Few members have this model na. Is it a worthy buy? Does the 4k upscaling bring out a marked improvement in the picture quality?

AFAIK you need a 4K HDTV or PJ for the 4K video output.

I'm intrigued by the Oppo. Reviews are spectacular. Current owners please comment on its viability as a media player for mkv files in an external hard disk. I currently have an Xtreamer pro and I'm thinking of selling it to buy the Oppo 103 since I also have no blu-ray player yet. Does Oppo have a local dealer? US msrp is $500. How much kaya dito? I hope somebody replies.

Sad to say there's no local dealer nor distro...
Got mine through Amazon...

PQ is very good compared with my PS3, about 40% improvement ;)

As a media player... Go get one! >:D

Thank you sir Louie for replying. I also saw your thread re the Oppo 93 vs 103.  Mkv files from my Xtreamer Pro are good enough for me, even at just 720p but I will be downloading all 1080p from now on. I don't think I will invest anymore in buying blu-ray discs so I will forego the Oppo. I was a dvd collector before I regretted spending so much for the originals when the pirated discs became prevalent. You have a very very nice setup btw and it's a different situation for you. You really need the best source to fully enjoy you gear. Sent you PM on some other topic.
