Title: R6 DVD, does anyone have a copy?
Post by: christineG on Nov 21, 2007 at 04:10 PM
Does anyone have an R6 DVD? Would you mind posting some pictures of it?

Am also interested to know how to determine authenticity of an R6 DVD. A colleague of mine told me she has a source of cheap DVDs (sourced from China by some director daw). She was told that it is legit and not bootlegs. However, upon inspection of one title, I knew it was bootleg. (A dead giveaway is that it was classified as R1.)

Recently, she brought in some R6 titles. There is a holographic sticker on the cover and Region 6 is indicated at the back. I highly doubt it's legit, though, as the DVDs did not come in an appropriate packaging, e.g. Amaray case, Digipack, etc. It's just the cover and the disc, just like the dibidi-dibidis.

I'm very concerned about her bringing in these stuff as it would be put in the school library. If these are bootlegs, then it has no place in a school library.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot, boredfilmmaker!

That's the same (or at least it looks like it) holographic sticker I found on the DVDs. But these legit DVDs come in very nice packaging, not just sleeves and covers.  ;) I remember there was a thread here somewhere, discussing a store in China Town that carried legit DVDs of Chinese flicks. Can't find the thread, though. :(  If those were R6, can anyone who brought from that store tell me if these came in cases?

TIA :)
