HiFi Critic Reviews Magico's S5!

"The frequency response is the most uniform I have ever measured for a loudspeaker...

Yet a number of listeners also crave a greater feeling of involvement from their music systems, and here the S5 really delivers...

Incredible as it may seem, in the high end arena the S5 is actually rather good value, as its complete performance reaches massively beyond its price."

SoundStage Hifi Gives Magico S5 a Recommended Reference Component Award!

"... S5 “is likely the best available, and among a handful of great-sounding speakers at any price” -- praise that led to a Reviewers’ Choice award at the time of review, inclusion in our Recommended Reference Components list this month -- and, to cap off 2013, a SoundStage! Network Product of the Year award in the category of Outstanding Performance: Stereo Loudspeakers. In all respects, Magico’s S5 is a topflight, reference-grade loudspeaker."

Magico Ultimate v.3

A five-way design costing a mind-boggling $600,000/system, the speaker’s higher-frequency horns feature a Tractrix flare, the lower-midrange horn a trapezoidal flare, all of which blend smoothly into the baffle. A 15" sealed-box woofer handles frequencies below 125Hz.

And each speaker weighs 800 pounds and almost 8-feet tall. Seems like the S1 just became very affordable.  >:D ;D

Yo Myke.  I have seen those photos but those small speakers are supposed to be for surround use.  They are not in the official pricelist, so it is very likely they were made just for that show.  It would be nice to be able to set up an all Magico HT speaker system. Perhaps one day :)

Magico’s game-changing S Series hews to the company’s trademark design principles but departs sonically from the more expensive Q Series. To AT’s ears, the new sound is more engaging. The S5 stands atop the lineup and epitomizes the S Series’ newfound tonal lushness, freer-flowing bass, and emphasis on organic musicality. The beauty of the S5 is that it achieves these fresh attributes without sacrificing Magico’s traditional strengths. Like all Magicos, the S5 is a detail-unraveler nonpareil, and that applies to both transient and timbres. The speaker is also an imaging champ, and its bass is a nice mixture of ease, control, and extension (this is a decidedly full-range speaker).  Perhaps most significantly, the S5 is equally adept at deconstructing music and putting it back together again into a cohesive whole. All these attributes combine to make the S5 a “complete” speaker, according to AT. With the S5—and the entire S lineup—Magico has found a way to create speakers that are both more affordable and more overtly inviting than its flagship line, yet without losing the essence of the brand."

I heard the Magico Ultimate 3 and two Q Subs at the Munich Highend Show.. awesome.

Here's a video I took with my Olympus OM-D using built-in mic.. I was lucky to have the sweet spot for a full hour.

http://youtu.be/nHkenJSmMyc

I was so impressed, I placed an order (for a colored brochure) before I left the room  O0

I was not impressed by Magico when I first heard them, but the Q, S & U I really really like the sound.

just waiting for confirmation, but placed my order already, in red to match my cars  ^-^

Magicos are known to be very transparent and will reveal all the deficiencies upstream. I hope my cables (DIY), amp. preamp, DAC and transport all mate well with it.

yes, Magico sound is not for everybody but if floats my boat  ;D that's why I went after it.

I think the S series represent an excellent value in this day and age where you can get a pair of 5 figure set of speakers with much less technology and performance.

When we first heard the S3, I was surprised by the size and fullness of the soundstage, quite amazing for it's size,

The S7 use most of the technology and components of the $125k M Series. I don't think my room and wallet can accomodate the Q7 Mk2, so malamang end of the road ko na ang model na ito
