Thanks for the post! I will merge all former and subsequent discussions on The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray releases on this single thread, for clarity of discussions. This can also help us see if The Dark Knight Rises will be sold in the Philippines at a reasonable price, to help us decide if we should buy the Blu-ray disc, and from where.

So, the Combo Pack (Blu-Ray, DVD, UV Copy) of The Dark Knight Rises will be sold...

1. In Hong Kong (from HMV) for PHP 1808 (HKD 340) [Blu-ray ONLY version at PHP 1537 (HKD 289)];

2. In Singapore (from HMV) for PHP 1508.94 (SGD 44.90) [With FREE comic book, poster, and calendar];

3. In the United States (from Amazon) for PHP 1028.60 (USD 24.96);

4. In the UK (From Amazon-UK, Region-Free) for PHP 841.66 (GBP 12.75).

Please note that if you choose to buy it from Amazon-UK and have it shipped to the Philippines, they remove the VAT, and the title will go down to PHP 701.77 (GBP 10.63), and INCLUDING shipping (GBP 3.58), you'll end up paying only PHP 938.11 (GBP 14.21). Which is why as long as a Blu-ray disc I want is Region-Free, I always buy it at Amazon UK.

Let's see how prices by Magnavision will compare. So far all we know is that it comes with a free tumbler.

Sir when you use amazon uk, do you have it shipped directly to your philippine address or do you use a courier?

Thanks a lot, Mr. Hankey, for the summary above. Very helpful. After the ridiculous pricing for local BD releases of this year's BO hits like the Avengers and the Amazing Spider-man, it'll be interesting to see what the pricing will be for TDKR.
We deserve better.

Directly to my address. I keep my orders cheap, though, to avoid having to pay customs duties. They still follow the "no tax on items under $50" at our local post office. It takes a while these days, though. It used to take about 10 days, but now it's usually 4-5 weeks. I'm in no rush to see the movie again, anyway.

Pick-up na lang sa post-office. If it's QCPO, almost sure you'll just pay the 35 peso storage fee if you keep it under that price. Can't speak for other post offices... baka masisi mo pa ako kung biglang may customs duties.  ;D

If the cost of the BD with the hat is true (P1,850), then yes, it is ridiculous.

pero if for instance you order from amazon at the current $25 preorder price tapos you decide to have JAC ship it here, around Php1,800 din aabutin. $25+816pesos.

I guess "for now" pwede pala yung deal nila. at least may free hat ka pa.haha

pero yung trilogy, taga talaga. $40 lang yung list price tapos almost Php4,000 dito. sheesh. highway robbery!

What's the story on the image quality of the BD release?  Ive watched the BD version and first thing I noticed is that the image does not look as strikingly clear and sharp and gorgeous as that of the The Dark Knight.  Colors are comparatively subdued as well and most blacks are matte/flat as opposed to The Dark Knight which was rather shiny.  Nolan's artistic interpretation perhaps - or something related to the general theme of the movie?

Nonetheless, it's definitely worth buying the Bluray version of this. Awesome movie.

Noticed this during the movie's theatrical run as well. The colors are almost desaturated (subdued) and very... cold. It was only in the night scenes where contrast was strong and some color would pop but overall, not a very colorful film.
