Nope. Dito ko sa Pinas.
My Unit was sent to me by a relative from the states.
VR - 6070 comes in black and the remote has an RF Function. You can control the unit even if you're inside another room without directly pointing the remote to the unit.

Since Kenwood Receivers can be bought from 5th Avenue Branches and any Appliance Centers like Abensons and Ansons, malamang doon ka din makakabili nyan kung sakaling dumating man dito yan sa Pinas.

Based on my comparison between 9060D and 9070D, they're almost the same. Except that 9060D has 100W x 6 into 8 ohms and 9070D has 100W x 6 into 6 ohms. In short, ung 9060D hirap mag-handle ng 6 ohms while ung NEW 9070D no problem anymore.

2 Surround Back Connections:
9060D (VR - 6070) Actually has 1 Amplifier for a single surround back. Others do it this way (based sa reading sa net): they connect 2 surround back speakers in series each having 4 ohms (Total nga naman 8 ohms). But the best way is to use the 2 Surround Back Pre-outs of the Receiver and connect to an Stereo Amp before connecting to speakers. If you stereo amp has a Sub Pre-out, you can conect a sub. Imagine BASS Imaging from front to back.

See the link below and look at the bottom page. Meron doon nakabili na ng VR - 7070. Contact him for comments. Click on his name to send him e-mail.

Which means u should use 16 ohms speakers para maging 8 or 12 ohms para maging 6 and 8 ohms para maging 4...

BENJI,

For Stereo Amps, there are some from:

Pioneer:
A 405 - Around 11k
A -307R - mas mura - mga 9k siguro
A - 209 and A - 109 - Lalong mas-mura

These models have 2 connections for 2 pairs of speaker system.

Meron din from HK, NAD, ROTEL.
Consider your budget and your purpose.

I am thinking of this way:

I will get an Stereo Amp na may Speaker A or B Switching. So that if I am going to use it as Surround Back Amplifier, I will switch to A Connection. And If I am going to use it as Stereo Amplifier (of course dpat may naka-connect na Front Speakers for Connection B), I will switch to B kung ayaw ko gamitin ung receiver for Stereo Music.

Got it?

Temporarily, pag nakabili na ko ng Surround Backs, I will use one of our mini components to power them.

COURAGE.

Total Resistance will depend sa connection.

Let's put some basic electronics here.

Series Connection: Total Resistance = R1 + R2 + R3 + Rn...

Parallel Connection: Total Resistance = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 + 1/Rn...

Got it...

Remember, Speakers don't have Resistance rating, they have Impedance Rating.

Resistance - pag sinabing 8 ohms, 8 ohms talaga.

Impedance - pag sinabing 8 ohms, nominal yon. Puwedeng bumaba hanggang 4ohms to 2ohms or umakyat hanggang 16ohms depende sa frequency ng signal na naka-feed.

I just bought a Kenwood 6060D and the sound quality is pretty much the same with an Onkyo and a Denon.  We have tested the same set of speakers side by side with an Onkyo TXSR600 and a Denon 1803.  Maybe because baka isa lang ang pinanggalingan.  Hehe!

We are still figuring out the perfect match of speakers.

Although Kenwood receivers from the States really sound better than locally released Kenwoods.  My previous Kenwood VR505 (US) sound very much better, fuller sound with much power and is easier to pair with any brand of speaker.

Hey Nirv,

Now my turn to ask.

Wer did you get ur VR - 6060? It's a US Version also.
At my equivalent model yan sa asia. KRF - X ???? D.
Di ko lang alam. But mas-mababa siya ng konti sa
VR-6070. I think nagkaiba lang sila sa THX Certification. 6070 Meron, 6060 Wala (Correct me if I'm Wrong)

Seems like fan ka din ng kenwood just like me.

Kenwood: Receiver (No Speakers yet), Mini Component, Subwoofer
Sony: Micro-Component, Karaoke System.

Regarding what you said that Kenwood in the US is better than KENWOOD here.
I'm just wondering cause pareho naman sila Malaysian made. US as against for ASIA.

ung kENWOOD mini component ko I bought in Japan back in '99. But it is made in China. Same sound quality naman ng dinemo ko ung nasa 5th Avenue dati na same model. Pero matibay siya. Sobra. Ung pirated binabasa lahat. Until now, wala pa naman troubles. Because sometimes I connect the Mini Component's Speakers to the Receiver para madinig ko naman.

