hans, i was there a couple of weeks ago looking for an integrated amp. i listed a couple of them (models/prices) at wiredstate. with regards to cd players, there are tons of them out there. i saw were denons, onkyos, a lot of sonys, and a whole lot more (japanese market -only victors, mitsubishis). i was eyeing a marantz.

i suggest you bring a pen and paper to list down all the models you like and look them up on the net (unless of course you intend to buy right there and then). problem i encountered when i was looking for an integrated, when i searched the item on the internet, almost all (if not all) of the results returned were either european or japanese sites as these products were intended for that region only.

anyways, i was able to get a harman kardon integrated (not at the pier) through the ads so i had to abort the pier purchase. good luck!

@hans - someone in this forum suggested that as much as possible (or if budget permits), your source component should be brand new; or if previously-owned stuff, at least procured from someone reliable. or better yet, bring along someone knowledgeable enough and ask the seller if you can open the cd player and take a peek (to check for replaced parts?).

@mdsaint3 - prices range from 1500 to 3000 (3000 being the denons).

good luck...

There are second hand CD players at the Assorted Buy and Sell. You can send a PM to Hyperaudio if he has 2nd hand CD players.

Try HMR in Pasig.  They have single and 5 disc carousel CD players there.  I bought a 6 disc Toshiba carousel for my audio set up.  It is HDCD compatible too.  Matches well with my Marantz digital stereo amplifier.  ;D

Got mine for P4900---it is a 6 disc Toshiba DVD changer with a DD decoder and remote.  It reads DVDs, VCDs, CDs, CD-Rs even pirated discs.  But it is locked at Region 1 for DVDs.  But then I have my own SAST and Pioneer Multiregion DVD players to play other region discs so no problemo.  I just use the Tosh for audio CDs.

There are others there like a TEAC 5 disc CD changer which i saw for P2500.

I was contemplating on buying either a carousel dedicated CD player or a DVD player.  I got the latter coz you can listen to concert DVDs in stereo mode even without the video by just turning off your TV.  So parang nakikinig ka na rin ng audio CD.  Rather than buying a separate audio CD of the same artist to play in your dedicated CD player.  So it would come out more expensive...imagine having a DVD already and buying an audio CD for it to play in your CD player.

I really wanted a carousel so you can program your selections from 6 different audio discs.

That's just me though :-\

johndoe - i'll assume you know where quiapo is so i'll make that as your starting point specifically the area right in front of the quiapo church. take a jeep with the quiapo/pier sign board. it's about a 10 minute ride from the church; and you'll pass the manila city hall, the old congress building, old senate bulding, intramuros, until you reach this big rotunda where the route ends.

there you'll see this big gate and an arch. jsut walk straight and you'll see the stalls selling mostly tvs, sewing machines, aircons, etc. up ahead on the left side of an intersection, is a bpi branch. make that as your starting point and work your way backwards (direction of the main gate). have fun!

good luck.

Toshiba SD-4109X  6-disc carousel DVD player.

Went to HMR this week and the prices are back to their original ones.  I saw this player selling for P8500 now. :-\

try looking at multi-brand remotes at various audio-video shops and appliance stores. lots of brands available--sony, rca, etc. just check the compatibility of your player on the chart written on the remote's manual.

I have a kenwood AVR with a kenwood universal remote but this won't work on my Kenwood DVF-R9030 DVD player. Tried also other universal remote but still no luck.
