Amazing Race 21
« on: Sep 18, 2012 at 08:18 PM »

"The Amazing Race 21" on CBS is an adventure reality series that has won the Emmy award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program eight times in the past nine years. Emmy Award nominee Phil Keoghan is the host. This season, which marks the 21st race around the world for the series, will introduce a new twist to the game that will raise the stakes for the entire season. If the Team that wins the first leg of the season can outrace the other 10 Teams and win the final leg of the Race, they will double their money and win a $2 million grand prize instead of $1 million

Teams will travel through three continents, nine countries and cover more than 25,000 miles, where they'll be faced with a 10-story rappel in Los Angeles, frying an egg on their heads in Indonesia, working as "rat collectors" in Bangladesh and revisiting one of the Race's most infamous Roadblocks in the Netherlands in this season's "Switchback."

So in the last 20 races, has anybody ever won both the first and last leg? No one comes to mind. Mr. Hankey? :)

Without Googling: I'm pretty sure it happened in the very first season - Rob and Brennan won the first leg using a Fast Forward, then won the race in the end.

Not sure about other times.

Season 20's winners, the married couple, army wife Rachel and combat pilot Dave, won the first leg and set the record for winning the most number of legs with eight.

Anyone have any idea why they've taken out the "eat, sleep and mingle" part of the race?

I'm guessing to prevent easy alliances. It's harder to form friendships just based on tasks without the relaxation component, right?

If "TWINNYYYYYY!!!" wins, they should retitle this show The Annoying Race.

I don't think they really deserve to win. The Texas team or the Chippendales should have won. The goat farmers were just lucky. Texas and the the Chippendales did every roadblock, detour and everything else better and faster than the goat farmers, except for the very last one. And without the built-in equalizer of departure times at the start of each leg and air travel availability erasing the big lead of the front-runners from the last placers, the goat farmers never would have had the opportunity to sneak past the Texas team and the Chippendales.

i think they deserved to win ... the flight delays, etc. are all part of the game since season 1 ... in the end, it was a test of wits rather than brawn ... as Josh mentioned, his strategy was to solve the problem mathematically when it came to the words that he no longer knows, and this gave him the advantage to finish ahead

the Chippendales although likable personalities, have always been weak when it comes to intelligent challenges and directions, and have almost gotten eliminated in the first few legs ... i don't like the Texas team because of their participation in stealing the money of the rockers, and similar to Chippendales, they're weak when it comes to wits

and luck is also part of the game ... the strongest team can get easily eliminated with a dumb cab driver

congrats to the Beekman boys or gays if that's their preference  :)

They deserve to win on the basis of perseverance. They had already accepted that they were the weakest team legs before and the least they could do was continue on and not quit. They got a boost from the help and moral encouragement they received from Abby and Ryan and obviously benefited from the connivance of the twins, Texas and the Chippendales to oust Abby and Ryan. Their perseverance paid off.

Texas team are from a small town and got easily manipulated by the twins. Lexi wanted to return the money but the twins cut her off. The Chippendales know they aren't the brightest of people but still they found ways to do the tasks fast. They may have come in near the bottom during the first few legs but once they got their bearing they steadily went up to the top.

I was rooting for the rockers to win. It was unfortunate how they got eliminated.

I didn't want the twins to win. It was annoying how they accused everyone of something when they themselves are the ones guilty. And they continuously used words like stupid, idiot, etc. They were the least likable team this season. They accused Abby and Ryan of being the least likable but Abby and Ryan's only fault was being intense and too competitive.

there were annoying teams before - annoying to other competitors, but these twins are also annoying to the viewers ... besides stealing money from the rockers, they have very foul mouths - there's almost no sentence coming from them that does not start or end with stupid or idiot ... they should have been disqualified when they stole from the rockers
