yung presentation. mas versatile at pwede sa lahat ng genre.

I tried several MC cart before, maganda detail kaso a bit lacking sa bass specially if rock and metal music.

I have the shure M44-7 before. I find the Nagaoka mp110 better.

cart changes everything... hihihihi..

Totoo yan brader. Sa analogue madaling baguhin character ng tunog, most carts' sound differ. Sa cd player fixed na character. :)

RP6?
No its the rp3 Union Jack edition.
@bolahan,
It sounded good but I can't really say how good, as I've never auditioned any other turntable.

I had a Rega P1 which is similar to a RP1, i found it difficult to upgrade the stylus since the arm couldn't increase the VTF to more than 1.3g on a number of cartridges. This results in cartridges not reaching its full potential. Sold it instead. The RP3 can handle more cartridges. Hopee this helps....

Thanks sir your answer helped a lot. That is also my prob. I have an unused denon dl 103 for a almost a year now. Someone told me that I can't use it with my rp1 because of the weight or something. So I did not bother to try and install it. If I buy the rp3, will I be able to use my dl 103 with it? Thanks sir
-
One thing that is not said is that the RP6 comes with the TT-PSU, which allows for on-the-fly adjustment of speed (33 and 45). This is a nice upgrade from the RP3 which does not have the TT-PSU.
Otherwise, the RP6 is basically a modded RP3. The mods include a better platter constructed to enhance the "flywheel effect" and better bracing.
