Ok na yung DTS-HD/MA downmix to DTS sa Xmas 2009 FW.   Ive watched a couple of pure BD rips and MKVs having that HD audio format successfully on the Mede8er.   Dolby TrueHD ang silent movie pa rin sa Mede8er but the Egreat can handle that just fine.

Hehe!  Just upgraded my FW to the latest one but haven't tinkered with DTS-HD yet.  I'll try Michael Buble later.  ;D

I tried Inglorious Basterds from my external HDD connected via USB to my NAS.  There is stuttering.  I'll try to transfer the file to the internal HDD of my NAS and see if I can get some improvements.

baka kayang makalusot this march ang isang NMT.

1) so wala nang stutter ang mede8er using external wd hard drive through USB?
2) meron po bang preview ng vids itong unit like the HDpro?
3) isang model lang ba ang mede8er?

doc nerveblocker,

ano po ang NAS?

maraming salamat po

3) isang model lang ba ang mede8er?

ano po ang NAS?

1.  Wala pa akong na-encounter  na nag-stutter through externally connected hard drive - and the 1080p files in my drives are usually the ones with the highest bitrates (Eurekas, Framestors, Hidts).   Meron bang stutter dati?  When I got my Mede8er from Ehome, I had it updated to Xmas 2009 FW right away.

2.  It's not just a simple preview - It's a windowed playback - tuloy tuloy until you press the play button.

3.  I dont know if there are other models of the Mede8er.

Kaya tahimik etong thread na to, aside from the fact na kokonti kami nila nerveblocker na Mede8er owners  ;D, I think we are the least problematic.   ;)   In fact, Im thinking of selling my Egreat 31B for a (hopefully) reasonable price of 4K para bumili ng isa pang Mede8er sa March from Ehome.  Any takers?

NAS - Network Attached Storage.  It's a storage device na networkable - meaning, ideally all devices (PCs, NMTs) connected to the same network should be able to access the data stored in the same NAS - like a central database.   It SHOULD be connected via LAN because wireless streaming of huge data is still unreliable.  This is practical if you have a few HDDs.  If you have a lot, large capacity (bay number) NAS boxes are very very very very very expensive still.

maraming salamat sir!

about 1) it looked like i was saying the mede8er previously had stutters, i was talking about my egreat 34 having stutters during high action scenes UNLESS using ext2 formatted HD's.

ilan po yung windowed playback?  sa HDPro i think has 4 windows.

thanks again!

actually owner din ako ng mede8er eheheheeh binili ko from ehome from what i see talaga ito ata ang pinaka least problematic na nmt...based sa mga forum kasi nag focus sila sa pinaka core of NMT which is yung mag play talaga ng media...which is yun naman talaga ang pinaka dapat gawin on the first place...and if mapapansin nyo din medyo huli sila sa mga developement since madami naman na realtek na kasabay nito pero yung ibang kasabay nito eh madami na mga features heheehhe...but who we are to complain diba? as long as walang shuttering as long as smooth lahat..DL lang ng DL ng HD's heheheheehe

pahabol... sana ilabas ang ang bagong FW na dapat nilabas ngayon FEB...sa march pa daw kasi lalabas yun eh

Yes, no need to format to EXT2 and install a drive internally with the Mede8er.  I only connect externally via dock (USB and Esata).  Kaya nga stressed out ako sa Egreat 31B kase hindi pa rin perfect ang 1080p playback even with the latest FW.   Dinadasalan ko pang wag mag-stutter everytime I watch a 1080p movie.   ;D  So far yung mga uutal utal sa 31B, smooth na smooth sa Mede8er.

One at a time lang ang windowed playback.  When you highlight a title sa list, a few seconds after that, the windowed playback automatically starts on the right side.  Uuy kaya ng HDPro ang 4 windows - that's nice.  Mabagal man maglabas ng FW update ang Mede8er, matindi naman sila kapag naglabas.  In the first place, they dont need to release endless FW betas na parang trial and error because their latest FW is reasonably matured already.   Kung puro settings at re-settings at settings lang aatupagin mo sa NMT, wala ka nang time manood non.   ;)

I think mas matindi pa rin yung mga mahal na makes like Tvix6500 - pero for 10K and below, the Mede8er is a very solid device.

What are your NMT requirements nga pala?

Can you try wireless 1080p streaming?

1080p wireless streaming is not yet perfected in mede8er but I can stream videos smoothly without hitches with 720p videos. I just dunno if this will be perfected or corrected with a FW update.

secondary:
1) preview of vids (when watching tv series kasi, i keep forgetting which episode i'm on)

Raptor is the Tvix 6500 Jedi. I guess market prices are still between 15K to 20K pesos but Im not sure about availability.  However, the Mede8er loading time may be a lot faster than the Tvix.

Mede8er is so fast that if you connect a lot of HDDs simultaneously, naka-boot na yung system while all hard drives are still initializing.  If too many huge HDDs are connected simultaneously, it cant be helped because all those drives have to be initialized first.  It's so fast that when I scroll up and down through the contents list, there is no time for the preview to get activated.   ;)

Apparently, the Tvix 6500 plays native BD rips like BD players - complete with menus.   The Mede8er plays the BD folder "directly" but you can likewise select the specific M2TS file/stream as how most other players handle pure BD rips. I havent tested a BD ISO on the Mede8er - sa March pa.

Your primary requirements:  No Problem
Your secondary requirement:  No problem

Ako rin I very very seldom stream (via LAN).  I carry the HDD around.  Mas secured and flexible and energy efficient and matipid for so many reasons.   ;D

Newbie question:

What is HD Audio pass-through?  Why is it important to pinoydvd peeps and what does it allow you to do?

I noticed kasi that Mede8er doesn't have this.

Thanks.

If your file (m2ts or MKV) has DTS-HD/MA or Dolby TrueHD audiostream and if your AVR can decode these HD audio variants, then a media player/streamer with HD audio pass-through is desirable.

Tried v1.2.2a and the lastest version 2.0.2, sad to say I still have problems playing HD mp4 files. (just pm me for details, can't discuss that here). The movie just loses sound between the 20 - 30 minute mark. You can test which files have those problems by jumping to let's say the 40th or 50th++ minute, it will simply jump to a random point between the 0 to 30th minute. In short, you can just jump to the minutes of the movie WITH audio. I already tried those files on my desktop and laptop, they all play without any problems. I hope they fix this problem with a new firmware in the near future. But aside from that, very happy with my Mede8er.

MP4 files na R18?   I think even Egreat 31B has problems with those.   ;)  Pero I haven't tried to delve on that too much kase maraming MKV versions.   ;D
