puwede din basta pahiramin mo ako ng DVD's ;) will go to Riverbanks later baka may titles ka na gustong pa tingnan baka available so pagpunta mo sa weekend you would know how many you will be able to bring home.
I think VIVA is doing the right thing by reducing its price to 299 lalo na sa lugar like Riverbanks kasi ang dami dito na P......DVD, at least medyo competitive na yung price nila :D

I even asked the person in the counter to check their inventory, i even leaned on the counter to see the comp. monitor at tlagang nkita ko n "0" opposite POTC2 DVD3. he advised me to check Astro the Block and b4 i left he decided to call Astro the Block & the other person on the line confirmed it's out of stock as well in their branch. Better call first kung ngreplenish ng stocks.

sir sayang mayron sa The Block. I was there mga 8pm last night, and bought several titles pero did not get both POTC 1 & 2 kasi mayron na ako. Although yung POTC-1 lang and 2 disc yung POTC-2 single disc lang.

bought monsters inc.. i really hate the new black keepcases viva supplies for their two discers. Aside from looking cheap, the disc holder for disc 1 is poorly designed and my copy was loose :( Puro scratches tuloy... their other copies also had this problem.
i hope they bring back the clear plastic cases

Huwag lang iyung (1-disc) clear case ng 'Devil Wears Prada', 'Fight Club' reissue, etc. which are even worst than the 2-disc black Amaray that comes with recent 2-discs.

and i must say that there were titles there that i did'nt find at the block...
kaso sa dami hirap lalo mamili ng DVDs (i from wall to wall and back ;D )nice DVD hunting experience ;D
best tip is just ask the sales rep if they have what you're looking for :D

from SM Manila Dept store. i think there are still several copies available as of last sunday. pakalat kalat lang dun. borat i bought from SM Manila Odyssey. sila lang sa SM Manila ang may 299 na borat. the rest of the stores asa 550 pa rin. :)

just bought myself DERAILED, XMEN 3, and THELMA AND LOUISE SPECIAL EDITION at odyssey, sm valenzuela. dun ko lang nakita ung thelma and i never thought that viva released it. konting typo errors sa back cover but it has an insert. ;D

Yup, they are included in the sale. I managed to snag one at SM Cubao - dun sa bargain bin area nila in the ground floor. Isa na lang ang natira though (2 yung nakita ko, as of July 28, 7PM).
For those looking for X3 na P299 lang. Meron sa Shopwise Antipolo, pero loose yung discs sa loob. 1 copy na lang.

I just got back fom Pampanga and I passed by Astrovision in SM Pampanga. They still have Finding Nemo, Monsters INc., Mulan, bambi, Tarzan, Pirates of the Caribbean 1, Bug's Life, Cars, etc.
I was hoping I can get another copy of the 2-disc Lion King but it seems this title is really out-of-print now.

all i can say is Viva has good releases specially their Disney ones....but they have very very very poor marketing strategy specially when it comes to pricing...
hwag na sila magrelease ng 1 disc edition kung may 2 disc edition...at hwag nilang gawin 1 disc ang 2 disc edition then ayusin nila pricing in such a way lahat makabili....ng d nalilito tao...mamya 900 biglang 750 then 550 then 450 then 299, two years ago nag 250 pa ang laht ng 299 ngayn 3+1.... :o

Yeah. Especially when it comes to their pricing, magulo talaga. Their P299 sale is still on going. But when I went to Odyssey Gateway, some P299 titles went back to their original prices (like The Devil Wears Prada). Then when I went to Video City Farmers Plaza, The Devil Wears Prada is still on its sale price at P299. Kaya whenever I buy Viva DVDS, I check all video shops muna sa mall dahil baka naka-sale pala, ang laking sayang.

Video city market market has the 299 titles at 3+1 promo :) I was planning of getting alien set but parts 1,3, and 4 are the only ones available :( swak na sana kung may aliens(alien 2) 900 for the set lang. Anyone saw aliens at other branches? thanks

For those who are looking for POTC:Dead Man's Chest 2disc w/ slipcase for P299. Meron sa Astro Podium, pero unsealed sya. Sabi nung saleslady nasira lang daw yung plastic, pero the case & slipcase itself is still in good condition, I even looked at the disc kung may scratch, pero wala naman. Nag iisa na lang yun as of saturday afternoon.

