I just acquired this preamp, every-time I power-up the unit the small tubes momentarily glows bright. Is it normal or is it a defect?

That is normal sir and not a defect.

fyi, the national brand 12ax7 from deeco is like that...
hehehe, typical newbie concern...
meron pa ngang ayaw maniwala na sinabi kong normal lang yan,
nag-post pa sa youtube ng video at sa diyaudio....
lahat naman ng sumagot nagsabing okey lang....
pero hindi pa rin, pinilit akong palitan nang ibang tube,
kahit used na basta hindi ganoon...

Help, my SL2000 suddenly made a constant hum and the remote is no longer working. Yesterday was fine, then tonight two issues occurred. :-(

Sir Tony I bought it from you! (Joke only :-) ). Kidding aside, dinala ko sya kay sir Rene and all is working except the remote. No more humming. 1st diagnosis was my interconnects, so I replaced it, but last night the humming was still there. I moved the laptop and power supply further away and the humming was gone. Well that's how we learn, getting help from our experience members and by our own errors.

TBH, i really don't know, tube manufacturers buy tubes from each other,
depending on the supply and demand rules....i.e. RCA asks GE to make a tube run
and then put the RCA markings and boxes, even in Europe this was practiced...
