I just got back from Astrovision V-Mall, and was very surprised to see that ALL NEW MAGNAVISION IMPORTED DVD9s (Php 895) were BUY ONE, TAKE ONE.
And I really mean ALL: Even the newest releases are included - Ghost Rider 2-Disc Extended Cut with slipcase, The Pursuit of Happyness, Catch and Release, Smokin' Aces, Man of the Year... everything!
You really need to buy them in pairs, though, but at 447.50 per imported DVD9, it's really worth it.
The older imported titles also have a promo. I think it's Php 400 for 2 DVDs - Combination of 1 Old Imported DVD9 and 1 Budget DVD of your choice.
The other budget titles are still at 2 for 500 or 3 for 600.
Is this promo ongoing at all other shops, as well?

When I got my copy of 300 last Friday from Astroplus SM Makati the manager told me about the buy one take one promo on P895 dvds. I checked out the DVDs and they were indeed buy one take one! ;D Told the manager I'll be coming back the following (this) week. :D :D

Not with Odyssey/O Music, that is as of today. They were actually surprised to hear that the newest releases were already included, since it's only been a month. But this titles are really slooooow in sales, after all. this promo might get this titles going....at least.
Since I've mentioned O Music, they have a promo now. Titles priced at 333 became 400, and get 1 free budget DVD, you have to choose from the list though. Not bad, just add 67pesos and get a good titled budget DVD, a little more discount will almost lead you to the price of a p***d dvd.

Ya I was in astro virramall last nite..Saw this nga was really surprise na these new releases are included.
I got In Pursuit of Happyness and Ghost Rider. Was so happy hehe..To me if they can price like this within a month (for example). I think new releases should be priced like this or even lower to kill p....cy and of course have a bigger selection also..

There should be an official list re the buy1 take1 sale where recent releases are not included(i saw the list). Siya rin daw magbabayad ng kulang. As for the list, I didn't see Spidey2.1 and Mission Impossible 3 ???

I was also told the same sad news when I passed by this noon and said that there was a miscommunication regarding the pricing in one branch. Selected lang pala ang Buy-one-take-One na titles.

There's a MAJOR mistake somewhere, then.
I actually did NOT believe these new titles were included in the sale, and I even asked the girl at the counter to check on her computer if the prices were indeed lowered. She did, and I saw the items listed on the monitor of their central computer priced at 447.50. This is V-Mall, and apparently, it also happened at other branches. It could not have been just one promo girl's error. Several people made the mistake, so it's a company communication error. If Magna charges the poor promo girls for errors which weren't theirs, then:

I actually am sort of sad to see this promo. Since I got Pursuit of Happyness at full price. But oh well, Magnavision should just lower the price of new releases and stop all these promo.

From the titles I'd seen, these are titles that has been in the market for 3 months or more. Mostly titles that are discounted to Php 333 during sales with some exceptions.

Jaws (the 30th Anniversary Edition in Digipak, down to Php 650)
The Da Vinci Code (2-Disc, Slipcased)
Stranger Than Fiction
Perfect Stranger
Norbit
and several other B-movie Sony releases
I was also told that Children of Men is included, but Astro SM Makati didn't have stocks.

Some of the 50% discount titles were also down to 299 like Zoom, You Me Dupree. . .

I saw Children of Men at 50% off last weekend sale at Rockwell. But with all the P150 sales going on at the moment, it seems a little pricey pa. I'll wait for it na lang to go down to P299 or even P199. Who knows, maybe lower? You can never tell these days.

I bought Children of Men along with Flushed Away last weekend at Rockwell. The stocks of Children of Men are quite low so i didn't wait anymore since it was always hard to find. I only saw two copies of COM last weekend.

At Megamall, the relatively new releases Paprika & Hot Fuzz are also on 50% off. Hot Fuzz is based on P695 regular price while Paprika on P895 regular price (I don't know if in other shops this will already be based also on P695).

in the end, didnt buy the giftset. as far as i know, the gift set includes Langdon's diary, cryptex and the serial numbered certificate (limited release to 5000 only). there's a thread at R3 as to the contents....forgot the link ??? its just made from hard cardboard.
only saw one copy at Astro SM Makati yesterday, when i left, its still there :) priced at 2300, so at 50% off it will be 1150 only ;D

Yeah, they are priced now at 2,000 50% off. So 1,000 still cheaper than regular price but not true 50% off.

All SUPERBIT releases have no special features. Because they want to have enough disc space for their supposedly superior hi bitrate recording.
Although I think the new superbit releases have some SF although I haven't seen one except for the Silverado 2 disc which says it's a "Superbit" recording.

Nope its doesn't have special features. What i'm after is the superior bit rate recording and the DTS. The Ultimate edition is also superbit but i don't see it nowadays.

Yesssssssss, I know ;) But some superbit titles have special features. Just wanted to know if the Ultimate Edition was a repackaging of the Superbit edition because I seem to remember the UE disc itself having the Superbit logo. Could be a typo or something and I just wanted to confirm it.
Even then, that disc 1 alone contained the entire movie along with a trivia track. The disc 2 had the rest of the special features.

Ah, there you go! Thanks :) My copy of the Ultimate Edition has the entire movie on Disc 1 (with a trivia track) and with a DTS track -- while the rest of the features is on Disc 2. From what I understand, the superbit Fifth Element is spread out on two discs, right?
