Meron na ako Marantz stereo receiver and cdp. Probably  because the BS was designed as surround for a quadrosonic set-up for the Akai before.
try mo b&w 685
bagay ung 685 sa rotel and marantz PM amp

Share ko lang based from the receivers and speakers I have used.
*Based din sa aking noob na pandinig...

-Onkyo 508 + Polk Tsi = Bright/forward, good for HT
-Onkyo 805 + Polk Rti = Slight bright/forward, very good for HT / good for music and concerts
-Yamaha RX-3900 + Polk Rti = Bright/forward, very good for HT / quite tiring for music/concerts
-Onkyo 805 + Paradigm Studio = Neutral to bright, very good details for HT
-Denon 4311 + JBL LS series = Neutral and quite trebly, very good for HT and music/concerts
-Denon 4311 + Rti = Neutral to bright, very good for HT / very good for music/concerts but somewhat lacking in highs
-Denon 4311 + Goldenear = Balanced and smooth... Very good for HT and music. Passable 2-channel audio performance
-Onkyo 5009 + Goldenear = For me this is the best combination I had for HT. Details are top notch, vocals/dialogs are superb. Concerts blurays are also very very good. Onkyo brought out the best in Goldenear's ribbon tweeters.

Mamaya try ko magdagdag for audio only set up.

heard mezzo laid back and tunog...

was that don master louie's setup? mukhang malaki ang influence ng amp on how the imaging/soundstage of the speaker would be. ang impression ko naman on a mezzo + cambridge setup was it was very forward. parang nasa harap ng mukha mo yung singer. and it was the opposite of laidback because it has really good dynamics and punch.

Bro gerard mukhang ganon na nga ata nangyari, i heard it paired with duetto's and it was a neutral sound imho. It wasn't as laid back when compared to a wharf pero generally speaking it was a lot tamer than usual.

anyway on speaker-amp matching, i like nad + psb and nad + paradigm. I'm using a ca 550a + paradigm monitor 7 and it's very bright but I intentionally did that to offset the sound I'm familiar with on a nad+psb setup.

My Pio520 & 521 did'nt made my Wharfs 9.4 sing well  :(

Siguro nga kulang sa power yung AVR ko, kaya I ended up selling my 9.4's.

Yung gamit ko speaker ngayon (@98db sensitivity) although not build for HT, but very good in audio & concerts, very happy na ako.  ;D

havent heard it right now with amx
nung sinalang namin ni louie un - laidback(doesn't mean bad) paired with sansui
it was detailed - warm to warm
medyo manipis lang during that time..break in period

kung bright espekers mo you need the ff
-warm amp
-copper speaker cable
- warm sounding cdp
the other way around kung warm speaker

good sounding audio system does not need to be so expensive...
you just need to match everything haha...sorry napunta sa awdyo

sa ht madale lang hehe..

Agree ako totally sis, nung narinig ko sa spectra yung mezzo 2 paired with yamaha parang rti yung dating.  Detailed and aggressive ang highs. I think generally ganon ata effect ng tubes kasi yung klipsch ko din lumambing with the minima.

and subjective sa gusto talaga ang speaker system pwedeng magaspang saken sa iba ok...or thr other way around

looking for a speaker and a matching amp with FM, 2.1 set-up with a budget of P 40K - P 50K.

i already have a sub. use is 80% music and 20% movies. likes warm and round sound.

this might be my next project if i can dispose current set-up.

the more reco the better for us.  TIA!   O0

The 685's do not lose its warm-neutral sound with a pioneer in my opinion.

how about the yamaha 373 on the wharfe diamond 10 series? i read/heard na ok daw ang yamaha-wharfe combi pero considering na the 373 is an entry level avr, can the it drive the wharfes easily? (will be using in a small room prolly 9x14 ft)

yamaha and wharf go well together, as for your concern about driving it properly, wharf's are not the most efficient speakers.  tutunog naman po sya and maganda parin tunog, the concern though is when the movie or music suddenly peaks and asks for more power, as explained by JojoD in the wharf thread, lean power will cause the lows to be lacking, making the speaker bright.  And if your volume is not properly managed, you amp might end up clipping.  have you tried checking the specs of both items?

i haven't really checked on the specs yet..i was asking kasi medjo ok ang pricing (bnew) nung items. and since am still a noob on this stuff ano ba ang kelangan ko tingnan specs wise? kulang pa rin kasi talaga knowledge ko on the technicalities eh. HTIB lang kasi nasubukan ko pa which is more of a "plug n play" type.

check the speaker sensitivity/impedence/power(RMS)
then match it with the amp(watts/ch @ 2 ch driven)
