i think viva has an on going buy 1 take 1 promo on certain DVD's, for astro shang at least. im not sure about other astro branches, havent really checked. but based from what the viva rep told my wife, its going to be until the end of june.
my wife bought POTC 2 dead mans chest and devil wears prada for 350. there were still a lot of titles but i want to check it for myself. ;)
i hope i get my salary this friday.... :P

Magnavision followed suit - I saw an Astro shop placing "Buy One, Take One" stickers on NEARLY ALL Magnavision DVDs, with very few exceptions (American Gangster, Cloverfield).
Happy Viva/Magnavision bargain hunting, people.

Great news, ya I saw that in Shangrila tod in the 5th floor stall ata, but was in a rush.., man I was also in Astro Sta mesa a while ago but my wife was rushing me (2 rushes in a day) ;D.. Will check Podium for more selection

i got POTC 1 and 2 at 350. yung part 3 out of stock :-\ but also included daw sa buy 1 take 1.
old titles na ni mark down na nila before then minark up ulit, then up again, then ginawang every weekend sale (if you guys still remember those) and now buy 1 take 1 na.
also saw "sunshine" wala pa ako nito ;D sayang wala na ako mapiling ka take 1.

I read it again tonight and my impression was if you buy one you can take one of the same or lower price. Just slightly confusing because of the way it's written.

That's basically it. Free DVD if you get another with the same price or higher. You pay for 'the same or higher'...not the Free DVD. It would be illogical otherwise.

yup hitman included. kaso kaunti lang yung titles priced at 550 lions for lambs and POTC 3. buti nalang di ko binili yung hitman and POTC3 when it was first released! bilis kasi mag sale ng DVDs!

i also told the saleslady that their sticker is confusing.
the sticker says: FREE DVD if you buy DVD of the same or higher price. (in bold yung FREE DVD)
feeling ko yung DVD na may sticker na ito comes free - if you buy one of the same or higher price. ganun yung ibig nilang sabihin. nevertheless, to make it simple for them Buy1 Take1 of the same price. kse lugi ka naman kung kukunin mong FREE DVD yung mas lower price di ba.
kaya if you get a P350 priced DVD, make sure to get another one of the same price para hindi ka lugi.
if you buy P550 and a P350 - the dvd with P350 price becomes the free DVD.
pero to make things simpler, they can just put the Buy1 Take1 sticker, understood na ng buyers yun... kesa dun sa FREE DVD sticker nila na confusing yung nakasulat... ??? :D :D :D
anyway, ang importante may sale na naman.... and i think MAGNA will also have an answer to this VIVA sale... kaya... ubusan na naman ng pera ito!

I think the ones with FREE DVD labeled on the cases are the ones included in the sale. You can buy lets say viva's hitman at 550 and one of the 299, you will pay 550 for the two discs. I think thats how it works, you pay whichever is higher. I may be wrong.

yep... one DVD comes free... but you pay for the higher cost. so when you get your free dvd, make sure its of the same cost para hindi lugi. unless otherwise, you really cant find one of your liking.

Usually it's phrased this way: Buy 1, Take 1 of another (DVD) of the same or lower price.
I guess is what's causing the confusion.

at first you would think na you can get a FREE DVD of the same price or of a higher price.
syempre hindi puede yun. logically, you can get something of the same price OR of a lower price.
that means yung DVD na may sticker na ganun - it becomes FREE kung bibili ka ng same price or ng higher price. ganun siguro ang talagang gusto nilang ibig sabihin... which ganun naman ang nagyayari na nga.
okay na yung "Buy1 Take1" sticker na nilalagay nila dati... alam na ng buyers yun na... you can get 1 dvd of the same price (or lower price kung gusto mo).

According to an Astro Galleria saleslady, you cannot mix & match Viva & Magnavision titles. Viva titles have their own buy 1 take 1 promo & Magnavision titles a separate buy 1 take 1 promo.
Got CJ7 & Saawariya from the Magna titles.

