Hi All,

I'm in the market for a budget PJ. I was looking at the Acer 5360 which is about 39k locally. And I was just knew that a friend of mine from the US will be coming home by the end of March. So I'm thinking of sourcing it there instead. It's a big gamble in terms of warranty but what the heck. So i've been doing a lot of reading on foreign sites and this benQ W1070 keeps popping up. And AVSforum has about 70+ pages of it and its a relatively new projector. Right now it's not yet selling in Amazon or Best Buy but there are some shops and even Ebay that sells it for about $1,100 which should go down when stocks arrive since it was advertised to be $999 below.

Any inputs would be appreciated. I would like to keep my cost below P50k.

Official distributor of BenQ projector is Astech Pengson. You may reach them at 332 4342.

They made demo of this unit at home sometime last December, 2012 after I saw it during Nov HiFi event. They're selling it around 55k plus, almost twice the price in Amazon I think. I decided a different brand, Optoma GT750e, which I got from Amazon at USD 750.

at that price, it's still a better deal than the non-3D Optoma HD21! I'm bookmarking this thread!

If they will be selling these here for 55k that's not a very bad deal. Since amazon is selling it for $999 last time i checked. Reason why I would go for the 15k plus difference is shipping cost, warranty and firmware update since i read that if there are firmware updates you need to send it to them.

I called Astech Pengson yesterday, they said they don't have the W1070 yet. They also said that their projectors are available at ElectroWorld branches.

I visited an ElectroWorld branch earlier today. they said that the W1070 is on a "by-order" basis. so I gave them my contact info so they can reach me if and when its available.

Anyone know if BenQ distributor (Astech Pengson) will do warranty service/repair of BenQ projectors like W1070 or W1080ST bought in US?

I know that InFocus distributor (American Technologies Inc) does warranty work on InFocus projectors bought in US. Wondering if the same is true for BenQ.

My new BenQ W1070 fully fitted and wired in. Have a new display unit for my busts. Fitted perfectly under my new 106" projector screen.

So this model isn't that popular there in the PH? Tons of reviews are already online, but in this thread, seems like nobody's buying it.

This was only distributed recently. And not a lot of stores have it in stock. Unlike the Epson and Acer na readily available.

regarding the W1070's availability, by order lang ata cya sa abenson's at sa astech-pengson. it's not widely available like Acer, Epson, and Panasonic.

Just tested my new BenQ W1070, Wow!!! 2D & 3D PQ way better than my previous Acer PJ. PQ could still be improved further through proper calibration, can anyone of you guys point out to me on how to properly calibrate this PJ?

I got mine from BHPhotoVideo NYC last year at $729, after a week nagsale sila for $699, I asked BH for a discount refund and they gave me $30 refund. Good thing with BH is walang sales tax compared sa Amazon. Meron din available nito localy just read above posts.

I got the short throw version (BenQ W1080ST+) at the Singapore IT Show last year. It was selling for SGD 1588 inclusive of 4 BenQ 3D glasses, HDMI cable and SGD 50 voucher. My brother hand carried it here.

I was hoping to buy it locally but the short throw version was not available at that time.

I also love the W1080ST for being short throw per se, but the W1070 is practically cheaper. The price difference can be use for custom's tax payment, if you will get it from online store.

It maybe cheaper to buy online than our local store, right? But thinking about warranty of course local store is the right choice.

Did any member in this forum tried the newer HT1075 by Benq? I've also read positive reviews on it.
