Okay, to settle all your ? regarding Konzert AV500 here is my little review:

Bought at Raon last Feb 2004, for P4,500

Specs:
100wrms x 2 front (F)
050wrms x 1 center (C)
050wrms x2 rear (R)
basic DSP features: Hall, Room, Concert, etc.
NO BUILT-IN DECODER! NO COAX/OPTICAL IN/OUT!
with inputs for F, C and R from any DVD player's built-in decoder output
20 preset fm stations
digital INDIVIDUAL volume controls for F, C and R
digital bass/trebel tone controls for front only
digital balance l/r control
analog mic vol/tone/echo control
mic input x 2
full-function remote control

SET-UP AND PERFORMANCE:
I used assembled front speakers with 12" Crown woofer, 5.5 Konzert mid and metal dome Konzert tweeter.  No crossover, I just used capacitors for mid and tweeter.  Previously I tried using a passive crossover but poor sound, capacitors are better!  For the center and rear, I used non-branded "Jordan" speaker set, with 80watts and 89db sensitvity ratings.  I dont have subwoofer.  My DVD is Xtreme player, the "pioneer-look-a-like" model.  My TV is a surplus 32-inch Sony wide screen with double tuner.  So how does it sounds?  GOOD to a little bit of very good for movies.  FAIR to good for music.  Overall, the sound is smooth.

COMMENTS:
1.  The main volume WILL NOT CONTROL the C and R channels!  So everytime you adjust the overall volume, you have to adjust each channel INDIVIDUALLY.  This is very annoying.  Another thing, since the volume and tone controls are digital, the settings will return to default everytime you turn off and on the unit.  Very inconvenient because you have to set-up everything again everytime you turn-on the receiver.
2.  The FM section is not good, poor reception and noisy.
3.  The Built-in cooling fan of the receiver is quite noisy, it is audible in my listening position during night time use.
4.  Very loud "thud" sound when you turn-off the receiver.

MY VERDICT:
I sold it to my cousin last week for P2,000.

MY PRESENT SET-UP:
I just bought a Yamaha RXV-550, its an awesome 6.1 receiver at 90wrms into 8ohms x 6!  Got it from Ambassador-Greenhills at P19,800.  I still use the same speaker set-up above.  My next project: Soundquest active subwoofer, 150wrms at P8,000 pesos hopefully I can buy before xmas.

nakabili na kasi ako ng Av500-R. tama ka nga, but temporary lang naman tong konzert ko, maybe christmas i can buy a yamaha amp na. tom pa ko bibili ng Wharf WH2 for the center and rear so i cant tell pa regarding the 5.1 quality, but tinesting to dun sa pinagbilhan ko and it sounded great! konzert lang ang gamit nilang speakers nun. what more kung wharfedale pa. i think i can live with the reset thing coz mga thrice a week lang naman ako nanonood ng movies.

Nagka-lesson ako sa pagbili ko nung Konzert AV500.. kasi nun nag-trust lang ako sa salesman, di ko sya ti-nest masyado 1st time kasi ako mag HT kaya excited.  Yun pa mali ko, ni hindi ko sinilip yung iba like Sakura, basta kasi sabi ko sa salesman "bigay mo sakin yung pinakamaganda" 'yun tuloy nabiktima ako.  For you before buying i-test mo na lang muna, kalikutin mo mga settings tapos off-on, bunutin mo power para matest kung retain yung mga settings.  If you have the chance i-audition mo.

Inde rin, naiiwan lang yung subwoofer!  So, tatayo ka, lapit sa likod ng S to adjust volume.  My solution nuon: sa DVD player volume na lang ako nag aadjust para lahat 5.1 channels saba-sabay maadjust ang vol.

The flaws that

actually kaya i choose konzert over sakura  387/377 because of the following reasons:

1. the power rating of sakura 387 is 250w or 400w i think on the front channels, and its too high for my speakers to handle it, kung floorstanders kaya pa siguro but nandun pa din yung pagiingat sa volume settings dahil baka masunog, but since i don't have enough space to accomodate a floorstander, i can only get a bookshelf, we all know that most bookshelfs only has a max power of 100watts and AV500R's front channel is rated at 100w so saktong sakto sa bookshelfs. although the rear and center's rating is the same with the sakura 387 which is 50w.

2. The AV500R has a dolby prologic function on which the latest sakura lacks.

3. The physical look of the AV500R for me is much more elegant. silver kasi yung player ko(philips 642k) and it goes with it.

meron sa raon pre ang huling tingin ko don 4.7k tapos nakita sa parksquare 6.5k siyempre depende sa puwesto yan..Yup! silver siya..sabi nga ni positive - noise hawig siya sa marantz.
pero kung ako sa iyo i-audition mo muna yung konzert at sakura then from there tsaka ka mag decide..sabi nga di ba "Trust your ear"..good luck on your AVR hunt...

Before i bought my Sakura AV-377, i compared it first with two other AVRs, the konzert 500 and a plardin. Yung plardin ay amplifier lang at di tunay na five channel ampli so immediately i discarded it. Natira na lang ay sakura at konzert since halos pareho ang features ng dalawa.

