Help on how to recover garbled back up discs
« on: Feb 18, 2011 at 11:38 AM »
A friend gave me back up copies of his audiophile cds several years back. These are working well then but now most of them are garbled / noisy / with scratching sound. But the discs are physically mint and without scratches.

Can I still recover the audio files on these CDs? Please help! ::)

Try to rip and burn on a new CD-R.

If the damage is not too severe, ripping is still possible.  Otherwise, the data is too badly corrupted to be ripped.

dBpowerAmp is a good tool. Official site: http://dbpoweramp.com/

The last freeware version is ver. 10.0 (2005): http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page11.html#dBpowerAmp

Choose "Converting to: Wave".