I see, dati kasi bumili ako ng finding nemo R3 (sale at P350) and it has a booklet inside. Also yung POTC: 1 na lumabas dati (which I also got at P350), has a booklet. Some Pixar R3 2 disc release kasi merong booklet.

My R3 Finding Nemo has an insert. My POTC1 I don't know yet as it's still unsealed. My Aladdin SE R3 has an insert (Scene selections guide). Sky High R3 has an insert (Scene selections guide). Cars R3 has an insert (Scene selections guide). A Bug's LIfe has an insert (Scene selections guide). POTC2 has an insert (Scene selections guide).

Yung Monster's Inc. R3 ko wala pero yung inlay nya (DVD cover) printed both sides kaya maganda sa transparent case.
Yung Incredibles ko naman ay R1. merong booklet na kasama at may DVD guide listing the branching of menus and submenus: features.

Went to Odyssey Robinson's Galleria last night and stumbled upon BORAT slipcase edition & The Curse of the Golden Flower on sale at P299@. Both are new releases and DTS version. Don't know if you've seen them in other video stores. I think these are the latest releases on sale. Or are they?

It's weird that VIVA titles I alreadly bought a week ago like Cocktail, Raising Helen etc. at 150pesos per were 299 during Astro Podium's sale. And titles like Aliens, Curse of the Golden Flower, Master and Commander, The Guardian, Borat and around 15 more titles that I was able to get at 250pesos per were back to 299pesos per during said sale. I am getting dizzy with these sale promos, it's getting crazier whether these are really bargain promos or just plain sales talk promo! Though not everything was lost coz I was able to get titles like Charlotte's Web for only 299 pesos, when it was not even included in the sale last week. I also got some 299 titles like Over the Hedge, Open Season and some other titles which were 333 during the sale last week. What's even funnier is that The Gladiator boxed set was below 1000 outside Astro Podium during the sale last weekend and was above 1000pesos in the store itself. They can't even have the same price for the same title. This also happened during the last sale in Astro SM MOA, The Gladiator boxed set was 999pesos outside Astro and 1500pesos in the store itself. The manager was dumbfounded on how he can sell this particular title.

According to the Viva people, there are anti piracy sales going on in different stores and different schedule. I think the latest happened in Landmark and SM Makati. Prices really went down to P150 and some new titles daw like Meet the Robinsons, Night at the Museum were sold at P250.
This will happen again sometime soon in another venue like Robinsons and Mega. So let's just watch out. If you know people from Viva,maybe it would be helpful if you can POST the schedules.

I got Alien 20th Anniversary Edition at SM Mega Department Store @ P199. I saw Platoon selling at P250. Dejavu at P299. The DVDs are being sold not inside the department store but right outside the hall way at the 3rd floor. I also got the 3rd Alien (P199 too ) so I have now completed the Alien Series.

Yung Brokeback Mountain na nabili ko kanina is in Full Screen. DVD9 nga, pero 5.51 Gb lang. Pangit ang PQ, can't comment yet on the SQ coz sa laptop ko pa lang sinubukan. And wala atang subtitles. Even at sale price of PhP100... not worth it, IMHO!

Just don't buy those dvds with a tag price of 150 reduced to 100. Parang mga enhanced VCD quality. Sayang pera!!!

If you see a title with a Viva logo that DOES NOT contain a Disney or a 20th Century Fox logo, you are 99% sure that will be a locally-pressed fullscreen DVD with poor picture quality. Audio is frequently DD 2.0, rarely 5.1. Avoid these like the plague.
If the Viva title also contains the Disney or Fox logo, then despite its cover/casing (which may or may not be lousy), the disc itself is an imported DVD with great picture quality in the correct aspect ratio. It is the same disc that is released in all R3 countries, and usually has a DD 5.1 track. A few have a DTS track, just check for the DTS logo at the back.
That's the best rough guide you can follow. To ask someone to post all those titles would be quite difficult.

Yun nga lang pag marami kang sale na nakikita... nakakalimutan mo na ring i-check pa yung details sa likod. Like what happened with me with Brokeback... dami ko na kasing hawak nun.. anyways, ok na rin yung binayad ko na PhP 100 kasi di ko pa naman napapanood yung movie.. hehehe.. will just treat the PhP 100 as movie watching expense. Tapos pwede pang ipamigay na lang afterwards. ;)

Naku, mabuti di ko nabili yung RULES OF ENGAGEMENT kahapon at P100. Ang iniisip ko naman, baka DVD5 ang disc kaya I restraint myself.

