separates cost as much as a small car!
Saw the marantz AV7701 at the audio show. Cost around 79k which is probably the cheapest 7.1 processor for now.

edit i forgot the cheapest was the AV7005, i wonder why this unit isn't sold here. :'(

Hi,

Thinking of upgrading my old Onkyo 575 model.

What do you suggest for it to match my old school 5.1 speakers? (It's B&W 302 series fronts and surround, B&W CM3, and Ditton Subwoofer)

I'm thinking of the Onkyo 515 or 616 model.  Although having second thoughts given the issues/negative feedback from other forums.

B&W DM305 / B&W DM302 / B&W CC3
Ditton CS100

P 30k at max, looking of course as an upgrade to current amp. happy with it having really warm tones.

With that budget I would get the the denon 2313, selling for 31k or the pioneer lx 53 35k. I would go for the denon just for the audessey XT, i have the pioneer which uses mcacc, which is not too bad either. both  have local warranty  in the  marketplace.

Thanks for the Denon model recommendation. will check it out too :-)

Just want to match though with B&W and looking for warmness in sound/tone.  I'm not an expert but I only tried before Yamaha and it was too bright/in your face for me.

Go for Denon. Pioneer + Polk Audio tends to be bright sounding.

OT lng sir.

Pls bare w/ my ignorance. When you say bright, it means more on treble yun angat? ( treble = on tweeter?)
If yes, why not adjust the equalizer para ma tame un pagka bright. Or mali akO? :( .

Pwede rin adjust sir if you really prefer that option. But when you encounter an overly bright sounding soundtrack or song, then you will have less or no more room for adjustment since you have adjusted the treble to low already in the beginning. Hope that helps.  ^-^

Salamat.

I'm confused now. Should I get a brand new Yamaha 665 at 23,5k or pre-owned 2yrs used at 15k?

How about a brand new Yamaha 573 at 18k?

Finally, a denon which is on sale right.now at listening in style from 29k to 14,9k but only 5.1?

Confusing.....

If you need pre-out and 7.2, then yamaha 665.

That Denon is a networked AV receiver, so if you are after network features, then get the Denon (5.1) or the Yamaha 573 (7.1)

Iba pa rin ang bnew, may warranty

There is also the brand new 575 at 25,5k. I think this model is the newer one but the older 656 is more powerful.

Add the 575 to the mix, and I'm more confused.

I upgraded from a Yamaha RXV-673 to a Denon AVR-X4000. The difference is night and day.

Thanks Philander.

Marantz is always known for musical quality receiver, while Onkyo is a performer in movies (of course when paired with a matching speaker).

If you are after musical quality then get the Marants; musical quality of Marantz compared to Onkyo is way way better; in movies Onkyo shall win by very very slim margin.

Thanks for the info sir. I'm more inclined to musical quality without sacrificing too much on movie performance. My existing speakers are Wharfedales Diamonds 8 series (Front & Center), would these speakers match with Marantz receivers?

Rotel RA-10 v Marantz PM-6005 v Rega Brio R?

Now which to get?

Paired with (RP6+Exact)+Mission MX-3

I listen to a wide range of music..

Top 3 genres would be:

1. 90's grunge and alternative music
2. oldies in the form of Ray Charles, Neil Sedaka and Frank Sinatra
3. 80's popular music

Any thoughts?
