Unofficial HTPC users thread: Tips, Tricks, and everything HTPC
« Reply #60 on: Oct 08, 2008 at 10:48 AM »
am using a 780g chipset connected to a panny 42pv70h..

question ko lang is di nakasagad yung picture when playing movies thru HDMI (half-inch siguro both sides), pero pag TV/Cable, sagad naman..

panu kaya i-adjust to? thru sa ATI control panel ba or sa TV itself..

tnx.

LOL. same dilemna here.  kaya i'm very happy with NMT coz there's no missing portion.   :D

Does your video card allow you to manually set screen resolution to 1024 x 768?

Afaik, thru HDMI you cant.    I think I read somewhere thru VGA, the screen would be filled up....Im just not sure.

Thats why Im thinking of getting a 2nd NMT, but since my PC is just beside our plasma, extended monitor na lang, and meron pa savings.   Tutal, we only watch TV series in our bedroom.  ;)

Kapag bluray disc or dvd disc using power dvd. May black bars din. Wala ng adjustment.
Kapag MKV file using power dvd. Right click then uncheck lang yung aspect ratio.
Sigurado naka fullscreen na ito w/o black bars...

as may experience...

FYI.

I am a PV8 user with an HTPC connected via DVI-HDMI cable. Resolution settings are 1280 x 720 (native resolution of TV). Then on plasma settings, Setup > Picture Overscan > Off. The picture fits perfectly with the screen. If your using Vista, don't forget to set font size DPI to 120 so the text is more readable.

Thanks,
Miki

Anybody know of a codec pack for MKV for Windows Vista Media Center?  Tried K-lite and CCCP codec packs but they don't work in the Media Center.

I'm presently using Zoom Player and I am already happy with it.  I just like the layout of the media center.

try changing the file extension of the file to from .mkv to .avi ..
since media player and the other players can regonize mkv, i believe the issue here is just the file association ..
hope this helps bro  :)
ill try this myself once i get home  ;D

Windows Vista Media Player I think is quite a headache for mkv, but it works quite well even for streaming high def in avi format.

Right now, I rely on MPC exclusively for 1080ps (with FFDshow and AC3Filter) and KMP for 720p and kung kakayanin yung 1080p.

I noticed Media Player 11 has nicer & sharper colors than Media Player Classic. However Media Player 11 can't display some subtitles.

na curios ako sa KMPlayer so i downloaded it.

Using it now to watch yung mga downloaded .avi (non-HD) ng CSI Miami.  When I use VLC, parang napaka bright ng color "green", sa KMPlayer, parang mas natural sya.  Galing.

my officemate suggested this ..
he even burnt me a copy, just to convince me to use it .. its been my primary player, next is the media player classic .. :)

ahh the one with CTRL is for kmplayer users and no need to hold it down when using media player classic ..
thats good news it worked for you bro. .. :)

ninja,
what codec do you use to watch xvids?  Built-in codec ng KMPlayer?  Or ffdshow or divx?

I plan to buy a BD drive but I want to be sure if my HDMI can pass through HD audio to my receiver.  Powerdvd 8.0 Ultra can support HD-audio formats.  Is this enough?

Thanks!  I didn't try anymore the coax and toslink outputs.  I was enjoying watching already with DD/DTS output thru HDMI nalang.  Less hassle pa.  I just wondered why it only worked in Media Player Classic.  I tried using it with Zoom player but there was no audio output.  :-\

Regarding the CDRKing remote mouse.  I don't have any qualms about its speed anymore.  The speed and accuracy of the pointer is easier to manage specially on 1080p in my PJ.  Imagine how small the icons are.
