Title: Diatone Twin Idler Drive Turntable
Post by: ding45 on Oct 18, 2017 at 10:16 AM
Just got in possession of a Diatone Idler Drive Tt with Mitsubishi sld5500 cart ( a hand me down from a friend who is migrating to Canada)....Listening to it I noticed a strange sound specially during quiet passages and in between the record tracks which is very faint and sounds like a bulldozer on an asphalt road (I can hear it only when I put my ears near the speakers). Any one know the origin of this sound?  How to eliminate? TIA

bulldozer on asphalt sounds like my amp when the pots needed replacement due to leaking. after I had it diagnosed and replaced, it was gone.

in fairness to this idler drive Tt it still sounds very good despite the questionable cartridge and the faint background noise..thinking of replacing the cartridge with audio technical AT95e...hope the AT95e doesn't magnify the background noise...FWIW am enjoying this turntable as much as my Denon DD Tt with grado green.