Actually, that sort of explains the difference in terminologies (Buy One, Take One vs. Free DVD with Every Purchase of...) that some of you find confusing. Can you imagine a sales rep trying to explain to customers who don't read PinoyDVD the different companies/policies if they all had similar stickers?
"Bakit hindi puwede, pareho naman may 'Buy One, Take One' sticker itong dalawa. Dinadaya niyo kami!" ;D

I agree. Papaano nga naman kung napadaan ka lang at nakita mo yung Buy 1 Take 1 promo nila nung nandun ka na sa counter they would tell that Magna is for Magna and Viva is Viva lang. Eh nakuha mo 1 Magna and 1 Viva. WTF!?! Syempre disappointed ang customer nun. Imbes na bumili baka umalis na lang yun. At least we have the luxury of discussing this matter here which helps us know how their promo goes. Hopefully next time baguhin nila yung mga stickers na nilalagay nila.

for one the sticker on the viva titles are different from the magna titles. two they are on separate shelving. viva grouped into one and magna grouped into another.
"free DVD (pertaining to the DVD where this sticker is on.) if you buy DVD of the same or higher price". i think it is also common sense that they will not give away a free dvd with a higher price point when you buy a lower priced dvd.
just my 2 cents.

Kung nasa loob ng store yung dvd na may sticker it would still be very confusing even though they have separate shelves if you're not really that observant. I agree that is really common sense that you need to pay the higher priced dvd and get the lowered one for free. Lugi naman sila siguro kung kukuha ka ng worth P175 tapos yung free mo worth P500+ or boxset. :D ;D Anyway I'll drop by at SM MOA later to take advantage of this promo and see if it's really that confusing. ;)

Got Lions for Lambs and Daywatcher for P550.00 at SM Davao.. Part ng Viva Sale.. Dito naman DVDs of the same price are taped together and sold as Buy 1 take 1. Unfortunately, konti lang included sa sale. I have to request the saleslady to exchange one DVD from another package for another DVD from another package but with the same price. Hitman unfortunately is not included in the sale. >:( >:( >:(

As stated,I don't find viva's wordings of the sale confusing, but if it did, and a customer asked a customer rep about it, then it would also served it purpose, as it gives the customer rep an opportunity to explain (and push) the sale to the customer.
BTW, Magnavision did repriced up a few of the items (from 299 - usually 199 on sale) to 375. So on those titles, the discount is really minimal.

I got Unbreakable and AVP from the Buy 1 Take 1 promo. I also didn't find Viva's sticker confusing compare with Magna. Masyado kasi mahaba yung sa Magna and you need to analyze first what the message wants to convey. ;D What I really found confusing is the Viva-Viva and Magna-Magna titles lalo na kung hindi ka aware. Magkakamali ka talaga kahit may sticker sya at pagdating mo sa counter you might end up paying for both items since 1 is Viva and 1 is Magna.
Btw there are some good titles not included in the Buy 1 Take 1 promo which is priced P150 - P175. I got Zodiac for only P150. ;D

Viva Video has a sale in Astro Trinoma (not sure about other branches as the cashier I spoke to said that only selected branches had the sale) starting June 12 (Thursday) to June 15 (Sunday).
Prices of dvd's range from P150-P199.
Sample of sale prices are Alvin & the Chipmunks, Rainman and Enchanted were all selling for P199/ea only.

Bought Gone Baby Gone sa SM Makati last last weekend for 199 as well. Excellent Miramax release from Viva as always. ;D

Many Magnavision titles that were originally 299, are repriced to 375 buy one take one daw. But note that these 299 titles goes for 199 duing ordinary weekend or sale dates.
Also while this Buy one Take One Magnavision is a Astro exclusive promo yata. Since most Odyssey don't have it but have the same discs priced at 199 (and 150 during sale). So this scheme (Magnavision's) is not as cheap as it seems.

If you are in the Ortigas area you might want to check out the 9th floor of One San Miguel Avenue Bldg. There's a small Kiosk in the canteen selling Magna and Viva DVDs with the free DVD promo. I was able to get National Treasure 2 (2 disc CE) and Enchanted (w/ slipcase) for only 750. ;D
The saleslady told me they're going to be there until tomorrow.
