pardon my ignorance, was there ever a time a player out of high school was allowed to play or drafted in the PBA?

IF true, malaking koga-guhan ito, byers http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/10/28/13/cagers-stint-outside-tourney-may-dq-san-beda

Hmm, this is interesting ...... supposed infraction came out, just as the playoffs are about to start.

Sad to say, but a few NCAA players, from the recent past, were known to have played in larong labas ...... all do it for the quick cash that local politicos and businessmen payout on these local leagues.

Let's just hope that any investigation is done fast and fair.

They have more teams hence more games. NCAA has 10 teams so a total of 18 games per team in the elims. UAAP only has 14 total elim games per team. Aside from the hiatus nung FIBA-Asia, may mga games din na na-cancel dahil sa sama ng panahon.

Surprisingly, Alaska, a known DLSU bailiwick, chose Blue Eagle Ryan Buenafe.

Surprisingly, Alaska, a known DLSU bailiwick, chose Blue Eagle Ryan Buenafe.

ALASKA is more known as a Filam bailiwick ..... aside from Don Allado & Mike Cortez (who was a consensus top pick), cant recall to much notable DLSU draftees for this team.

ALASKA even had the chance and slot to draft Renren Ritualo, but instead chose an unheralded Filam Migs Noble ..... Noble turned out to be a major bust though.

Longtime manager (newly retired) Joaqui Trillo and Bachmann are alumni, but are known to draft high reward-type of players (Thoss, Abueva, etc) regardless of affiliation.

Letran is through to the Finals. They won 85-58 vs San Sebastian. Almazan had 19 pts, 22 rebs and 9 blocks. Ang laki ng improvement ng batang 'to. Palaki lang sya ng katawan and he'll make an impact in the PBA, especially on defense.

That is why i prefer Almazan over Sangalang even over the softy Slaughter who with his height, i dont think he can dominate in the PBA unless he eventually can take those very rough physical contacts.
I still recall Fajardo in his debut cut his chin/lips goin up against Belga.

Sangalang is still better than Almazan. He's shorter but he's still a pretty good rebounder. Di rin naman siya takot makipagbanggaan. His defense is also decent. He may not be blocking shots as much as Almazan does but he can hold his own. Yung lamang talaga ni Sangalang is that he has a post game. Matalino maglaro, very adaptable at maganda ang foot work. If he bulks up, he has the potential of becoming a Sonny Thoss type of player.

I think it is only available in the school who won. DLSU may have one.

I have in my collection a very nice DVD with slipcase pa and transparent plastic inside casing of the FEU DLSU Finals (Arwind Santos time) which I got from FEU c/o of my mom who used to be univ dean then.  Yes, FEU won.

Watched the game live.  Great game by Mark Cruz of Letran.  What an awesome player despite his size.  San Beda had some bad executions in the end game.

Yup.  Game 3 on Saturday :D  Just like last year eh?

Will SBC retain the crown? Or will we have a new Champs this year?

Exciting ;D

Congratz to San Beda for winning the NCAA Championship.
Their import really spelled the difference during the end game with his defense.
Art De la Cruz very deserving to be named MVP of the finals.
He was a huge loss to Ateneo but a tremendous gain for the Lions.

Yes. Tough victory for the Lions.  Go San Beda Fight!!  I am a Red Lion but I have to give credit to the Letran Knights for their never say die attitude.  Clearly, they had the leaner bench. But they ALMOST beat us.  Credit to a great coach in Caloy Garcia and my main man Mark Cruz, who at 5'6", stood most tall among them.  Buo ang loob at hayup sa diskarte itong batang ito.  Walang takot to attack the basket and create plays when the Knights need it most.  Baser Amer played well but I noticed he was tentative in crucial moments, unlike Mark Cruz who challenged everybody including Ola.  At one play, he missed the shot but got the offensive rebound and the basket -- VERSUS OLA!!  Had Letran won, Mark Cruz would have been the Finals MVP hands down.

But, in the end, San Beda was the better team.  Congrats to my Red Lions!!

Defensive stops by OLA and clutch baskets by De la Cruz gave the Lions the 4peat.
After watching the 1st half of the game, i really thought Letran would win it all and i never thought it would be De la Cruz bailing the Lions out.