Reason is the Con Air R3 edition is the original NON ANAMORPHIC TRANSFER which means it is not enhanced for widescreen TVs. All non anamorphic transfers with aspect ratio of 2.35:1 really looks like this. Nothing wrong here. This is the very first release of Con Air. The other release is the Unrated Version / Extended Cut which carries the Anamorphic Transfer with an aspect ratio of 2.15:1 ( close to 2.35:1), but with no extras and no DTS. This is not released here in Pinas.
So be happy na with your Con Air - it has DTS for a loud "sound trip" experience and I think may konting pa yatang SF yan that are not found in the R1 releases.
Now that we talked about this, I think I will watch my Con Air dvd tonight which I bought last year pa at P299! Sealed pa nga eh. Thanks for reminding me bro.

All non anamorphic transfers with aspect ratio of 2.35:1 really looks like this. Nothing wrong here. This is the very first release of Con Air. The other release is the Unrated Version / Extended Cut which carries the Anamorphic Transfer with an aspect ratio of 2.15:1 ( close to 2.35:1), but with no extras and no DTS. This is not released here in Pinas.
So be happy na with your Con Air - it has DTS for a loud "sound trip" experience and I think may konting pa yatang SF yan that are not found in the R1 releases.
Now that we talked about this, I think I will watch my Con Air dvd tonight which I bought last year pa at P299! Sealed pa nga eh. Thanks for reminding me bro.

Who calls the shot in this pricing scheme? The store or the distributor? Isn't it disappointing to know that some store (Astro) doesn't have the same price with their other branches? 50-100pesos makes a lot of difference especially if you buy in bulk.

I got Brother Bear 2disc edition Region 1 @ P199 at Astro Mega. Is this also available in other Astros? Puro region 3 kasi yung nasa ibang store. I guess this is really a steal at P199. Or might be another case of misprice? Early Christmas gift for my kids.

prices are different per shop. Got James Bond Tomorrow Never Dies for Php 100 but from other shops, it's priced at Php199. Also Epic movie is Php199 from the same shop of 007 for Php100 while from the other shops it is for Php299. The best I got was Mission to Mars and Mr. 3000 for Php75 each! :o ::)

My wife misplaced it somewhere. Up to now I cant find it. Im thinking maybe she left it in the car and got lost or whatever.. :(

My suggestion is you tell the salesperson you want the double disc version, and ask them if it's okay to check. If they agree, open it in front of them before paying for it, just to make sure you're getting a two-disc version.

Astro V-Mall is unaware of this, and has reverted their prices to 550, 299, etc. No convincing on my part could make them see otherwise. So I returned the titles I was going to purchase today to their shelves.
Meanwhile, Odyssey on the third floor of V-Mall is aware of this, and has repriced everything to 299/199. In fact, the only two titles that I saw at 299 were Goal II and Meet the Robinsons. Everything else was 199. So... they took my cash instead of Astro today. ;D
So when in V-Mall, go up 2 more floors to find the better prices on Viva's Disney/Fox titles. ;D

Oh yes, they're well aware of this. That's where I bought my copy (at 299) the day after the Glorietta blast. Although at that time, I got their last copy, so you might want to call them first to ask if they have refurbished their stock for this title.

don't know with you guys, but i was at astro podium the other night and bought like 20 titles. ;D everything seems to be at P199. (well, not exactly. still plenty of P299 titles and a smattering of P595/895's. just that there are rows and rows of P199 ones). i bought some P199 titles though at astro metro east w/c i saw to be at a regular price of P299/350 at astro podium. so if i were you, i will hold off on buying a title i like if it's at regular price and look it up somewhere, or maybe wait for the next big sale.

Just purchased a Disney's Cinderalla DVD Cartoon na naka sale for P199 sa Astroplus for my daughter. Eh hinahanapan din ako ng Snow White, wala akong makitang DVD kahit saang DVD store. Talk about Disney cartoons, I was lucky to have grabbed The Simpsons 3-disc, Cinderella, Robin Hood and Cars when Astroplus Podium put them on sale at P150 each only. After that, they jacked up the prices.
