Here's another freeware. However, I have not tested this yet but from the screenshots, it looks promising.

Sayang.  Was looking for one months ago.  Unfortunately, most were not freeware or lacked the features I was looking for.  Ended up making one for Palm OS PDA's.

Thanks for the links.  Will try this out and try to get it to sync with my Palm database so that I have desktop and mobile versions.

btw, can any of these programs get my present database from dvdaficionado.com?
i think it's quite a handful to input everything again

can anyone suggest a freeware dvd database program that can do that?
