Also, had the chance to listen to his SCS-01 bookshelves in stereo extensively.

I'll try to attempt my own review.
With my reference disc in hand, I got to put the bookshelves to the test.

I requested Mike to turn off the sub so that I can focus on the bookshelves alone.

I first tested the speaker with
Voices.

Alison Krauss "wouldn't have made a difference" from the best audiophile voices album.
Immaculately produced the song sounded great as expected.
Her voice lacked the air that I was looking for(but that's my preference na)

Doris Day "orange colored sky" I personally think she has one of the most challenging voices for speakers because it is quite high and kinda nasal. A lesser speaker would have made her voice painful to the ears.
I was surprised when the SVS speakers reproduced her voice pleasantly.

Nat King Cole's "The Very Thought of You" and George Micheal's "Kissing a Fool.
Their voices were full and warm and a joy to listen to.

Classical music
"Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" and "Dance of the Reed Pipes" sounded good as well but lacked that something extra that elevates classical music to a whole different level.

R&B & Jazz
Craig David's "7 Days" & "rendezvous"
Both songs features acoustic guitars. It sounded crisp and real.

Dance & Pop
Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow"
Here I felt the bass was definitely lacking.  ;D
Even mike felt the same way so we turned the sub on to enjoy the Boom Boom Boom's  :D

Conclusion
Please be informed that I listened to his speakers without my preferred CD player & Amp so take my review with a grain of salt. Also the listening area isn't the most ideal for stereo listening with concrete walls and big windows surrounding the room.

I find these speakers perform best with voices and acoustic music involving guitars & pianos.
If you're the type who loves listening to Hip-Hop and Pop music make sure to purchase one of mike's subs along with the speakers.

Update: I totally forgot to type my review with movies.
After listening to my reference CD. Mike fired up his DTS demo disc.
Boy oh boy!! The bookshelves performed.  The Haunting and Saving Private Ryan sounded crisp and involving despite it being in stereo only.

I remember the sound being just right and well suited for movies.
Not bright and not warm. Very neutral nga. A pleasure for movies.

For it's price the speakers are a very good value.  :)
Suits movies very well.

Mike, I hope to audition your dipole's next time.

updated my review of the bookshelves with movies  :)

If anyone here would be interested in acquiring the SVS SSS-01 Dipole Surround, here's a nice read regarding the different surround modes - monopole, bipole & dipole:

Kahit ata si Mike walang buong svs speaker system na naka kabit. Which is probably why he is selling his Infinity B, para mapalitan na ng svs speakers ;)

Yes, I agree with macdon. Hopefully Martin will be the first member in PDVD (probably in the whole Philippines too) to achieve the highest STATUS i.e. the ULTIMATE COMPLETE SVS speakers (a.k.a. SVS HT). :D

Martin, you're half-way na reaching the Holy Grail.... don't break the chain...be the first known SVS PURIST!  ;)

Folks have been buying complete SVS setups from Mike before - whether they're from pdvd, lurkers or not, only mike can confirm.
The curious thing about it is why these folks buy completed sets - not just by pairs ::)
According to mike, they dont even audition the speakers - they just troop to Graceland to pick up their sets!  :o

It's great to hear that. These folks have complete confidence in SVS, hence testing is no longer necessary. :)

Whoa..sino yan...show your face! Mike, do reveal their identities so we can all troop to their SVS HT & do a live demo EB there in future...  :D

Kagawad, sa presyo na binibigay ni mike - akala mo nga segunda mano eh :D ;D

But I dont like to undervalue SVS products - they really sound more than their worth! ;)
Probably one of the best value for money untapped resource here in pdvd  :)
