Well, based on my software (bassbox pro)and on my first assumption, standard yung box dimensions niya for a 15" subwoofer driver. Maganda yung graph yung lumabas flat yung response niya pero cguro kung sa actual may kaunting  descripancy because of inherent room modes pero over all ok. Existing box itself was tuned @ 28 Hz.. not bad.. ;) ;) basta 4 ohms (series connection ng voice coils ng driver ha... ;D ;D). Good luck.....

thanks you very very much sir your a really big help. ill go for the project "JBL" na... Salamat po ulit!

nasa 5k lang sir, yung size 15" mukhang sakto naman yung mounting screws at frame. just dont know kung mag fufunction siya ng maganda using the existing box and sub amp plate ng DTX...

may point si Toqero, and I also agree. hindi ko pala pwede saluhin kasi 15", puro 12" ang meron ako box dito.  ;D

go go go yan JBL project, please give us updates.

actually ang habol ko lang talga, kaya ako mag papalit ng JBL subwoofer driver, is to produce a lower freq yung tipong lower than 40Hz and improved power handling. yung DTX driver kasi malakas naman siya, yung punch pag may explosion okey naman. kaya lang hindi siya ganun lower lalo na when I watched the movie "U571" ganda nung explosion pero parang hindi ganun ka bilog yung tunog parang malakas lang siya, kaya iba talga yung mga branded ones, anyways since hanggang pang upgrade lang ng driver ang kaya ko besides maganda din naman ang asthetics nung JBL GTO hehehe!

so matigas siya tumunog? if you lower the cut-off freq baka mag bottom out na?

like Toquero, I was once obsessed with subs. But back then it was old school computation for the box then I build the most powerful amp I can and an active lpf and slap it on the box.  ;D My experiments then showed that lower powered amps tend to clip more often during peaks and can fool us into hearing that the driver is bottoming out and is the one at fault when in fact the amp is.  ;D

last time I auditioned a same 15" sub sa AVID (Def tech PF15TL) ang ganda ng lower freq niya. that time the featured program was "master and commander" galing nung explosion ng cannons. im just wondering kahit 1/4 lang nung ganun performance ma achive nung JBL sub na ipapalit ko, sana nga.....  :)

palagay ko gaganda nga yan, from Dai-Ichi to JBL switch mo. Baka mas ok yun driver na JBL and it's electrical properties.  ;)

thanks sir jojo,..

sana nga sir im crossing my fingers already hehehe!

(btw, medyo OT. ang ganda pala nung T-amp nung minatch ko sa sony na old school spekers ko na nasa 91db yung sensitivity. hanef! sa clarity, it is presently installed sa closed and airconditioned bed room hehehe!)

Got my DTX 4.12 yesterday at megamall... Out of stock na daw kasi yung DTX 4.15 nila kaya ito nalang kinuha ko, so far so good naman sya... ano ba magandang subwoofer cable para dito?
Paano ko set up yung crossover frequency, volume level and phase nya?

Thanks sir hattori_hanzo for your help...

oks ;)....

my cable was custom made by soundimesion in makati. it cost me 800, 5meters...

about dun naman sa set-up ng DTX sub-amp. depende sa fronts mo kung hanggang saan yung lowest freq niya pero kung naka bookshelfs ka, automatic dapat naka small ang setting ng AVR fronts mo. so low freq below 90Hz will be assigned or re-directed sa sub. since yung set up ko naka towers kasi ako na euros 8, so ang ginawa ko para hindi siya ma overpower ng DTX subwoofer. I set my cross over freq to 50Hz coz my towers can go as low as 50Hz. so yung ang meeting point niya. so ang assignment is 50hz below sa sub and 50Hz above sa towers. I set my AVR fronts to large but my center & surrounds to small. them my sub's volume is set to 1/8 kasi meron volume set up yung Yamaha AVR ko. so then I can custom trim the loudness of the sub.    ;)

sir toquero, finally found a JBL GTO kaya lang model 1502 diba 4ohms yun (series connected) i was looking for the 1504 model kaso wala daw available nun locally. the cost of the 1502 is 4,3k mall price kasi...

cabinet: Medium density fiber board contruction (MDF)
enclosure type: front firing vented box
finish: woodgrain vinyl
driver component: 15"
impedance: 4-8 ohms
power handling: 300 watts
freq range: 40hz - 220hz
variable cut-off freq. control: 50hz - 180hz
input sensitivity (low input): 100mV rms max.
speaker level input: 2.5v rms max.
power source: 220 vac

thanks!

hans,

take it easy at first while you keep on observing your dtx amp. is the original DTX driver 8 ohms? if not then there shouldn't be that much to worry about.

besides, the DTX is a ported design so driver power requirements can be kept low.

ill try to post some picture soon...

Bro, I think it's 4 ohms imprdance yan. If u have a multimeter masusukat mo yung free air  impedance niya . Kasi kung 6 or 8 ohms iyan, and for a commercial sub at that price range , di niya mapapatunog ng malakas iyan. The manufacturer would require him to invest more on power amp which is costly sa over all project. And to think of it kung ang solution pala ay gumamit ng mas mataas na sensitivity drivers like jbl and the like eh di sna ginawa nang ibang subwoofer manufacturer iyan. Pero kasi may patent issue kasi iyang mga branded subwoofers kung gamitin mo siya as raw material for commercial sub resulting to a much higher market cost. ;)

I maybe wrong but just my 2 cents. ;)

thanks sir toquero,

thank you very much for your really good help!!! sir jojoD and sir toquero...

hans,

are you saying that the JBL has dual voice coils? sabi mo kasi pag naka series 4 ohms. pag naka parallel yan eh di 1 ohm na lang? oks yan dun sa 1KW mosfet amp ko dati, stable at 1 ohm!  :o

if that is really a JBL by JBL, I think it wouldn't be that hard to drive so your amp would be safe. But just the same, if I were in your position, I will observe by touching (from time to time) the heatsink or the plate of your DTX sub. try it, hindi naman basta-basta masisira yun plateamp mo dyan bro.

Ikaw Toquero, have you tried one?

thanks sir jo,

yup sir dual voice coil siya 2 ohms / pole. JBL GTO yung model niya 1502 pang auto, color orange yung box. nakakatakot kasi baka masayang yung amp plate pagnasira eh mahal pa naman ang amp plate sayo, kaya sinusure ko muna hehehe!...

right now when im using the sub with existing DTX subdriver average lang naman yung init niya. sana kung palitan ko na ng JBL, okey pa rin saka sana gumanda pa yung performance...

sir ive seen the phaser and auditioned it yung 15", kaya lang parang hindi ganun ka ganda yung performance parang typical na woofer lang ang tunog. parang sagana lang sa laki yung magnet saka porma eh...

Hahaha! Tama ka, i-series mo nga yun dalawang voice coil then testing time na.  ;)

palagay ko mas gaganda pa yan using the JBL.
