If you are going to test a display, ensure that you are going to use a BD player or NMT player, do not reply on the build-in USB player of the TV as this gives lower video quality and does not even support 24p playback.

Another 4K streaming source (Amazon asks for no extra charge for 4K)...
http://www.dailytech.com/Amazon+Joins+4K+Arms+Race+With+Free+4K+Streaming+for+Prime+Members/article36979.htm

I wonder when it'd get here (not that the Philippine internet infrastructure is ready).

Remind lang guys, to better appreciate 4K (true 4K or upscaled) better get 60" or bigger TV.
For me, no sense ang 4K kapag 50" lang bibilin mo. Better go OLED kung okay ka na sa 50".

Lots of times ko na napanood 1080p sets side by side sa 4K tv with upscaled content, both being 50", and they don't look any different at all.

Most popular 4K TV that is not curved & larger than 70-inch at Amazon. It is a 2014 model that first came out in May 16, 2014. It sells for $5,497.99.

Really looking forward to 2016 model when 4K Blu-ray has a few months to spread. The NTC should have the implementing rules and regulations out for Digital Terrestrial TV in a few weeks time.

Quantum Dots are coming in 2015 for 4K TVs. Sony has them for a few months already and LG/Samsung will have them in 2015.

Probably not. Local Internet speeds won't be able to handle it anyway.

Am really surprised sa laki ng improvement ng panel ng Sharp and LG lately,
pag nakita mo sila in person, lalo ang mga 65" and above panels nila, WOW,...
Before then, Samsung talaga ang makakakuha ng pansin mo, but now, pag nagkatabi tabi sila,
ang ganda ng resolution and color rendition nila, though nagkakaiba na lang sila ngayon sa refresh rate,
and somehow, in my opinion, dun na lang magkakatalo talaga when making a purchase,
naka-set ako sa 75", still waiting, probably sa next batch ng release ng newer models.
Also, I wasn't considering Sony then, but lately, ang ganda ng panel din nya,...  ;)

I've notice LG's 4K panels are not really that pricey case for example the 55UB850t only worth around 85k to 90k php and it has all the features specifically for 4K materials. I wonder how's their screen uniformity coz I know before, LG panels are falling short about this.

yung larger, higher end Sharp LED tvs (60" and up), maganda ang panel. nakita ko dati side-by-side, Sharp 70" Full HD at Samsung 78" Curved UHD, mas maganda ang blacks and PQ ng Sharp. yung Samsung, matindi ang backlight bleeding at di kasing-ganda ang blacks sa Sharp!  :o

webOS
- LG

Android TV (rebranded from Google TV)
- Sony
- Philips

I went for the 4K LG 55" and 42" (went to the rooms) and also a Samsung Curve 4K 65" (ended up in the main HT room).

I can say, the free 4K 500gb from Samsung was great but was hoping to find more materials out there. I know that those who got the Sony 4K models have their own 4K freebie materials.

As for the built-in smart TV features, on the LG 4K 55" and the Samsung Curve 4k 65" had them built-in. I like LG's SmartTV OS using the (defunct HP product) called webOS.

On the other hand, Samsung also had it's own but interface wise, I like the LG implementation.

Anyway, I still think that using an external smart TV add-on is much better way to go. This way, I am not taxing the display units' motherboard too hard. There's already a slew of Android based NMT players those and some have good rendition of their 4K capable units. :)

I am also toying with the Openelec implementations on my HTPC gears (XtreamerUltra's).

Sony and Panasonic are shuffling panel suppliers. Sony was a long-time Samsung panel user for its higher end models; they have switched over to LG in the past couple of years. Panasonic has been an LG panel user for quite some time, and it is now using Samsung panels for higher models. Lower end models are often farmed out to Taiwanese/Chinese suppliers.

Both Japanese companies are in talks with the Korean panel makers for future OLED TV releases. LG Display is expecting to turn around its OLED production this year (start to make a profit out of manufacturing them).
