Topic: PIONEER DVL 88K DOESN'T PLAY DOLBY DIGITAL IN MY HARMAN AVR135

A friend gave me a used pioneer dvl-88k laser disc/dvd player. My problem is that dolby digital
does not appear on my receiver even for original dvd. I'm not a techie when it comes to electronics so I'm not sure if there a way to address this problem. Your help will be much appreciated.

The coaxial cable is connected to the pcm-digital out of the laser/dvd and coaxial digital in of the receiver. For video the connection is via s video of the player to the tv.

I don't have the remote for pioneer. Is there a way I can go to the audio setting of the player w/o the remote?
By the way, I have a spare of pioneer remote from my old laser disc player. Presently, I'm using this remote to operate the laser/dvd player. However, I can't find the audio setting menu.