Mas-full tumunog ung Mini-Component kaysa sa Receiver. Mas-cleaner ung Receiver.

nels-The model I have is the Kenwood KRF-V6060D.  Sorry about that.  Hehe!  I just bought it at SM appliance center and it has great features!  Speaker A and B, pre outs, 100w x 5 but can be upgradable to  6.1 and 7.1 channels as long as you provide your own stereo amp to drive the 2 back surround speakers.  It has Circle surround 2 which I think Kenwood's version of DTS Neo 6 in other receivers where you can have multi channel sound from stereo sources such as audio cds and vcds.

My only gripe about this receiver is that it doesn't have the low frequency cut off  for the sub as compared to my Denon receiver having 120 Hz, 100 Hz and 80 Hz cutoffs.  But then its sub out  has a clean bass output and I am satisfied with it.

We have already custom made speakers to match the Kenwood and it really gives good quality sound with the right match!  As I have concluded that speakers that match well with Denon and Onkyos would match well with this Kenwood.  Sound quality difference is not discernable among these 3 receivers matched with the same speakers. ;)

I first auditioned this at 5th avenue megamall but the guy there wasn't at all interested in doing a demo of their kenwoods.  I was just irritated coz I bought a pair of wireless headphones from them before and I got this treatment now.  When I went to SM Appliance center, the Kenwood guy was very helpful and knowlegeable with the products he was selling.  I asked him if he was employed by SM but he said he is a representative of kenwood and they are already putting some of their trained people in various appliance centers so as to answer customers questions intelligently unlike those generic SM salesmen.

With this customer service, I guess it just pushed me to buy my Kenwood there.  ;D

sir Nirv,

Just wondering if the Mordaunt-Shorts speakers are compatible with the Kenwood AVR 9070? Kasi sa SM Megamall e may package sila worth 39,000 I think.

Thanks.

FYI, 5th AVE is a sister company of Super Manufacturing Corp, the only distributor of Kenwood in the philippines. Same ang may ari nito. Kaya mas maganda kung sa 5th AVE na kayo bumili ng kenwood products kasi para derecho na in case magkaproblem yung system or kung hihingi kayo ng discount or kung gusto nyo ng fresh from the box system.
Pwede rin sa Avesco (sister company din). :)

That's right.
5th Ave. Elecronics is a Sister Company ng Super Manufacturing. Electronics.

Ang Service Center ay sa Rosevelt Avenue. Mabilis sila gumawa. Iyong Component and sub na dinala don for some minor repairs within 2 weeks lang gawa na. Medyo mabagal sila sa receiving and releasing products for repair. Aabutin ka ng 2 to 3 hours. I experienced this in 2000 and 2002. Ewan ko lang ngayon.

Regarding MS and KENWOOD Compatibility. I think they are. But of course, mas-maganda mag-audition pa ng ibang brand ng speakers para ma-test talaga kung alin ang highly compatible.

I noticed though that 5th Ave Electronics are matching MS speakers to some of the KENWOOD Receivers without taking note of the Impedance Rating Required by the Receivers. KRF-X 9060 D is being matched sa HECO Speakers na 6ohms Impedance but the receiver itself says 8 to 16ohms lang. Sometimes ok.

Please take note of the Impedance Rating required by the receiver to ensure that Receiver will not shut off at high volume.

This is where HCC of HK shines bright. Kahit kabitan mo ng 4ohms, no surrender. But mind you, at this situation, HK is eating so much power. You would notice that HK has higher Power Consumption rate than other Receiver.

BTW, the sales person there told me that they will soon move to Shangri-La, Mandaluyong.

Been to BOSE also kasi may nag pa audition din, oks na oks yung Lifestyle Model ba yun. Okey sya talaga. di pa nila ginamit yung surrounds, just the front and sub.

Dvdadik,

First of all mas-mahal ang 9060D sa Denon 1803.
I cannot give a comment on Denon 1803's Performance since I haven't heard its sound.

Edge ng 9060D sa 1803
- THX Select Certified
- Circle Surround II
Para sa akin this sounds better than DTS NEO and PL2.
- May 7.1 Pre-out. Di ko alam 1803 kung meron.

Try to find sa NET specs ng 1803 and 9060D to see the difference.

The best: I-audition mo. I don't have 9060D. I have VR-6070 (US Version ng 9060D). The US Version has RF Remote. (Radio Frequency). You can control the Receiver and other appliances kahit na nasa ibang room ka. Kahit na may obstacle. 9060D IR lang ang remote.

