It's a spectrometer or colorimeter, used for professional video calibration. That particular one is called a "Hubble." Top of the line. Very accurate and fast. You need to use that device in combination with software in your laptop and screen patterns from a bluray, dvd or directly from a pattern generator.

correct me if i'm wrong, but this is what kong alvin does. professional video and audio calibration.

Not only professional but very passionate with it. He knows what he's doing by heart. Mark of a true hobbyist. Very satisfied with the results colors are more vivid now, skin tones very accurate. Thanks again.

hi sir(s),

couldn't resist asking for help after the inspiring thread. hoping to get some help regarding setting up my home theater. specifically, on acoustic treatment. im on the finishing stages of my new home. i have a dedicated home theater measuring 4x6 meters. i intend to place an optoma hd20 projector and an elite screen (100"). i'll be using my old atlantic tech speakers. thinking of upgrading my yamaha receiver 995. need practical advice also on upgrading the amp. thanks in advance:)
