Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil has found its leading man: Boardwalk Empire alum Charlie Cox.
Sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter that Cox will star as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer by day and crime-fighting hero by night in the 13-episode drama.
Cox becomes the first person cast in the drama series based on the Marvel Entertainment comics of the same name. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lost alum Drew Goddard was set to serve as showrunner on the series. After signing on to Sony's Spider-Man spinoff Sinister Six, Goddard was replaced over the holiday weekend by Spartacus (and Buffy) alum Steven S. DeKnight, who will now oversee the show. Goddard will remain on as an exec producer and serve as a consultant on the drama.

Following last month's announcement of Charlie Cox in the title role, Marvel has revealed that Vincent D'Onofrio will play Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin, in the upcoming "Daredevil" Netflix series.
The role previously played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan in the 2003 feature film, this iteration of the Kingpin is officially described as being "a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil."
“We’re incredibly proud to have an actor with the gravitas and versatility of Vincent joining 'Marvel’s Daredevil' in such an integral role,” says Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero."

Rosario Dawson Joins Marvel’s Daredevil

Marvel and Netflix announced today that Sin City and Kids star Rosario Dawson is set to join the cast of "Marvel's Daredevil," the new 13-episode series coming to Netflix in 2015.
Dawson will, according to the press release, play "a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city." She joins Charlie Cox (previously announced as Matt Murdock) and Vincent D’Onofrio (previously announced as Wilson Fisk).

Marvel Entertainment has announced today that actor Scott Glenn (The Silence of the Lambs, The Bourne Ultimatum) has joined the cast of "Marvel's Daredevil" in the role of Stick, Matt Murdock's martial arts instructor and mentor.
"Stick is one of the most important figures in Matt Murdock's life and Scott Glenn embodies all the qualities of someone so integral to this hero's journey," said Jeph Loeb, Marvel's Head of Television. "There are few actors who could bring such the authenticity, gravitas and charisma to such a key role in Matt's journey to become the super hero we call Daredevil."
Created by comic writer Frank Miller during his legendary run on the character, Stick was the blind martial artist who taught the young Matt Murdock to turn his remaining senses into the "radar" that would allow him to "see" the world as Daredevil. Though the character didn't appear in 2003's Daredevil, he did appear in the 2005 Elektra spin-off, in which he was played by none other than the original General Zod himself, Terence Stamp

I'm into episode 5 but the story seems similiar like that in Arrow.just finished daredevil season 1. i like it better than arrow and flash. the story is dark and direct. Action scenes are really great too!

regarding fight scenes, walang binatbat ang Arrow dito. i remember this one fight scene where it was only took with one shot. yung fight scene sa hall way with the kidnapped boy.
That fight scene reminded me of Park Chan-wook's Oldboy hallway fight.

there are no plans yet but they haven't exactly said there won't be one. Steven S. DeKnight talks of a possibility for a season 2:
“I have absolutely no idea. No matter what show you do, there’s always a possibility of a second season. Nothing’s been talked about, nothing’s been decided. If I had my druthers, would we do a second season? Sure, I think it would warrant it. In regards to The Defenders and how that works, I think it would work pretty much like the movies. You could do season 1 of Daredevil, you do season 2, and depending on where the other shows fall, you might get second season of Jessica Jones… There’s really no way of telling, it’s really a grand experiment.”

Gotham, Flash and Arrow marami pang CGI special effects and the fight scenes typical choreographed. Etong Daredevil mas realistic and gritty and dark. The fighting is great!

I'd say...he can watch it provided you're around. The language's pretty salty and the violence levels are quite high.

Strictly not for kids...there's a reason why this series is on Netflix rather than on the public TV networks--the violence is turned up high that's suitable for mature viewers only. There are stabbings, shootings, decapitation, amputations, and worse. Even with parents nearby, I don't think kids deserve to see a man's head crushed to a pulp by repeatedly slamming it with an AUV door, or someone reaching into a corpse's rib cage and breaking off one to use as a shiv.
As for Madame Gao, she might turn up next in the other Marvel street heroes series, most probably Iron Fist.