I highly recommend this one.

My advice though. When you audiiton this unit, take note that 5th Avenue is using regular wires and cables.

Currently, I have a 4.1 Setup.
Front Speakers ko are the Speakers from one of our Mini Components.
Specially pag tumutunog ung Surround. you would think na totoo.

I have auditioned mine side by side with an HK 2550. Mas-cleaner tumunog. That was my observation. Although 2550 is a lower model than this. Unfair to say that.

Try auditioning for yourself. Take note of the BASS REPRODUCTION.

By the way, S&V Measures the power output of this receiver at 92W RMS ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN.
Declared SPECS is 100W x 6.

Dvdadik,

I agree that the 9060D is affordable with its features against its counterparts. Mura talaga sya compared sa mga 6.1 receivers na katapat nya and take note THX select na yan.

Comparison:
Onkyo SR600
Denon 1803
Marantz SR5300
Yamaha RXV530
HK 3550 (5.1 receiver)
Pioneer 811 ata???

Ayos naman tunog nya at di ka magsisisi dyan if you decide to choose this.

But I have to disagree with nels76 na mas cleaner sya tumunog kesa sa 2550. If all the settings are flat and given the same conditons (room acoustics, speakers and speaker wires, dvd player and dvds) Did you really experience that the 9060d sounds cleaner than 2550, is that for movies or audio?

I suggest that you try those units (hk3550 and denon 1803) sa architectural audio. They are the most accomodating guys. Also they wouldn't mind if you audition those units over there.

Trust me your trip will be worth it...

Just let us know what unit you have decided and give us your review then.

Trust your ears (music both audio and video), consider your room acoustics and after sales service.... definitely budget and features...

fyi, I own a hk3550 and I'm really satisfied with it after considering those factors above....

Happy AVR hunting Man!!!

I don't want to start a debate here.
As what I've posted, 9060D sounds cleaner than 2550. That was my observation. But matching the 9060D to 2550 is not fair because the former is a higher model compared to the latter.

I have really heard it myself. 9060D side by side with a 2550. Same Source, Wires, Cables, Speakers, Room. Even same Demo Music and Movie. I have observed that 9060D was reproducing a cleaner sound.

Don't quote me on this.
Try it yourself.

BTW, 9060D and DENON 1803 are using the same Processor - 32-bit Melody Processor from Analog Devices. Higher bit rate compared to other Receivers. At par with Yamaha proprietory Processor.

Pahabol...
9060D has a BASS PEAK MANAGEMENT.
This is very useful for me.
My Sub is not producing a distorted sound even at MAX VOLUME. My Sub Volume us at 12 O'clock. Speaker Settings are at 5dB - Satellite and Sub.

My advice...
Try auditioning other receivers and check distortion at MAX VOLUME. Not only on the satellites. But also on the Sub.

What I observed with the 9060D is that it has receiver bleeding.... though you can only hear it at maximum volume level....

pero thx certified naman yan.

Hi Dvdadik,

If your going to try the denon 1803 and hk3550, I highly recommend that you try it out at Architectural Audio  ;D, located inside New World Hotel in Makati beside Greenbelt 3, contact Nico or Epoy. Very Accomodating Guys!!!!!!

Here is their contact no. 811-6715

One of the things that set them apart from other dealers is that they would immediately ask you what is your room environment. Also highly noted that they will never put pressure the customers (di ka mahihiya magtanong).

You will not hear any harsh comments on other brands from them.... They will just give you thier humble opinion on certain brands.

They will gladly demo those units..... And they have best customer service.....

Also very important to consider : after sales and service....

And definitely it is worth the trip if you drop by to them.

flyboy, here is the bad news.....
 :-[
this same item is being sold in 6thave.com for $219. you could get the htb 505 at $229. this comes with bookshelf speakers. check out the site to learn more. i was seriously considering to have this item bought there but after my kuya bought this, it would take two balikbayan boxes. good thing that the speaker package is available here.
======================================

Hi,

Just bought my 1st HTB 2 weeks ago in the US. Got it for only $312(P16850) including 4.5% tax at Best Buy. For a small room that i have, im happy with this baby! ;D

KENWOOD HTB-205 DTS/DPLII
[/b]

theman,

Kenwood receivers, especially KRF-9060D is quite good at movies but moderate at music, and it needs speakers that are 8-16 ohms. They are selling this at most of the SM appliance centers and at 5th ave  makati or megamall.

It is one of the cheapest THX select receiver around.
