The River
« on: May 20, 2011 at 01:48 PM »

Official synopsis:
When wildlife expert and TV personality Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood) mysteriously disappears in the Amazon, his wife Tess (Leslie Hope) and son Lincoln (Joe Anderson) reluctantly head a search and rescue mission together with Emmet's former crew, who film the entire operation documentary-style. What they find will lead them deep into danger and mystery as they explore the uncharted rivers of the Amazon.

Cast also includes Paul Blackthorne, Paulina Gaitan, Eloise Mumford, Shaun Parkes, Thomas Kretschmann, Daniel Zacapa.

The River is an upcoming one hour horror-drama series from ABC, filmed in the "found footage," mockumentary style (think Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, Cloverfield). Produced by Steven Spielberg, Daryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Michael Green, and Oren Peli, who also co-wrote the story.

Saw the first two hours; it was quite good, reminded me of The Blair Witch Project but faster paced and with more cameras having different vantage points.

Not sure how they can sustain the premise without resorting to mystical-happening-of-the-week episodes, but the first season is only 8 episodes long, so I guess they're not going to stretch it out like Lost and opt for faster plot pacing.

The second to the last episode was great; for a moment there I thought the cast had mistakenly wandered onto the set of The Walking Dead.   ;D

Tonight is the season finale--and quite possibly the series finale, if the low ratings are any indication.

this show has all the elements in a horror film/tv show - exorcist, zombies, paranormal activity, supernatural, blairwitch project, magic, voodoo, ano pa ba? lahat meron eh hehe.

sana may season 2. though ok na din kung wala.

That season finale was a huge Last Exorcism-WTF mashup.  Oh, and the Magical Latina suddenly gets English subtitles for this final episode, when we were all wondering what the hell was she talking about for the first 7 episodes  ::)

People are just killed here left and right without anyone batting an eyelash, and the series jumped the shark in episode 7, although the title still fits if this show gets renewed. The main problem I had with this show is that there's no likable character; the Mom is an annoying, cold-hearted bitch, willing to let anyone be killed just so they can move on...maybe she can meet Lori Grimes and compare notes on how to be the Worst Mother Ever. Plus no one seems to have any sense of humor whatsover, I realize they're all trapped in the Amazon and can die anytime, but still...

+1

I just finished watching the 1st season. may potential sana ang storya, but very predictable ang mga scenes typical ng mga ghosts flicks. i also found 1 episode na my lapse when the real camera crew got caught sa reflection ng mirror. i thought si AJ pero yung totoong production crew pala. wahaha. episode 7 yta.