Ah well, different strokes for different folks.
Daredevil isn't as flashy as any of the MCU offerings or even the Agents series (SHIELD & Carter) but it is definitely a much better specimen than the Ben Affleck film.
Wonder when Elektra will make an appearance (I did mention Matt Murdock making a pass at a Greek-American classmate...could that be the future Elektra?)

The thing that made Daredevil superb and stand out on its own for me was that there was no S.H.I.E.L.D. involvement, or anything about the Inhumans--the Inhumans are boring for me, heh
Are you referring to episode 10, the flashback sequence where Foggy asks Matt whatever happened to that Greek classmate, and Matt replied, "it didn't work out."
That was indeed Elektra, and hopefully we'll be seeing her in season 2, along with the Hand storyline involving Stick, Black Sky, and that mysterious tattooed man Stick was conversing with in episode 7.

Not necessarily. Jessica Jone's first few seasons were okay but the story got slow and dragged on for me.
DD 2nd Season is great! 'Hope Netflix makes a stand alone Punisher series.

the story with Elektra was taken from an old DareDevil comic book (80's circa I think), and what DD and Elektra were discussing before the final fight with the ninja's was also taken from a What If Marvel comics in the 80's ... I believe I still have those, will do some digging :)

Charlie Cox Reveals The Defenders Will Begin Production This Year

March was a big month for the street level heroes of New York, with the second season premiere of Marvel’s Daredevil and the announcement that Marvel’s Luke Cage would be premiering in September. The year has only just begun though, as production on Marvel’s Iron Fist is set to start soon, but according to The Man Without Fear, the big culminating event of The Defenders is already on the calendar as well.
“What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome,” Charlie Cox said at a Netflix event in Paris (via Independent/Comic Book). “I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.”
What about those leftover plot threads at the end of the season? Cox also confirmed he still doesn’t know about a third season of Daredevil, and he’s not sure if any unanswered questions will be answered in The Defenders.
“In terms of wrapping up any storylines, maybe they’ll do some of that in The Defenders. Or maybe they won’t.”
Marvel’s Defenders will be made up of Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Iron Fist. It’s unclear who will be the showrunner for the series or when it will premiere.

Filming wrapped up on the team-up show The Defenders Season 1 last month, and it’s unknown how the events of that show will effect Matt Murdock and company going forward. With shooting to take place later in 2017, we wouldn’t expect the third season to drop any sooner than an early 2018 frame.
We do know that Cox has said multiple times (via ScreenGeek) that he wants Bullseye to pop up as the bad guy.
“It’s no secret, I’ve said it before and I get in trouble every time I say it, I’d like to see Bullseye make an appearance at some point,” Cox stated in November. “I think it’s a really interesting opportunity. Deborah Ann Woll obviously does not want Bullseye to show up for obvious reasons. Elodie Yung, who plays Elektra, doesn’t want Bullseye to show up either.”

Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3 Adds Hart of Dixie’s Wilson Bethel
Wilson Bethel (Hart of Dixie, Generation Kill) has joined the cast of Marvel’s Daredevil season 3, according to Variety. Bethel will portray an FBI agent, who’s role is reportedly critical to what’s going on between Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Though we don’t know any more about the series regular role, there was a character description for an FBI agent that leaked a few months back, leading some fans to assume that this might be the Marvel character Sin-Eater, a.k.a. Stanley Carter. Carter was an NYPD officer who used to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and, after an experimental drug made him insane, spends time trying to punish those he feels are sinful.
Wilson Bethel joins returning cast members Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin) and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson).
Erik Oleson (Kings, The Man in the High Castle) will be the new showrunner for the series. Oleson will be the third new showrunner for the series, replacing Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who were co-showrunners on the second season of the series. Steven DeKnight was the showrunner in the inaugural season.
Production on Marvel’s Daredevil Season 3 is set to begin shooting this year and will premiere on Netflix in 2018.

