Panny 50X20 or 50C10
« on: Aug 20, 2010 at 02:18 PM »
So......am in the market for a 50 inch Plasma and no need for 1080p. The reflective screen of the 2009 c10 was a factor in me not buying it last year.  The reflective screen in the X10 and  X20 were also issues and held back on any major purchase.  At this point based on the specs there is not much difference between the two or is there?    For me it seems to be pretty much Same meat different gravy  ::)  And.....At this stage its pretty much best price and freebies prevail?

yes...no...maybe so?

The 50X20 is about 70K right?

There is someone in the Marketplace offering his 50G10 (2009 model Neo PDP plasma) for 75K.  That's a good buy if you don't mind pre-owned stuff - and that guy just keeps on upgrading his gears hence I suppose not much use on that TV yet.  ;)   The G10 is not that reflective and definitely way above the C10 and X20 in terms of specs.

http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php/topic,119165.0.html

It's not even 1 year old and warranty is apparently still valid.   This item is worth a closer look I think.

Firstly Thanx for the heads up Clondalkin.

You are 100% correct.  Great gear for a good price. But  I Am really looking for a new unit with that fresh "out of the box" glow ;).

So SPEC wise the C10 and X20 are not miles apart.?

C10 Specs (note only 2 HDMI)

I can not find the X10 on the Panasonic Philippines web site but the X10 has 3 HDMI and more efficient power consumption??

just got myself a 50c10
i dont see the diff with full hd anyway

the biggest diff between c and x is the elec consumption and an added hdmi
and i cud use the extra 10k price diff on other gears

Try to consult with Carlo ang Gaol about the G10.  I think Carlo owns the 42V versions of both the G10 and the C10 (among other HDTVs  ;D) while Im positive Gaol owns the same 50V.

If this particular 50G10 is flawless in and out, SAYANG.  I am very familiar with how beautiful the G10 image quality is kaya when I first saw the offer, I imagined I would have been in such a dilemma to choose between a 42V20 and the 50G10, if I hadnt bought a 42V20 yet.  Granting the V20 IQ is absolutely breathtaking, the 50-inch G10 image is quite eye-candy as well and 1.5x bigger  ;)  It is afterall a Neo-PDP.  The C10, the X10 and even the X20 dont have the level of tech they put inside the G10...and I thought you are so concerned about reflectivity?

I would suggest that you at least try to have an actual viewing of the G10 before you make any decision.

Good luck!

I know the G10 is Great with an incredible picture.  I helped my son buy one, the 42G10 in the states last year and posted about it as well. My son raves about it and tells me it is  awesome.  Unfortunately my budget is tighter than a seals ass in winter.  I just took delivery of a brand new c10 tonight.  Got a good deal and the money saved will be put towards  a new receiver that I most desperately need.  Thanx again.

Yes, I have the 50G10 and I'm very happy with it. Back then (almost a year na pala) I was choosing between the 50G10, 50C10 and the 42G11. Early on, I decided the bigger the better so 42G11 was out. The C10 by itself has actually very good image quality and you won't go wrong with it, but side by side with the G10, I could see that the G10 was clearly better, especially for 50 inches.

I'm tempted myself by the pre-owned 50G10 for sale here but I have to prioritize some other HT stuff for now before getting another TV hehehe ;D

Cheers!

Tested the 50X20 yesterday at S&S. Considering going up in size from my 42LZ80 and 50X20 kinda fits my budget. Brought a laptop hard drive filled with my movies for the test & hooked it up to S&S's Xtreamer. Sad to say the 50X20 won't do for me. Too much reflection & 720p resolution degrades the picture to intolerable level.

Victor gave me a great deal on the 50c10.  Saved a bundle (with freebies)  compared to the X20.  Am happy to say that I do not notice any reflection in my C10. :)

So 7 years on my Panny 50C10 has been near perfect. I still love Plasma. PQ is so natural. Unfortunately woke up today and the power supply light is off.  :'(

What do i do?  Is it advisable to bring it in for assessment and repair?

Do not want to drop big dough on a new one.
