Vettel has got everything going his way indeed.

Barely a lap or two before Mclaren's predicted "cliff" of Vettel's overused tires, mayhem all over the track causing the safety car to come out, and eventually a safety car restart - that allowed Red Bull to change with fresh tires.   I could almost feel the frustration in Alonso's face.  I felt we were all robbed with what could have been an extremely exciting and hard-fought finish.

But Vettel in a well-tuned Red Bull is looking more and more unbeatable indeed.

bilib ako kay seb... but here in monaco, it was sheer luck that place him in pole, and it was sheer luck that also enabled him to win 1st.

parang written in the stars..

gutsy 1 pit strategy by redbull. kung walang safety car at the end, who knows? would he be able to defend?

i still think when the red flag was waved, they shouldnt be allowed to change tires.  naging iba ang outcome e... sayang... ganda ng final 10 laps e..

oh well.. kitang kita sa face ni alonzo ang frustration.. di man lang maka ngiti... buti pa si button..

... buti pa si button..

And he got to kiss the two hot chicks on the podium with his sweaty (and probably smelly) face.

I was already imagining a scenario similar to Raikkonen' blown-up tire on the very last lap while leading in a fast track in Europe in 2005 that gave Alonso the victory.  Well it probably would not have been that disastrous for Vettel but yeah, who knows what could have happened with Button and Alonso already on their final wait for Vettel's forced slow down on a very tight track.

On a side note, the trio of David Coulthard, Eddie Jordan and that tall young lad are making a great show and analyses in this year's BBC broadcast - before, during and after the race.

It was a pretty exciting race until the red flag

SV has it all really this season so far, not only can he drive super worn tires ( because of a team error on pit stops ) he gets a windfall in a free pit stop during the red flag.

Normally, a red flag doesnt allow any changes (mechanic can not literally touch the car).

Its really weird as the cars arent allowed to be touched from the end of Q3 all the way to the checkered flag on sunday.

But i believe this is going to be one of the most exciting Monaco GP in years, Lewis driving like he owns the track, SV first win, lots of other overtaking attempts.

BBC-one, much more professional than star sports, imo. Also while watching replay, they had  more car radio talk broadcast also

Montreal Qualifying will start in a few minutes...

From yesterday and todays practice top 3 drivers

Practice 1
Rosberg, alonso, schumacher

Practice 2
Alonso, Vettel, Massa

Practice 3
Vettel, alonso, rosberg

Looks like vettel will take pole again and interesting to see who will stack up behind him. I think Mclaren should be pretty strong as they didnt show pace in practice(holding back a bit), although alonso's pace looks good as well

As usual Vettel on pole

Surprisingly Alonso and Massa, 2nd and 3rd.

Mclaren says they have a rain set up... they usually dont talk about their set up...

Hoping the race later is exciting.

Missed this race.

From Formula1.com

Race - Button takes last-gasp win in Canadian epic12 Jun 2011

Jenson Button made sensational amends to McLaren, having inadvertently taken team mate Lewis Hamilton out of a chaotic Canadian Grand Prix on the eighth lap on Sunday, by snatching victory from Sebastian Vettel halfway round the final lap.

The disjointed race began behind the safety car due to heavy rain, started to dry, then got much worse as the rain returned and refused to abate...ยป

Looks like this was a close one.  Mukhang naisahan si Vettel :D

Vettel lost it by himself with 5 corners to go on the last lap

very exciting race! must watch... too many incidents investigated by the stewards.

Yeah, MSC has become my sentimental favorite although I never really liked him during his prime.  Canada was the most exciting and unpredictable race so far this season and it had all the drama I was looking for, especially with Button winning in the final lap despite having to pit 6 times and nearly gettting retired by teammate Hamilton early on in the race. The only thing that didnt happen was MSC getting on the podium with his vastly inferior car - he was absolutely awesome on the tight turns but his machine simply couldn't match up on straight high-speed portions - kung hindi sana tumigil ang ulan until the end, malamang sa kangkungan inabot si Webber with his erratic control..hahaha

On the other hand, the real rain-man Senna managed to win in Monaco under similar very wet conditions while driving a vastly inferior car (compared to the highly advanced-tech Williams car then), and as mentioned in that documentary, that was probably Senna's greatest driving year.

may it rain this weekend (but not to the extent of having the race red flagged)..

there was a clip at the documentary's end (senna) when they showed senna parking his f1 to help a fellow driver.. i honestly didnt like senna before the movie, but the movie slowly changed my perception of him.. what he did (to help the driver) sold me... (altho that was stupid of him and very unsafe to do that)..

doing some googling.. it was 92 belgium during the qualifying when he did that...

here's a video for that incident.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOGiguIUyZ4

senna for me was a bipolar driver.. when he sees a challenge, he races and sacrifices safety of not only him but other drivers, but when he sees a tragedy, his compassion awakens, eating out the devil of competitiveness in him... crazy man behind the wheel.. but he was full of charisma.

msc may be the greatest there is (91 wins!).. but now i believe senna is the gutsiest of them all... (until i watch another docu featuring f1 driver)..

the closest person to senna that i could see right now could be vettel...

In terms of driving, I'd say Hamilton is the closest among the current gen of elite F1 drivers.  Vettel seems too nice and boring so far - and the German National Anthem is tooo long.  hehe

The rivalry between Senna and Prost was a classic and it still amazes me that Senna was as driven by the thought of beating Prost as winning every race - that he missed Prost terribly when he retired and somehow lost motivation.

i stand corrected then..  ;D

nakakainis kasi kay hamilton, puro crash e.. and sometimes parang i feel na he quits.. di tulad ni senna.. laban ng laban..

i cant help feel that senna's calling is to just beat Prost... naging mag kampi sila, pero sige laban parin.. thats why it came to my mind that senna's closest is vettel, following incident between redbull last year at turkey gp. nung side by side sila ni webber at di nagbigayan..

great showing by jensson at the canadian gp. pag basa talaga passive technical drivers rule (except siguro kay schumi)...

why tatang why??

Sebastian Vettel guested in an episode of Top Gear UK (Ep 4 I think) and drove one of those regular small cars (guess where his lap time ended up compared to other F1 drivers who had guested?).

Anyways, based on his interview, this young lad seems Pretty Darn Cool! (compared to the robot-like Michael Schumacher and most of the previous F1 World Champs).  I'm now a fan.

Even when he was still in BMW, you can already see the potential of this kid. He deserves to be the World Champ...or should I say double World Champ.
