https://www.amd.com/en/products/apu/7th-gen-a8-9600-apu 3.3k @ pcx
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/A320M-PRO-VH-PLUS/Gallery#lg=1&slide=4 3.6k @ pcx
single 8gb ram 4.1k

That takes you to an up-to-date socket, giving you a wide upgrade path. Actual performance wouldn't be much different from the A8-7600. Expect it to handle most bitrates of H.265 and VP9 upto FHD via software decoding. Common older formats can be handled in hardware.

If you're planning to get a dedicated GPU, might as well wait it out and get it together with a Ryzen 3 1200 or equivalent.

bali master intayin ko bago mag buo?  or ok na yun posted ko sa taas since may R7 yung a8 9600; tapos sabay ko yun GPU and ryzen (incase mag decide to upgrade?) tama ba?

You're not supposed to run Windows 7 on Bristol Ridge. It will work, but Microsoft does not support this configuration. The same is true for Kaby Lake and Coffee Lake.

Off means it's your screen's video processor that does the scaling. Unless the TV has a poor processor (or if you want the GPU to stretch videos to fill the screen), I suggest keeping it off.

It's not utilization, it's security. Microsoft does not patch old operating systems on new machines.

I don't know how well he'd be able to output HDR content, especially 60Hz HDR10 material. I don't think the software decode is fast enough, and he will be limited by HDMI 1.4b.

He's running integrated graphics on a board with HDMI 1.4b. While there are HDMI 1.4b ports that support UHD HDR, those that do normally run at 30p or less (even with chroma subsampling). HDCP 2.2 support would also be lacking (limiting supported materials with the few video players that do support the mode).

Guys, may media player na ba supported ung 4k HDR? Last time I checked, 4k pa lang supported.

Ginagawa ko right now is play the movie directly sa TV via USB. Nadedetect ng TV na HDR sya and auto switch nya picture settings to "HDR brightness". Parang lumalabas I'm better off with the TV as media player mas maganda pa picture quality since displayed ung movie in 4k HDR compared sa PC na 4k SDR lang.. Btw Im using Kodi 17.4 on the PC.

Btw, the movie is encoded in HEVC HDR10

You can set your PC's video renderer (say MadVR) to pass-through HDR information to the display. In most cases this would only work in full screen.

PowerDVD 17 supports HDR when using current generation Intel hardware.  Microsoft Movies & TV is expected to get HDR support soon too.

PowerDVD 17 with Pascal HDR compatibility is currently broken. Video flickering / blacking out can happen depending on the material. Cyberlink officially supports only Intel Kaby Lake graphics for HDR at this point. Nvidia support mentioned that they are working with Cyberlink to possibly support Nvidia GPUs in the future.

Some are reporting that Movies and TV has working HDR support now. This can be an alternative for you.

^movies & tv not supporting HDR on my Windows 10 pro right now. Will try MadVR sa weekend..

Btw, I tried using my Minix U9-H with latest firmware upgrade "FW006", HDR on Kodi 17.4 is supported if Android ung OS.. Ang layo difference ng PQ if compared sa HTPC.. Ito ung rankings in my opinion (given HTPC fanboy ako since 2010)

1. Minix U9 2. LG 4k HDR TV built in player 3. HTPC

I believe Microsoft is fixing Movies & TV HDR functionality with different hardware types. They started by enabling HDR in it for Xbox One S users last year. They sell online content for use with this application, afterall. This fall's Creator's Update is expected to bring in a lot of those fixes.

Aside from Cyberlink, Sony is another provider that only supports Kaby Lake for PC HDR access of UltraViolet media.

That'd depend on:
1. What resolution you're running (if a higher bit depth is possible with HDMI 2.0 at that resolution)
2. If the Nvidia driver gets to read the EDID from the display correctly
3. If the Chroma Compression, Resolution and Bit Depth combination is supported by Nvidia.

TV support has actually worsened over the past year, imo. Nvidia locks out YCbCr422 and 420 on many displays, preventing the use of high bit depths at higher resolutions. It often also skips the 10bpc option, offering only 12bpc and 8bpc instead.

What NVIDIA did is kill the HTPC market. I dont get the logic why NVIDIA GPU is locked at "limited range", 8 bpc, & YCbCr422 or 420. Eh capable naman ung display? ganun cya at 4k and even on 1080p. If Im using the NVIDIA GPU on my BenQ W1070, tatalunin pa ng AMD HD6570 ung NVIDIA GTX1050ti in terms of PQ kasi ung 6570 naka "full range", Full RGB & 10 bpc..

Just watched "Life of Pi" in 4k HDR using Minix U9 on Kodi V17.4, walang sinabi ung HTPC sa PQ. Mahal na nga ung HTPC, limited pa ung capability (sa display settings), wala pang remote... Only advantage nalang ng HTPC is capacity (8HDD's including 1 SSD).

You can try manually editing the EDID information to allow misdetected or disabled display modes. It sometimes works.