Pareho silang may separate control sa lahat ng channel kaya lang yung sakura sumusunod yung center at surround channel with the main volume control except yung subwoofer. We tested both AVRs using the konzert 5.1 speakers set. Yung konzert hirap na hirap syang bayohin yung fronts while dun sa sakura, hirap din pero a lot better than the konzert. Sinubukan namin na i-hook yung DTX slim tower to both AVRs and sakura handily defeats konzert. To make the story short, Sakura AV-377 ang binili ko and ejoyed it a lot as my bedroom HT set up, until i went pure audio sa sala using an onkyo surplus amp at inakyat ko na sa bedroom yung aking HT set up na nasa sala.

Actually, ok naman sya for beginners who wants to experience HT first hand.  Nung time na ginamit ko sya, na-meet naman nya expectations ko for a decent HT, pero syempre sa kalaunan na-out grow ko na rin sya kasi kahit papano naman e natuto na ako kung anu talaga yung "serious HT".  Yes, Konzert do deliver decent performance which is good enough for starters in HT.  I recommend this Konzert sa mga gusto mag-start at mag-aral ng HT, very minimal kasi ang investment.  Pero if you are really serious in buiding your HT and you have the budget, wag na ito bilhin mo, dumiretso ka na sa branded na receiver.

Sa mga china/local amps and receivers I only respect Konzert.  Actually dalawa ang Konzert units ko, yung 502 stereo amp at 500 receiver.  Yung 500 receiver dinispose ko na last week and I replaced it with Yamaha RXV-550.  Pero yung 502 stereo amp hindi ko ididispose, sya kasi gamit kong "pangharabas" at pangkaraoke sa inuman, matindi yun kahit subuan ko ng de-kinseng pang-mobile na speakers lumalaban talaga!  Nasubukan ko yun nung last newyear, inilatag ko sa kalsada sa labas ng bahay namin, grabe napasayaw ko buong barangay!  'Yun nga lang, hataw din sa init yung amp, pwede ka na nga magprito ng itlog sa ibabaw eh, hehehe!

502 lang yung sa akin, hindi "502A".  Actually pareho lang sila ng mukha at specs, unang lumabas yung 502 tapos after a year lumabas na yang 502A.  Ang difference ng 502A sa 502 ay new lay-out ng connectors sa likod at addition of cooling fan.  Walang cooling fan yung 502 ko kaya grabe mag-init, pero ok lang sa kanya di naman nag su-shutdown; parang makinang diesel, habang umiinit lalo gumaganda ang takbo!

Wohooo!!!!! just bought the WH2 set kanina, i have a Konzert AV 500R and yakang yaka niya yung WH2! astig! jvc mini compo lang yung fronts ko but grabe. match na match sila, what more pa kaya kung wharf 8.1 ang fronts ko(yun ang plano ko pag may extra money na). played music and turned on the prologic mode and ayun! hataw sa clarity! tried jazz, r & B, pati yung best of enya. haha. pati sa HT ang lufet! grabe. ive tried the superbit edition of matrix reloaded and parang nasa loob ako nung scene tska yung ballistic. ummm... DTS? haha. kayang kaya. mas malupit pala DTS, mas separate ang sound. but konti lang DTS dvd's ko dito eh so ngayon alam ko na kung bakit halos lahat ng audiophiles hinahanap lagi yung may DTS. tska ive upgraded my sub cable to a rg6 cable(rca wire lang dati eh) and all i can say is....  sa music mas tight na yung bass tska mas rsponsive na, sa movies naman i can feel the bass na tska parang hindi ko na alam kung saan nanggaling yung bass. my sub nga pala is a US Audio 512 MK2.


isa lang ang problem ko.... walang main speaker out yung player ko(philips 642k), 5.1 outs lang so everytime na i switch to prologic, i'll put the fronts cable to the amp's aux or cd inputs. i'll just buy a decent cd player na lang...


ano nga pala ang affordable na good sounding na cd player ma hindi namimili. kahit 2nd hand ok lang basta in top running condition physically and internally.

May ng PM sa akin from one of the forum members here, tinanong nya kung paano raw maaalis yung  "thump" sound pag ino-off yung Konzert receiver".  I will make public yung sagot ko sa PM nya para naman makinabang din yung ibang Konzert receiver users here:

"Bago mo i-off yung Konzert receiver, hinaan mo muna ng todo yung volume (to -64).  Pag may "thump" pa rin, try mo maglagay ng capacitor; 'yung ceramic, flat capacitor = 0.10uf 400v ang rating.  Solder it across the power button termials, mavo-void na yung warranty mo kasi bubukasn mo na yung takip ng receiver e.  Be warned, hindi ko actual na nasubukan ito, nakuha ko lang ang idea sa nakita kong capacitor na nakakabit sa ibang amp na ang rating ay 70 watts per channel.  Hindi rin ako sure kung 100% effective para sa Konzert yung capacitor, depende rin kasi sa rating at klase nung capacitor e, maaring mabawasan lang yung lakas ng thump.  Good luck!"
