Hello, I am currently auditioning a Musical Fidelity LX-LPS phono preamp. Compared to my Musical Fidelity V-LPSII, both share the same input impedance (47K ohms for MM, 100 ohms for MC). The LX-LPS has input sensitivity listed as 3.0 mV for MM and 300 for MC. The V-LPSII has 3.5 and 450 respectively.
Using a Denon DL110 cart, I prefer using the MC input of the XLPSII. It just sounds "fuller" than the MM. But in the newer LX-LPS, the MC input just sounds a lot louder as compared to the VLPSII. In this case, I prefer using the MM input which has a higher gain as compared to the VLPII's MM input.
If i were to choose the best setting, I would go with the MM input of the LX-LPS, followed by the MC of the VLPSII. The MM of the VLPSII is weak in terms of volume while I find the MC of the LX-LPS too loud (as in cd player loud). Does this mean that lower input sensitivity produces higer gain? Does this make any sense?

That Denon cart is MC right? I'm surprised you can use the MM inputs on the MF phono-stages. Unless you are using a step-up transformer?

It's a high output MC so you can plug it directly to the MM input of the phono stage.
