I was wondering why Dai-ichi discontinued some of their good products like one of their downfiring subs with the remote control (model # ASW10HE7).  It is a good buy.  Owned one of these before... great bass for HT!

Although the wharfs are rated 6 ohms their website says that it is compatible to 8 ohm receivers

I saw a 5.1 speaker set from Dai-Ichi. It cost 12T and the styling is like the leisure monitor of B&W or the NXT of Mission.

I was not able to audition it.

I heard the pregnant series of dai-ichi (http://www.daiichi.ph/HOMETHEATER1.htm) efd series.  I was actually impressed by the sound, not too shabby for locally made speakers and they don't look half as bad either.

Got to listen to it in their listening room (the one for home theater, in megamall).  I just wonder how its going to fair in real environments (i.e. house, non-square rooms, small receivers, etc).

I'll try to get a pair of the bookshelf models. Let you folks know how it turns out.  :D

After reading the posts in the US Audio Thread, I'm starting to wonder if I should get the Slim Series, or the EFD Series.  After all, tweaking lang ang katapat nito.  Been pondering on getting wharfedales too.

Hmmm... so many to choose from.... ???

How much is the difference in price between the wharfs and the others?

Wharf Diamonds  can also improve with tweaking.  I think the crossovers can be improved in most entry-level branded speakers.

Now if you like brand recognition a Wharf name may be more impressive to the neighbors  than a Dai-ichi.

av_phile,
thanks for the comment at the other thread, my question is can the wharf 8.1 be tweaked too and should it be tweaked na, because at present they kinda sound awesome enough for me already.

If they sound ok to you na, I suggest patapusin mo na muna yung warranty before you tweak.  Then ask Nirvblkr for a better crossover network or better tweeters.  Sometimes the tweaking can be psychological.  Knowing you are using the best parts have a calming/reassuring mind effect.

your right, most entry level speakers can be tweaked for better sound.  :) Actually, what might be more impressive is to hear a dai-ichi sounding better than the branded ones, all else being equal. 8)

As for the price, a few hundred pesos lang ang difference (dai-ichi EFS bookshelf 5,6++; wharfedale 8.2 5,3++).

i guess i'll see nalang whatever comes... :D

also, thanks for the suggestions regarding the dvds to play and the connector, which i got from truevalue rockwell.

Hi pare,

Eto na lang ang sasabihin ko, try visiting Dai-1chi showrooms in both Raon Mall(2nd  flr.), and Megamall.
I'm not sayin they're the best, but you're forgetting the price factor, not everybody can afford imported speakers. Sa presyo,  they would exceed expectations. And did I mention Dai-1chi has used different names for their speakers because they  export  them. US Audio, Audiofile, DTX. They're  all manufactured by Dai-1chi. You be the judge,  pare. Oh, and Dai-1chi happens to be the  leader in speaker manufacturing in the Philippines, they're multi-awarded, internationally-assisted, and internationally-affiliated. I may not be an expert, but what's the use of an expert's advice if your  own setup doesn't sound good to your own ears? Kaya nga sa 'yo yan e.

My  Home Theater setup:
Yamaha DSP-AX430
A China-made DVD player(Fully Loaded for below 4000m, and wala pa syang sira for over a year na.)
US Audio 10cc center speaker
Dai-1chi CT-503 main
3 pairs of Audiofile 3" Cubes for surround
a home made subwoofer
(I plan to change my mains into a pair of DTX 9.5 Towers, and purchase a Dai-1chi 10DR Sub)

Pasensya na, mahirap lng kasi ako, e.

according to their website, here are some of their customers:
"By such approach in doing business, the company from its very conception in 1969, have been characterized by continued high growth, profitability and stability, as evidenced by its dominance of the Phils. market, supplying to almost all the OEM market, and majority of the branded market. To name a few : Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, LG, Samsung, Fujitsu Ten, Toyota, Mistubishi, Nissan, Honda, Isuzu Ford. Export OEM and ODM supplier to more than hundreds of satisfied customers of major brands, and to more than 46 countries world wide such as KEF, Celestion, Macrom, Phoenix Gold, Radio Shack, Kenwood, TDJ, Coustic, MTX, Macrom, Cerwin Vega, Magnadyne, Mito, Peavey, Monster Cable, and automotive speaker custom built for Freightliner, Peterbilt, and major R/V in the US. Replacement OEM after market speaker for Chrysler, Daimler, Volkswagen Volvo. Had been supplier also to JVC, Polk Audio, Jensen etc."

Nung bata pa ako, I think I saw its manufacturing facilities in Las Pinas, and laging may strike, hence nag-shutdown siguro yung company.

try to get the US Audio 508 or 512. ok na sub yun. comparable with the Dynaquest and Glanz Klar, imo.

as for the cost of our set ups, frankly i don't care whether members in this forum have HTIBs, or have home-made, locally-made HT systems , or maybe even obscenely priced set-ups. what matters to me is that we are all equal in this forum because we all appreciate good sound and video. you should not apologize for your set up. in fact it's great that you are in to this hobby and i am sure that you can count on a lot of members in this forum to support you in anyway they can. my 1 centavo worth.

Magaling ang Daichi! My first subwoofer was their ASW10DR, a push-pull driver configuration. Dalawa kaming mahilig sa HT bumily nyan sabay!. Me and my friend Melvin took sometime to find a worthy upgrade over it as many P15K-20K subs that time (1996-98) were not enough to topple the Daichi ASW10DR easily (puro brand new price kasi bilihan nun, madalang ang used units!). Proof to that, only a P38K Velodyne VA1012XIIE gave me the urge to upgrade, otherwise I would have sticked with the Daichi. Melvin on the other hand later upgraded to an M&K MX-105 (P38K, although P60K now).

I just noticed though that the recent Daichi subs were no longer as musically satisfying as the original ASW10DR. Their current subs seems to primarily intended for HT.
