Rockbox versus Original Apple Firmware
« on: Mar 29, 2012 at 12:56 PM »
I thought about using Rockbox last night because I've been using the original firmware for the longest time. So I loaded the latest version 3.10 on one of my Ipods. I've never used EQ in the original Apple FW (feeling audiofool) so naturally i switched off the EQ in the Rockbox'd as well. Did an AB test of the same song on both RB'D and AOS ipods and felt there was something lacking in the sound of the RB'd. The original firmware had more vibrancy, air and depth. Weird cuz i kept reading people swearing by the RB sound quality as having more detail and separation. To me it didn't sound bad, it's just that the original FW has more life (for lack of a better term). Long story short, am now reverting back to the old apple firmware.

So just thought I'd ask which firmware build you prefer listening to?
