Title: The Orville
Post by: AshKetchum on May 16, 2017 at 09:42 AM
Set 400 years in the future, the series follows the crew of the U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory vessel as it faces the wonders and dangers of outer space. Oh all right, it's a spoof of Star Trek--FOX has ordered 13 episodes, with Jon Favreau directing the pilot.

Cast includes Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Scott Grimes, Penny Johnson Jerald, Peter Macon, Mark Jackson, J. Lee, Halston Sage, Norm MacDonald as the voice of Yaphit

Premiere date: Fall 2017
Network: FOX

... looks like one of Seth McFarlane's animated series but live-action this time. And it appears they spared no expense with the special effects.

Seen it.  It had its moments, but if it is going for that Galaxy Quest vibe, then I think it has to work harder.  I will probably check out episode 2 and maybe 3, then decide whether this is worth it.

It lacked any excitement for me.

I like Episode 4 but still I hate McFarlane's beady eyes.

I tried watching episode 3, and I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes.

The first 6 episodes were actually better and more star trek-like than the first 5 episodes of that dreary, moody and dark STD.

I'm liking The Orville so far. A couple of the episodes are a bit boring, which is very much like any Star Trek series run. Not a parody show. It's Star Trek: Th Next Generation but with bits of comedy sprinkled in, nowhere near anything like Galaxy Quest.

It's a good companion piece to ST: Disco for those who still clamor for the old-style productions.