Marvel’s Daredevil Adds Joanne Whalley as Matt Murdock’s Mom
Fans may recall the ending of Marvel’s The Defenders. As a bedridden Matt Murdock suffers from his wounds, one of the nearby nuns says “Get Maggie. Tell her he’s awake.” That name drop is a bombshell for fans of Daredevil comic books, as Sister Maggie is none other than Matt Murdock’s very own mother, and Marvel has now cast the part!
Joanne Whalley (The Borgias, Gossip Girl, Wolf Hall) has joined the cast in the pivotal role, which appears to indicate that the series will be taking its cues from the “Born Again” storyline wherein The Kingpin finally learns the identity of Daredevil and becomes obsessed with killing the man without fear.
“We are big fans of Joanne’s work and are fortunate that someone of her caliber will be joining our already talented family,” said executive producer Jeph Loeb.
Showrunner Erik Oleson adds: “Joanne is a rare talent and a terrific creative collaborator. Watching her bring her role to life has the writers all pinching ourselves.”
She joins a cast that includes Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), and Wilson Bethel.

I was actually expecting Dex to get to Vanessa in the penthouse but not to the point of killing her, sayang it didn't happen. It would certainly give more impact to Matt's proposition to Fisk. All that much of a build up for the Fisks then just like that it all went down. ;D

The writers of the Netflix TV shows have a knack for writing the villains. Kingpin and Bullseye were exceptional!
The first 4 episodes were kind of a drag. But once Kingpin and Bullseye started doing their thing by episode 5, I was hooked!

I just finished the season, and yes, I agree that it's much better than Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.
I kinda feel sorry for Agent Nadeem though. I was really hoping he'd somehow get a happy ending. :-[

Charlie Cox Breaks His Silence on Daredevil’s Abrupt End
The shock of the sudden cancellation of Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix has left a lot of viewers confused, particularly after that terrific last season. Yet, those involved in the project have remained surprisingly mum on the subject. At least, until the show’s star, Charlie Cox, finally stepped forward and offered his thoughts about the abrupt end to one of Netflix’s biggest shows in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“A lot of us really expected to keep going, and I certainly did,” he told EW. “The truth is, I felt like we had a lot of stories to tell, and although I understand [the cancellation], I’m very saddened by that.
“It’s just how business works,” he continued. “But also, these characters mean a lot to people. It’s weird to think there’s a chance I won’t be playing Matt Murdock ever again. That’s a bizarre feeling, because that character has been such a huge part of my life for the last four and a half years.”
Cox went on to explain how much he loved playing the character, and even called the gig a “dream job” due to the level of acting and physical skill involved.
The actor also discussed season 4, which was already being talked about once season 3 ended. In fact, according to EW, writers had already begun laying the groundwork for Daredevil’s next adventure; ideas that Cox was excited explore. However, he remained mum discussing any details so as to not give fans hope for something that may not actually happen.
Instead, he simply concluded that, if asked to play the character again, he’d be ready to don the mask once more.
“Oh my God, yeah,” he said. “I don’t know how this would happen, but maybe one day we could pick up the baton and do it again.”

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige sat down with CinemaBlend recently, and fielded out questions about Daredevil and the character’s potential in the MCU now that his Netflix show has run its course. CinemaBlend asked Feige what he thought about Charlie Cox being able to stay in the part. The usually covert Kevin Feige confirmed the news that so many fans will want to hear when he told CinemaBlend:
“If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen.”
Kevin Feige still kept some cards close to his vest with regards to the future of Daredevil when it comes to a concrete timeline, but those who loved Charlie Cox’s portrayal of the character can rejoice in knowing that he will return to Hell’s Kitchen at some point in the MCU and patrol the streets on behalf of the neighborhood’s citizens.

A new “Daredevil” series is moving forward at Disney+, with Variety having exclusively learned from sources that Matt Corman and Chris Ord are attached to write and executive produce.
Rumors have persisted for some time that a Disney+ series about the Man Without Fear was in the works, especially considering that two of the stars of the Netflix “Daredevil” series — Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio — have appeared in recent Marvel projects. Cox once again played Matt Murdock, the secret identity of Daredevil, in the film “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” while D’Onofrio reprised the role of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in the Disney+ series “Hawkeye.”
It now appears that the project is picking up steam with the hiring of Corman and Ord, although Marvel has yet to announce anything regarding the show formally. Corman and Ord most famously co-created the USA Network series “Covert Affairs” starring Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham.
