42UT30 maximum consumption is 280 watts (the maximum is based on no picture presentation but of full white brightness).

On the average 42UT30 is 175 watts, which is about 10% higher than LCD power consumption.  :D

oh i see. . so yung  wattage na naka lagay sa likod ng plasma TV, isnt really its average usage? So the 280 watts is when the TV is displaying on full white and

175 watts average is close to panasonics lcd TVs wattage which is around 180, so its not a big differene.

 :o

Bought the 42" at Listen Up Glorietta for 36k. Delivery on thursday.
So I tested it out over the weekend and to my untrained eyes all my videos look better compared to my LCD panasonic 32lx80. I blurted out Oh my God when I played a video because the picture looked so good. But I must say that the video from my external hard disk looks better when viewed using my samsung bluray player than just connected straight to the tv's usb slot.
It can play mp4, mkv, avi files but some lost their audio.
The panel is very glossy/reflective so you really need curtains.
I downloaded some free movie trailers and videos and 3D was just amazing, especially the sample video from Imax's under the sea.

medyo masakti din sa ulo ang 3d after a while. tried 2d-3d conversion of videos. ok naman. magaan ang glasses pero tama yung ibang members natin. 3d is not something you want to use all of the time.

Sabi sa manual wag daw ibabad sa isang channel ang tv to prevent image retention. I am also playing videos on zoom and on cinema mode, no subtitles. Kailangan kaya talaga 100 hours? Any other tips?

Hi sir, may ilang members nagre-request sana daw makadala kayo ng ut50 at st50 and vt50 models.

Ako oks na sa 42 ut30 ko. Pero since hindi siya neo pdp, pag total darkness scene, may light pa rin galing sa tv pag nakapatay lahat ng ilaw.

well ya, its a full 1080p TV, which is big plus.
The few things going for the 43d490 is it can read more formats from its usb and its just 1 inch bigger but you'll hardly notice the difference.

Yup, yun ang gusto ko dito, full hd.  Bonus lang ang 3d. I already have a popcorn hour so media formats is not a problem. Neo pdp ba ang samsung?

Panasonic P42UT30S 42" 1080 3D =36k

noticeable pa ba ang 1080p/720p difference nila @ 42-43"

The 3D rendering of Panasonic is much superior than the Samsung. You will notice that there are more depth in the 3D image on Panasonic than on Samsung.   :D

^ yes, i can confirm that 3d is amazing on the panny. yung short clip ng imax under the sea parang lumalabas na yung eel sa screen!  is it because full hd yung panasonic or is it because of some other technology?

P500 lang naman yung siningil sa akin. mas panatag pa loob lo kasi yung seller ang sasagot kung sakaling masira en route to you. ang palpak lang e nakalimutan nnung taga-Listen Up yung 3d glasses. so kinuha ko pa sa store kinabukasan

We have to admit, it IS pretty hard to find other establishments that offer points number 2 and 3 above.

Not to mention that prices are almost always a bargain over at S&S!  8)

Bought a Panasonic TH-42UT30M from Sights and Sounds yesterday. I choose this over the Sony 42EX410 LED. So far my family and i are enjoying this unit. Just one question, how do i properly "break in" this plasma tv? Ive researched a bit and found that i should set contrast and brightness below 50%, refrain from watching content with "black bars" and static images and avoid playing video games. I'd like to get expert advice for this particular unit though. So comments and suggestions from more seasoned pinoydvd members are well appreciated

The new UT and ST series do not require break-in, since they are now not susceptible to burn-in. Even the image retention is not that of an issue. Just set your TV according to your personal preference, without having to worry that it might be damaged by over brightness.

BTW, thanks for the purchase. Happy viewing!  :D

Really? Thanks for that piece of information. I just really wanted to be careful with my plasma because it's my first time using said technology. My family and I are very happy with the purchase so far, especially when playing the Under the Sea demo. Oh my COD!
