Just got a call from Jimmy Lim -- they're pushing through with the VMall branch super sale this weekend, 26 October to 28 October. This year, the Astro chain is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and it all started in Greenhills. Aside from the usual price-offs and rock bottom discounts, they'll also be giving out a limited number of Jollibee GCs if your purchase hits Php500.
No other details for now but we'll keep you posted. See you there! :)

As per Jimmy Lim, it'll be similar to the last Astro Podium warehouse sale. Hopefully newer titles will be included.

1. No NEW sale items, the scheme is more or less the same as last weekend's sale for Viva titles, the Warner 199s are down to 175, etc. Not a very impressive selection.
2. If you're thinking about going later this pm, I'd reconsider, since tonight is the big undergrads/alumni La Salle UAAP celebration at La Salle Greenhills, so I'd expect heavy traffic. La Salle has a permit that allows one-lane parking along both sides of Ortigas Avenue later this afternoon.
3. Free 100 peso Jollibee gift certificate for every 500 peso purchase (Valid until October 31 only).

i was there one time (not sale season though) but wasn't able to buy anything. very limited selection even compared to astro metro east. baka mas varied pa ang selection sa astro podium, ah.
don't let this deter you though. baka naman maraming hakutin titles dun later today or tomorrow. mr. hankey, wala ba yung boxes and boxes of dvd's katulad nung last astro podium sale?

nothing spectacular about this sale except for the fact that you get a P100 gift certificate / P500 purchase, which is why i chose to get my Transformers 2-disc steelbook today. i even met a fellow PinoyDVD member. - nice meeting you sir alfie, hope you enjoy your transforming case. ;)

Good to have met you RanRan, I went there specifically for the Spiderman Trilogy, which sadly, they didn't put on sale.
I was able to buy the Transforming case even without any reservation, and it seems that they have a lot in stocks. Probably the halt the reservation step was a gimmick, enough to lure people like me to buy it immediately,thinking that it's a "privilege" to own one. ;)
So Astrovision Virra mall is the place to go to get the Transforming case, if you do not have any reservation. ;D
I espied 2 carton boxes of the transforming case being unloaded. :D

As a general rule, it's where transaction was made. Just bring receipt and they will gladly replace that.

Nothing really great about the sale. Most of the boxsets are on original prices, others you can also buy at P199 or P299 in other branches. Nonetheless, I bought several titles just so I can also avail of the jollibee gc which if you compute is additional discount for the titles you will buy..Got myself a total of P500gc:
Transformers (transforming package) - P1,750
Blood Diamond - P299
Happy feet - P299
Rocky Balboa - P199
Punch love Drunk - P299
Not bad for an attractive marketing strategy. ;)

I asked my bestfriend rdyent to get me Mission Impossible 3 2-disc edition at 50% off, to my surprise, when i opened it, no discs inside. Hassle ito, kasi kailangan pang bumalik tomorrow to have it replaced. :'(

I returned my Interview with the Vampire dvd which I bought sometime last year exactly for the same reason. Low quality video. Too grainy and "maulan". I reasoned out with the manager that I already have a VCD of Interview and I wanted an upgrade but didn't get it with this dvd. So single layer din pala ha? Back then, I still didn't know what single and dual meant. Anyway, after a lengthy discussion, the manager gave in to my request and had it replaced with Lethal Weapon dvd.
The better Interview version is the Special Edition ( with some features ) and DTS sound. Picture is much better( so they say ). I am still looking for that version.

You are right ran, hassle talaga, buti na lang my wife and sis-in-law went to Cardinal kanina so i asked them to return the "0-disc edition" sa astro. Initially, ayaw pa nga maniwala na walang laman at may take a while bago mapalitan, so my sis-in-law called me up para ako kumausap.
Buti na lang at tumawag ako sa suki kong manager (Kuya Tony) from SM north last night and he endorsed it already para mareplace agad and saved me from hypertension, hehehe... ;)

Just came from there this evening. Got some good titles Blood Diamond, Departed, Casino Royale and The Perfect Storm. Hope there is nothing wrong with them ::) And yes, tomorrow is the last day!

Blood Diamond, The Good German, etc. were going for Php299. Pretty good deal. Other Warners were down to Php175 including 2-disc titles like Treasure of Sierra Madre SE, Polar Express, and Poseidon.
I went away empty-handed though. I figured that if it's Php299 today, it'll be Php199 at the next sale. And maybe the Php199/Php175 titles will be down to Php125. ;D

got myself around 30 dvd's. will be listing them later. just wanna ask firewired kung me pag-asa pa kaya makakuha ng jollibee GC's. almost P1,000 worth of GC's din yun ah. magko-closing time na kasi nung nakapunta ako but 4pm pa lang daw kanina ubos na yung GC's. sayang naman.

yup... and i was bringing my brother pa naman sana to treat him sa jollibee after. buti na lang di na rin sumama. just in the last 3 weeks, i've bought more than P10k from astro and all i got to show by way of promo is a can of bacchus energy drink. :'(

heads up lang sa mga gusto pang humabol. tip sa akin nung sales personnel, continuous daw yung sale until today. i was in a hurry kasi nga mag-closing na. so sabi nya sa akin come back na lang daw today since sale pa rin nga daw. you can call them to confirm though.
dun sa mga pupunta pa. tip naman kung nagbalik na ulit yung mga GC's. ke-claim ko talaga yung sa akin. >:(

dapat mo lang na ipaglaban sa Astro Vmall yung Jollibee GC's mo! if they couldn't issue Jollibee GC's then Astroplus GC's nalang for future purchases, after all how many customers do they have who would buy as many DVD's as you did? 8)

haay... just had to grin and bear it na lang talaga. i would have gladly bought the same number of titles even without the GC's, but missing P1,000 worth of langhap sarap leaves a bad taste in the mouth (pun intended). :(
i could have gone there last friday, but the not so encouraging early feedback made me postpone my trip there in the hope of added titles later.
anyway, thanks mr. hankey. saved me another trip to that traffic infested section of the metropolis.

i just revisited my receipt for this SALE (kuno). i noticed that the sticker prices doesn't represent the true sale price pa pala kundi net price only. also, the total net price of my item is P4,251.28 while the payable amount reflected is P4,831.00, making the value added tax almost 14%.
this make items, say, for sale @P150 actually be P168... and P199 = P223... and P375 = P420 and on and on. the thing is, i also looked at receipts from other astro branches (and one from SM North too), and the sticker price is what you pay for. these make P199 items supposedly marked down to P175 be almost still the same price as without the sale.
is there anybody here that can corroborate this? i'm just sore that i missed my P1,000 GC and now i'm being charged P580.00 more. >:( can i say..... RIP-OFF, or just an honest mistake???? :-\

what price is indicated in the invoice? did you pay cash or card? in my case, there were no added charges like VAT. 199 is 199, 299 is 299, etc.

does EPS qualify as card? i always thought it's almost good as cash. also, say if there's a card charge, isn't 14% a bit too much?

Yup, same experience as hubes -- the sale prices were inclusive of VAT. Doesn't matter if it's EPS or a credit card. In fact it's illegal to make a distinction and penalize the customer for choosing one payment method over another. Your complaint is valid and I suspect it may be just a glitch in the system. Astro is pretty accommodating when it comes to issues like this so I suggest getting in touch with them soon.

thanks, firewired. for sure i'll gonna get in touch with them. we go to these promotionals to get our savings so every centavo counts. i'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now given that it was almost closing time then so everyone's in a hurry.
